Oct 22, 2012My pc was slowing down so I formatted my hard drive and reinstalled windows 7. All went well except one thing internet on wifi doesn't work. The rest of the toys in the house still connect through the router but the laptop does not. If the lan cable is plugged in the internet works. I used this to find the latest drivers for my laptops wifi card. Through the wifi I can enter the router settings but not externally to the internet.

When i switched it on in the evenng, it suddenly started showing that the internet is connected, but there is no nternet access!!! There was a yellow icon (triangle) at the internet connection icon...!!
I am able to access the same internet with my ipad n iphone, but says 'no internet access' or 'limited access' while trying the same from my laptop...!!

Jul 29, 2012Currently my internet is not working but was fine for the pass few weeks. The problem im having is that the wifi works for Iphone but not my laptop. Im able to connect to my housemate wifi , just now the free wifi that was provided by the owner. Is there any reason why my laptop wifi isnt working for this connection but works for other wifi connection ?

Oct 24, 2012I have a Dell Inspiron 15 Laptop. It always works great except for one problem I have had from the beginning. When I am at some place like Starbucks or the Library and want to use the internet, my computer will show me the list of "Wireless Network Connections" available and I can click on the library for example and it will connect just fine. It will show the word "Connected" under the "Library" connection. But it will also say "No Internet Access". This happens anytime I go to a free wifi hotspot. I have learned that there is an additional login required. So for the library I would have to pull up my browser, go to their website and find their login. The problem with this is that sometimes you don't know the URL to their website so you can't login. there is some setting on my computer I can change to make the login screen come up automatically or even bypass this option. When I use these wifi hotspots with my phone or Google Nexus I never have this problem.

Jan 1, 2012I connect to my home wifi and it says connected, but there is no internet connection.I noticed that network adapter shows "wireless network connection 2" with that "2" at the end of name. I guess there is a problem. If I rename it to just "wireless network connection" it says it already exists. But cannot see it, and use it! Can anyone tell me how to reset it or somehow switch to "wireless network connection" without "2"?

Oct 1, 2010My wifi at work will recognize the wireless network and says it's connected. Yet there is no internet. So I use the Ethernet cable and internet works. My wifi connects immediately on my home wifi router with no issues. I had wireless working flawlessly last week, but all this week it won't connect.

Mar 28, 2011I've had a wifi network set up at my house for several months now, and no problems. If I couldn't connect. I always just unplugged the router for 10 seconds and was able to connect. Suddenly today, I can't connect to the internet, but my wifi network appears to be fine. It says I have excellent signal strength and that I'm connected but I can't connect to the internet. When I go to the program that came with the router and hit "repair".
It says that I am connected to the network, but that my internet connection is broken...??? I tried using another device to see if I could connect with internet, my ipod touch and it also said that I was connected to the wifi network...yet it could not connect with the internet. It never had a popup that said anything, it acted like it was trying to connect but just never did.

Sep 23, 2011Wifi connected but after like 5 - 15 mins, it shows no internet access (yellow !) at random. Sometimes it can happen every 1 min and freuqency great increases when im streaming a video/uploading/downloading or playing an online game.
I tried all the solutions such /run winsock reset & preferred DNS 218. 67. 222. 222.

Mar 24, 2011My Desktop is connected to my router vie WiFi and it says I have connection to the Internet. However, i cannot access any website, be it by typing in the name or the IP address.At the same time, I can ping all websites. I can find them via tracert, which also nicely resolves the IP adresses of any sites I type in. I also tried two different WiFi dongles (Cisco and D-Link) both have identical problems.I reset the winsocket and i tried to log in as another user - to no avail.To make things even stranger, I cannot even access the router (192.168.1.1), but i CAN access the NAS connected to the router (192.168.1.100).The laptop which is connected to the router via WiFi has no troubles accessing either the router or the outside world so I am fairly certain that the problem lies with my computer and not with the access point.My computer gets his IP via DHCP (fixed on 105) and is within the same subnetmask as the router and has the routers IP adress as standard gateway (all that via dhcp).

Aug 4, 2011I've googled this and found heaps of people having the same issue, but nothing that actually resolves it. I'm using a laptop with internal wifi but I also have an external wifi dongle as I connect to my neighbours internet (I have permission and the passwords, etc). Both the internal and external used to work fine and both would have internet connection. But something recently has changed and now the internal wifi still works with both network and internet connection, but the external one only has network connection and no internet connection.The reason I use the external one is it gives much better signal strength than the internal one and, as said, both used to work just fine.Now I've tried uninstalling the external drivers and dongle and reinstalling it but no dice. I've tried doing the netsh stuff people have recommended in some of the search pages but no dice. Tried release and renew of IP, but no dice. I've disabled all firewalls but no dice (and I figure the firewalls would stop both connections anyway but I thought I'd try it

Jul 23, 2012Laptop is connected to wifi but still shows yellow star and grey bars? Title says it all. I've reinstall the drivers, changed the settings in the registry editor that someone on another forum suggested, delete all the wifi accounts and rebooted the computer. No errors in device manager, the Windows wifi connection software is the only one running. Internet is working but it wont allow me to setup a vpn. I've rebooted everything.
I just noticed that no matter what wireless network I connect to it still does this. Also, I connected to a wireless network that this laptop never connects to and it never asks what kind of network it is. It just sets it as a public network. My other laptop connects to both fine.
Internet Explorer Doesn't Work At All
Sep 16, 2011Basically my internet explorer doesn't work. It just hangs on loading pages and eventually gets this error:
"This program cannot display the webpage
Most likely causes: You are not connected to the Internet. The website is encountering problems. There might be a typing error in the address."
I can still access the internet through chrome and Firefox though so it's an IE issue. I also can play online games fine.
Anyway, programs like Skype that use IE to load stuff such as adding contacts doesn't work. I have tried the following things:
-Reset internet explorer
-Downgraded to IE8
I am running windows 7 32 bit and am on cable.
Laptop Won't Stay Connected To Internet
Feb 20, 2012So here is the deal: about 6 months ago I purchased a brand new laptop and connected it to my DLink router that has been working on our PC for about 3 years now. I also have 2 Playstations and 2 other laptops connected to the D Link (all of which are working fine and NEVER have any problems whatsoever). About 3 weeks ago, I turned my laptop on and tried going online, but much to my surprise, it couldnt connect. Its supposed to automatically connect, but this time it didnt. I figured I would manually connect it. I opened up the window that displays all the routers that the laptop is picking up and i saw my D Link so I try to connect. It attempts, then says "connected" and the after 3 seconds or so, it says "Limited Access". I thought it was a problem with the internet so I checked the other laptops in the house and the Playstation and they are all working fine. I figured it was my laptop so I shut it off and restarted it but it did not work. Next, I tried unplugging the router and waited for 2 minutes or so and plugged it back in. Yay! It worked! I solved the problem! I began surfing the internet for a couple hours when, BAM! It suddenly went out again. I figured I would unplug the router once again to see if it was just some kind of glitch and would work fine this time. I unplug it and repeat the process over again. after 2 hours, it goes out. Everything else in this house seems to be working just fine on the router with no problems whatsoever, except mine. I have not messed with any of the configurations because I have not idea where to even begin so I know it cant be with the configurations. My laptop is new with windows 7, I'm using xfinity as a provider.
Side note- I did a test and when I cant connect to the internet with my laptop it fails a "PING" test (no idea what that is), but when I unplug and plug up the router and the internet is fine on the laptop, it will pass the "PING" test.

Nov 8, 2012I hope someone can help me with this. I work from home (office is 70 miles away), and my Lenovo T420 Windows 7 will not stay connected via WiFi to my Verizon MI424WR ver I router. I had this problem with my old router (MI242WR rev E), and I was able to fix it by turning off the Power Management option to "power off to save power" My Lenovo is using Centrino Advanced-N 6205 Wifi chip. It reads as "working properly".
It seem obvious that there is an issue between the Lenovo and the new MI424. I have 10 other devices connecting to the MI424 without a problem. I have shut down devices to ensure that their is not an over burdening the AP issue.
Specifically, the Lenovo successfully pairs with the MI424, tries to establish an Internet connection, fails, and drops the connection (or the router does - I assume it is the laptop.) It's worked great for about 4 hours this am, then it quit working. I:
- shutdown the laptop, pulled power and battery
- shut off the network, pulled the plug and let it sit for a while
- restarted everything and the issue will not go away
It works fine @ work with a Cisco Network.
My company uses some McAfee SW for laptop security. Since I was blissfully working for hours and this just started up, I do not think that has anything to do with it.

Dec 7, 2011While struggling to get rid of the win7 security 2012 virus I believe I accidentally deleted a registry key that had to do with my internet instead of one of the ones for the virus. I am not very tech savvy but I can navigate around a computer fairly well with the right guidance. I did not make a copy of the registry keys before attempting to edit them, and for some reason I have no restore dates before I made this mistake to use system restore. Now whenever I open my internet browser (internet explorer 8) I receive a: internet explorer cannot display this webpage. I have connectivity with my router but limited access. I tried trouble shooting and got a message saying there was an error with the DNS. Possibly just a list of what registry keys could possibly cause just my internet to go down. If I can find out which one I deleted I should be able to manually type it in.

Wireless doesn't work at all, and wired just says "internet unavailable" (something along those lines) and has the yellow triangle next to it. I tried re-installing the network controller drivers but it seems they are installed because it just asks if I would like to uninstall or repair. Heres the page I downloaded drivers from. Tried downloading the drivers for HP ENVY 14t-1000 CTO Notebook PC, and HP ENVY 14-1000xx Notebook PC so far no luck.

Dec 2, 2012Whenever I connect to my wireless internet, be it when booting up the computer or changing to it via the modem cables, it refuses to work. The only way it works is if I click on the network computer in the bottom right corner and then troubleshoot for a couple mins, until the computer automatically fixes the problem.
