Oct 16, 2012I was replacing my heatsink for my cpu. Unfortunately the cpu came up with the heatsink. Before I get out a chisel and hammer, I thought I might first check on the forum for some advice on how to gently separate the cpu from the heatsink. Is there a solvent that I can safely use to disolve the goop without damaging the cpu? Computer is about 5 years old and has never had the heatsink removed before, so the cpu goop that was put on at the factory is probably like glue now.

Mar 4, 2011Just a quick one (hopefully). The fans in my PC have been making a lot of racket and I was checking them and cleaning them today and trying to pin point which one was kicking up such a racket.During this I removed my CPU heatsink/fan and gave it a clean, but I wondered if I need to reapply thermal paste? I know when changing you're supposed to put it on, but I thought that as I have removed it, but not changed it, the paste won't be as good a contact between the CPU and the heatsink and won't disperse the heat as well (or maybe hardly at all?)Just checked the temp with only Firefox (and background tasks of course) running, and my Q6600 is running at about 45, 45, 45, 58. The final processor is always the hottest and it says the max it has been was 70.I'm loathe to do to much with the PC (gaming and I've got some videos to transfer to DVD, which always pushes one of the processors) if the lack of paste could damage the processor.

It seams to be a driver problem, but the vista drivers dont seem to work correctly

Cooling Fan Runs Excessively Fast?
Jan 6, 2013My Machine is presario CQ62 with intel i5 processor. When there is no processes running, the cooling fan works very fast. The result is the battery runs down rapidly. The external temperature is about 29C to 32C.
Win 7 professional installed. AVG installed, with no link scanner running.
Overclocking An AMD FX-8350 And Proper Cooling?
Jan 9, 2013I am currently thinking about overclocking my new processor. To be quite honest I am a little new to overclocking and just wanted to get a few questions answered before I decide to start.clocking from 4.0 GHz to 5.0 GHz. Is this feasible? My main concern is proper cooling and this is where it gets a little complicated, I do not want anything to do with liquid cooling (to be honest, the thought alone is unsettling). Are there any Air coolers that will fit my case (NZXT lexa s) and cool my processor enough to keep it stable at 5.0 GHz? Also, at idle my processor runs at about 12.7 C (around 55 F).

Sep 9, 2011I've had my computer for over a year now and suddenly today i was watching a video when it lagged and then all of a sudden the screen went black. I've narrowed it down to these two...
AMD - Asus X5 Laptop - Laptops at Ebuyer
and
Intel - Asus X5DIJ Laptop - Laptops at Ebuyer
The main differences from what I can see is. The Intel has the extra gig of RAM but the AMD has the better graphics chip.
I do not know how the CPU's compare.
I would be ever so grateful for some good advice.
