I can't say pixelation, appearing as blocks in certain parts of the screen, or even a graphics card error.I am using a Thinkpad T400 running on win 7 (I have attached a link with s/w and h/w specs).I seem to be having this glitch that is just not going away - windows updates, driver updates, clean ups. uninstalls,Certain parts of the screen suddenly appears as pixelated or in blocks.
View 2 RepliesLately on occasion the cmd.exe window will appear very briefly. Normally it comes and goes so fast that I cannot clearly see what is actually happening. Today it appeared and contained the words "0 files copied" which changed to "1 files copied" and then "2 files copied" before disappearing. This was the first time I could actually see what was written. About 5 minutes later it appeared very briefly again and I noticed the word "taskkill" before it disappeared.

Originally set up and installed MS Office, Adobe Reader, and a few other common programs. Installed VMware vSphere Client. Upon using VMWare vSphere Client for the first time, I first noticed the white/blank square in the upper right corner of my desktop. It has been there ever since, even when I have not used any applications after startup.

View 3 Replies View Related[code] I built it at my house got it all setup and running fine with Win 7 and then hooked it up for them. About a week later they start to see this on their screen which is followed by a total lockup of the system that can only be fixed by powering down the system.Hooked it up at my house and ran memtest. I saw similar effect in memtest where it was blocks with smiley faces of some sort inside them. Computer completely locked up had to restart. Other than that memtest detected no error in the ram.Updated BIOS to newest version. I left the PC running for 24 hours after updating BIOS without any problems. Sent it back to their house and the problem is still occuring for them.I do not know what else to try at this point other than returning the mobo or CPU. Im not even sure what would be at fault in a Sandy Bridge CPU.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have tried to sort through the Admin fiasco in Win 7, default admin, "real" admin, just plain user, plain as mud, only M$ could create such convolution. I have Win 7 Ultimate and really like it....BUT....with a 30 inch 16 x 9 display, DVI in, hard to get a sharp screen....fonts in particular are blurred. I have gone through true type, no help.
Part of the problem is the "default" fonts. I think I know how to change them, but, big but, I cannot unlock the administration blockage even logged in as Administrator. I believe that is the problem as there is the gold & blue shield and the actions I want to take are grayed out, thus you can't click on them.
I have read others have set up an Admin with a password only to screw up their installation and I am unwilling to risk that as I have my OS set up just as I want it other than the font issue. Also, same problem in using the format capability of Win 7 for a hard drive, the gold shield/grayed out "format" cannot be accessed, again even though I am logged in as Admin.
I'm trying to setup a homegroup. At first I set it up on one of my computers. Then I tried to join the homegroup on the other one, but the homegroup didn't show up. So, I turned off windows firewall and it worked fine.
The thing is, I don't want to leave the entire firewall off - I'd preffer to add a rule exclusively for the homegroup. But the homegroup doesn't appear in the list of programs in the firewall settings. Is there a way to make such a rule?

I'm using Windows 7 ultimate RTM with all the updates, utorrent 1.8.5 and bitdefender Internet security 2010. The firewall is set to "allow known programs" and utorrent was put automatically on "allow", but if I try a port test it shows that port doesn't appear to be open.
I had the same settings on my windows vista ultimate and the port was always open.
Before now, when my new laptop with windows 7 updates and refused to browse, I had to restore it to a previous date and it browsed. Now the system had deleted that old restore point and now I do not know what to do to enable the system to browse. The internet status will indicate connected but will not browse.

The image freeze even if the pc is in idle. I have found another problem, the mouse cursor freeze for 2 sec (the image doesn't freeze, only the cursor), and after it's coming back to normal. I Installed A Bootleg Version Of The Video Game Hitman Contracts On My Vista Home Premium And When I Open It, It Says " ERROR, Please Close And Windows Will Notify you If There Is A Solution". View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen the PC is on it will depending on how long its been on will randomy just shut off. When it shuts off, it "sometimes" reboots but most often it "tries" to reboot but fails and then stays off. After this failed try to reboot if I press the power button on the case and mobo, nothing.Now if I turn OFF the PSU leave it for a few minutes and come back turn the PSU switch on and press the power button the system comes to life for a second or two then dies and will no respond to the power buttons until I turn off the PSU again.I have gotten it up and running from this state by leaving it off and unplugged for a couple of hours. When I say the PC comes to life for a second or two, I mean the case fans. If I get it booted up the BIOS is reset to default for some reason. Also if it makes it to windows, the notification area icons also gets reset... very very odd.I have a short video of the problem, sorry for the darkness, I finally decided to video it and it was 11pm.PSU dying or Mobo. I dont have extra's so I cant test them.Forgot to mention, ive checked for heat problems but none of my temps are high, they are all normal and its a Antec 1200 with tons of air movement.Event Viewer shows nothing expect for unexpected shutdown. My event viewer is clean from any errors also. I do not get any BSOD and this is on a fresh Windows 7 install from late Jan.

Each day, a second iteration of that printer appears and sets itself as the default printer. When he goes to print, nothing happens because it is sitting in the queue of that second printer. Yesterday I reset the print spooler by turning it off an on. When done, only the original printer appeared and everything printed fine. Today he called me and said the second printer was back and he can't print.

View 1 Replies View Relatedwhy my system will no longer display the contents of my CD/DVDs? I have been going through some older CD/DVD (RW) that have various files on them, zip, jpg, txt, doc etc. Looking from Explorer 'Computer' the disk will show once inserted and state it has (for example) 23.2MB free of 702MB but when I select the drive to view the contents all I see is desktop.ini and nothing else. Strange since it recognizes the media has 23.2MB free which means there is data present.
Now, I absolutely know this system showed contents at one time (like yesterday)for anything I inserted to read. I've rebooted also. I can also move the media to another machine, running Linux ;-) and it displays the contents just fine. I have tried other media that I know I have recently written (from this system) and they show exactly the same thing now one file desktop.ini and that's it. I have seen this before under W2K, WXP and now Windows 7 but this system is brand new and much more modern hardware but never ever found a solution.
I've installed a new SSD as a secondary drive and it has worked for two days. At the moment, I can't see any mention of it in Computer (Windows Explorer) but the BIOS detects it.There is a screenshot below of the disk manager, I believe Disk 2 should be the 120GB Intel X-25M G2 SSD:Also, ignore the 8GB drive listed there, it's just a harmless USB.How do I fix this? I don't have any data worth keeping on it so I'm quite happy to get a blowtorch and format the drive if needed.

When i checked the Task Manager-> Processes, i can see QTP is running. I have killed and tried again, same output. The application icon is not even visible in the taskbar aswell. I have tried using the multiple screen options aswell
