Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit SP1.Have 7 standard users created in the User Accounts. Only 5 user icons displaying on welcome screen. All 7 users are required to and do have passwords set.Creating a new user does not add that new user to the welcome screen.Deleting a user does not move one of the other users onto the welcome screen..it reduced the number of user icons to 4.All users have valid User directories and if I force the login prompt instead of icons, they can login successfully. This happened about a week ago and may be the result of some software my son installed. Not sure. There is not an "Other User.." icon...just 5 valid user icons with 2 missing.
Today i restarted my p.c after updating the windows 7 ultimate 64 bit.. but after i restarted it, suddenly the screen went black and this was displayed: "JLPRF is compressed Press ctrl+alt+delete to restart" i followed the command, and every time i did, the p.c restarted and the same message was displayed... i even check the cables, ram and other connection but every thing was fine.. I tried installing the windows again using the DVD, but no use.. The same message was displayed over and over again every time i restarted the rig.. (I never altered any bios setting)
I have an Acer aspire 5745DG with H2O Insyde bios (if that's correct).About 2 days ago I left it hibernating. Today I started it up and after the Acer boot screen (where you can press f2 to go to boot settings), I got a black screen with two letter "Y"-s and that flashing cursor/line/underscore. Then it restarts and after the same thing happens, it freezes and it doesn't do anything.
I have tried to get windows safe mode by pressing f8 but after the letter Y-s come up it just gives off a loud beep.
My sony vaio ( Windows 7 home premium 64bit) has internet connection issues lately. Heres what happens: My signal strength is 100% but when i open any program(Ex: Yahoo Messenger) or any internet browser it simply says that the webpage cannot be displayed or its not available. However, i am able to connect online with IE 64bit. SO a friend of mine checked the computer and clearly confirmed that the startup settings, services and registry settings related to the same are corrupted. So since i dont know ANYTHING AT ALL about computers :3 , i was wondering if you guys could help me out by telling me how to fix these *little* problems.
I have a problem with my Windows Services. Each time when I launch Windows Services window, I get a warning:One or more activex controls could not be displayed because either:
1. your current security settings prohibit running activex controls on this page, or
2. you have blocked a publisher of one of the controls.as a result, the page may not display correctly.
The warning pop-up opens only when I click on Extended tab.The problem has nothing to do with IE security, because I can open pages with ActiveX controls on them and so.I have installed Spybot spyware/malware removal tool. Then uninstalled it.I'm not sure if this is the cause of the problem. But I presume it is.
When I'm installing programs, such as Adobe Reader or Flash, the text being displayed by the installer is in Chinese, but not all of it. Also, i noticed that after installing MS Office, the default font is set to a Chinese font
Just upgraded to Windows 7 today and have been totally loving it! Its so much faster than Vista.
I just have one major problem that has been bothering me. I dont know whether its a bug or just a noob mistake on my part but I am unable to see any drives whatsoever in the "computer" folder. I have tried disabling/enabling the "Show empty drives" thing but to no avail.
It would be great if someone could help me out with this issue.
I really didn't know the best title for this problem. I have a problem with my girlfriends laptop, where she can't install any MSI files, due to a "The file cannot be opened" error, or something to that effect. After looking in the Permissions settings for the MSI file in question, I noticed something in the Security tab, under User Names. Where it's supposed to say Miss Ghoul (STEPHANIE-PCMiss Ghoul), it actually says... Miss Ghoul (STEPHANIE-PC"). There are " where Miss Ghoul should be. I tried for ages to find out how to change this, but because she's running Windows 7 Home Premium, I have no Group Policy editor (if it even helps to have it). Is there any way to force change the " to say what it's supposed to say? And could this have an efect on her ability to install MSI files?
I recently bought a new Samsung 23" LED monitor and connected it using HDMI. Just now when I was trying to play a video file in Windows media player, only the first frame is displayed. If I keep resizing the window, the video plays normally and stops when I let go of the mouse. This issue happens with Media Player classic too. Strangely, Media Center has no issues playing whatever I throw at it and VLC is not affected at all. I uninstalled the K-lite Mega Codec Pack, downloaded the latest version of it and reinstalled it to no availnity can provide[CODE]

When I click on tools in menu bar the drop down menu is displayed as a awful grey colour this happens when I click on other items also, ie favorites, view, edit ect(reminds me of the first computer I got about 12 years ago) Also when I play cards on POGO the graphic window is shown bigger than it should be and the game is displayed in the corner of the window instead of covering all of the window. Tried Firefox and the card game was displayed correctly but the first mentioned was still the same. Also the colours seem to garish.
I have Windows 7 32-bit Ultimate (Italian language) and I'm experiencing a strange bug since a few days. My recently opened .txt files list is not displayed any more.
This used to work before, but now when my mouse pointer is over the little triangle (see 1st pic, where "Blocco note" is "Notepad") nothing happens, and cannot understand why. Other apps are fine (e.g. Microsoft Office Excel 2007, Beyond Compare 3, see 2nd pic) What can I try?
when I wake up my computer from sleep, it will turn on (all of the fans and lights start running) but there is nothing displayed on either of my monitors.I have my hard drive set to "never turn off" and this hasn't helped the problem.
So I recently bought GTA IV, the minimum graphic memory to run it is around 256MB so as I have 353 MB I decided to give it a try. The entire installation process went on smoothly and when I run the game everything works ok but after the loading process when the cutscene starts the graphics become very horrible. When I checked out the graphics tab it showed me that I was using 256/60 MB. As far as I know my graphic memory is 383 and another surprising fact is that when you over-ride the memory in this game it actually turns the color of the font red 256/60 MB text. When normal green in color) but the color was green. I even tried increasing the setting but it didn't allow me to increase it.
Here are my graphic specification: Name: Mobile Intel(R) 965 Express Chipset Family Manufacturer: Intel Corporation DAC Type: Internal Approx Total Memory: 353 MB Current Display Mode: 1280x800 (32bit) (60Hz) Monitor: Generic PnP Monitor
When I try to install XP, with 7 already installed, no partition is displayed. I recently reformatted my primary HD and have come back to realize than my PC is not longer able to detect my Ethernet cable. I've tried to sort this problem out from device manager but network adapter no longer shows up.
Whenever I try to boot my computer the "welcome" message on the start up does not appear. The graphics appear to be changed a little, but can successfully login to my account . The desktop icons are displayed without the corresponding descriptive text for example I can see computer icon but not the "My computer" tag same with all icons. Right clicking on anything pops up a menu without text just a white box. Clicking activity never works and the system just crashes with a blue screen or a blank screen in few seconds. The issue started after I ran sfc/scanow command through command promt. I got several errors in system files which it fixed but not for the good(apparently the tool suppose to help users got me in trouble). Subsequent attempts yielded no errors. safe mode just displays windows icon , nothing else. Some history: I have previously used several theme softwares which tweak the system files but uninstalled it later. I tried to repair the installation using the DVD but it couldn't find any problems. Also the DVD is without servive pack 1 and I have Windows 7 SP1. couldn't uninstall SP1 through command line it just pops a blank white screen I have lots of engineering software tools I use for my college work so cannot afford a disk clean up as I don't have installation dvd's and cannot afford another student's licence.
Can I hide a specific filetype from being displayed in Explorer? For instance, I have an application that makes many .ecx files. I need the files, or more specifically the program needs the files, but I don't need to see them.
I have some problems with BSOD. It can happen few times a day, and it can appear after a week without problems. Usually it happened when I use the internet, but yesterday, for the first time it happened 2 minutes after I turned on the computer, without doing anything.I updated all the drivers without any positive result.

I'm having a bit of trouble with a desktop icon that is displaying incorrectly.Basically when the shortcut is placed on the desktop, the shortcut icon is displaying a different icon that what it should, however, if I then drag the shortcut into say, a folder, the shortcut icon is then correct.I have tried:
Deleting the Thumbs.db Deleting the Icon Cache & Restarting Re-installing the Software
This is only apparent on one of my windows 7 machines, on the other three machines I have the problem does not occur.
