I have an HP pavillion desktop (s5360f) with Atheros 802.11 a/b/g/n Dualband Wireless Module and D-Link router DIR-615. My numerous Laptops and iPhons / iPads work fine, but this desktop which is further away from the router (in another room, about 20 meters) only shows 1-2 bars of wifi. First I bought a big additional D-Link antenna (7Ghz) but it didn't really help - sometimes connction shows 3 bars. I was told this antenna should help a lot. Then I checked with my router settings and saw that the HP uses "g" connection when everything else uses "n". I even set it to only use "n" but still it shows the HP using "g". I updated the driver (Atheros 9.2.0.113 for AR5B91), but it didn't help. I have "n" enabled in Atheros in Device manager. Now I'm lost and can't think of anything else that can be a problem and / or how to fix it... I don't have any thick walls between the router and the HP, my iPhone seems to work in this room just fine...
I'm using the Atheros AR5007 802.11b/g WiFi Adapter and the specs of this adapter say that I should get speeds up to 54 Mbps. I'm only getting to 16 Mbps even though the speed in the connection status says 54. I have used it with 2 different wifi routers (Linksys and Asus),with 2 different IPS and with both the actuall speed will not go over 16 Mbps. If i connect using a cable to those routers I get speeds way over 54 Mbps.
I have the latest Windows 7 x64 drivers from windows update. Does anyone have any ideea if there is anything wrong with my card or this is there a way to speed it up ?
I have a laptop in which I am running windows 7 pro x64. But as I had a problem with the weak signal I bought an alfa network antenna : 802.11/g long-rangemodel awus036h.I have installed the driver following step by step the instructions from the driver's site. But I am only able to see only the other's SSIDs not MINE and also Even when i am forcing to connect to my SSID it doesn't connect. My network is not Hidden so I dont get it.
I've installed ASUS Wi-Fi USB adapter (model USB-N13) for LAN. There is Windows 7 Home Premium x64. Through control panel I see that adapter works normally and the drivers are the latest. However my PC doesn't see the adapter - the ASUS utility notices me "ASUS Wireless LAN card is taken apart from your desktop PC".I have the same Wi-Fi adapter at another my PC with Windows 7 Home Basic, and everything works nice. Of course I changed these adapters between my computers. Conclusion is both adapters are working good. The same models, the same drivers. Actually I don't understand where is the mistake?
My laptop is connected to Wi-Fi but the internet doesn't seem to work. It shows "No Internet Access". the same network is working fine on other systems.
I've been having intermittent disconnection issues with my wireless card, DWA-552. After having thoroughly researched on the subject, the conclusion drawn by many people is that dlink's drivers are inappropriate for the card. It was suggested to install the Atheros driver instead, which i proceeded to do. Much to my confusion, when i downloaded the AR5008 10.0.0.75 driver, i found no .exe file to easily setup the driver.
I have an Atheros AR928x Wireless Network Adaptor and need to change its configuration for our XBox to connect to the internet. how to determine the IP address to gain access?
Sony Vaio with Windows 7 Home Premium - Svc pk 1 -
I have been working on an Emachines E627 with Win7 and have noticed my wireless speeds around around 10x slower than on dell laptop running XP. I have verified the slower speed using speedtest.net, also I have updated the driver for Atheros AR5B95 Wireless Network Adapter and the Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter (which I have no idea what this one does as I disabled it and nothing changed???) and the Atheros ethernet controller just for fun.
I have also port forwarded the win7 and xp machine on my router but still receive slow speed on the win 7 machine. I am beginning to think that maybe the Atheros wireless adapter sucks? Also another thing the adaptor connection speed states 150 mbps where I am used to seeing the standard 54 mpbs. I am at a loss to what else I can change to speed the win 7 machine up to the speeds I get on my xp machine.....or does the atheros adapter just plain suck? I have turned off any power consumption savers for the adapter as well.
I installed all the drivers available from the Gigabyte website for some reason the wifi function simply does not work. Also, the screen plugged into the 7950 works fine but the other screen connected into the motherboard gets the message "no signal detected".
I have a WiFi Router and I am able to get my laptop into it. Best Buy set it up. How can I get the proper ID to get my son's laptop on to my router. It is secured and I don't have a clue what to give him to get on?
I have a Verizon router and I purchased a NetGear N900 wireless dual band usb adapter for my son's computer. I was going to test the N900. It is for college. The N900 will not connect. I do have three other laptops that do connect and work ok. The N900 has WPS but the Verizon router does not.So I have to use the SSID, 'wep' option, and the wep key. The N900 tries to connect and stops trying after about 20 seconds or so. The N900 varies from 4 to 5 green bars. N900 installation was followed and went smoothly and the new software version was used. We are using Windows 7 Home Premium 32bit on my son's computer.I also purchased the Western Digital My Net N750 router for college. I have no way to test everything at home. It does have WPS so at the college I hope everything works.
I will be buying a new computer (64 bit). I currently run a 3.5 year old Dell (32 bit) with XP Pro and connect wirelessly with a DLINK router and adapter (DLINK DWA 130 Rev C) which is an N router, which replaced a G level router about 4 months ago. Would it be possible to download a driver that will work on the new machine now, or should I bite the bullet and add an adapter to the new computer? I emailed DLINK and have had no response.
I have both of these things and my recent internet still come up on my laptop, how can i connect or use my router to get wifi, need this for work asap.
I had analyzed the network near my house and found many networks working on channel 1,6,11.... my router supports channel 13 ... I changed it to 13 and tried to connect my laptop...but the problem it cannot find the router in the range...However i used another laptop and it found the router. how to configure my wireless card on that laptop to support channel 13... I have entered on the Wireless network adapter and cannot find anything related to "Channel " that i can change it.
I need help port forwarding my minecraft server via wifi. I have all permisions to setup but after all the threads and programs I have tried, nothing works. I get exception Failed to Bind to port perhaps another server is already running on this port.
On Windows XP my USB dongle would always share it's wifi connection with my home WRT-54G WiFi Router. It was simple and all it took was a little wizard to set it up and give my router an IP address from my computer. In windows 7 I cant find out how to do it.the internet sharing option doesn't work correctly. it's not giving my router an IP address.
I have a D-Link DIR615 router which I've been using for the past 5 months (no problems whatsoever). After i've got my laptop from the support service I can't seem to successfully connect to my home network.
My phone can connect with no problem to my router. My laptop sees other wireless networks. This is how it goes: when I try to connect it immediately says "unable to connect" when I run the diagnostics I get the "windows did not receive any response from the wireless router" message. I can only connect after like 30 mins of changing the wireless settings (usually SSID and security) from my router + rebooting it countless times. Even then, I usually check "automatically connect" and the next day after I arrive from work, it doesn't really connect automatically and can't even connect to it (unable to connect message). Even typing a wrong passphrase when it's secured it doesn't say "wrong passphrase" but "unable to connect".
Another very wierd thing is that my wireless network disappears from the network list after a few minutes, I still see other secured wireless networks.
I can connect to a wireless network made by phone (wifi hotspot) with no problems.
I'm switching from landline ISP to mobile ISP (dongle). So I'm thinking of sharing 3G dongle (ZTE MF190) internet connection with other PC, device etc, through D-Link modem+router(DSL-2640B) that I use for landline internet connection before. Is this possible? I notice that I cannot use homegroup via D-Link anymore after connecting to 3G dongle. I've tried ICS (internet connection sharing) but to no avail.
Windows 7 sees the adapter right off the bat names it right but does not install drivers for it.
So I tried to use some hacked buffalo drivers that lets me create a softAP and open the adapter up to all devices. -on XP sp2
Seems the drivers are not valid for vista 64bit / Windows 7
So I tried the latest drivers from Nintendo 1.7 and still no luck I try to run the software it says no drivers for my OS and I try to install it manually in DevMang.
I'm having this problem for last one week, after boot my computer just freezes. When I boot without USB Wifi Adapter the computer runs okay. I have 2 different Wifi Adapters, with both of them its the same problem I followed this thread [Solved] USB devices freeze computer - Gigabyte - Motherboards-Memory , and disabled usb legacy support. the computer ran fine with USB adapter after that (last night) but today morning again its freezing.Problem started with TP-Link wifi adapter, now i'm using Linksys Wifi Adapter
I am normally connected to the internet through a wired connection but the wireless adapter on my pc..is always on and searching. My concern is can someone snoop into my pc through the wireless adapter even if it is not connected to a network.
Generally once or twice a day, my computer will suddenly drop its internet connection. It will then start an endless loop of trying to connect: Sensing the network is there Trying to connect (With the loading symbol and "Initializing")Appearing to connect successfully (but when I try an open a web page, nothing loads, and I receive an error message telling me there's no connection)A few seconds later, the yellow triangular warning sign appears next to the wireless bar.A few seconds after that, it drops the connection, and then starts over at step oneA few seconds later, it will start again at step one.The only way I am able to get the network back on is to: Disconnect manually (press "disconnect")Turn of my wireless antenna on my computer Turn on and off my router Turn back on the antenna Reconnect.I have to do these 5 steps every time it disconnects. This is only happening on this one computer - other computers on the network aren't experiencing the problem (running XP and Win 7).I have an Asus U56E-BAL7.
