I have an administrator user login account and a standard login account? When I try to login to the administrator, it just hangs and I have to reboot. I can login to my standard account just fine however.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an annoying issue and it only happens about half the time my computer is turned on. When I run a program in "admin mode", the screen goes black and hangs for about 5 seconds, the prompt comes up asking me to approve, I click yes, screen goes black for another 5 seconds then the program comes up. This also happens sometimes when I wake the computer from the screensaver. I also happens when I try to open task manager. With the specs of my computer, there's no reason this should be happening. The computer is only 2 months old. I have run CHKDSK, did sfc /scannow, all are supposedly clean now. I checked my registry for errors, repaired those. Ran an AVG scan, also clean. My graphics drivers are up to date. All of my other drivers should be up to date as well. If I go into the device manager, there are no dreaded "!" icons next to any devices.
View 3 Replies View RelatedIve got two workstations that both have windows 7 64 bit installed.When I enable remote desktop on one to get into the other with network level authentication I am not allowed to login with Admin.However if I try to log in with a user I can get into it. Ive made sure to all selected Users and allowed Admin but it is called Administrator. I thought about going to user accounts and rename Admin to Administrator but i get an error with it saying it already exists.

I can use my account for most daily things, but I need to be the Administrator because I don't have rights to do some stuff. View 6 Replies View RelatedI upgraded my OS a few months ago to 64 bit with new components etc. I kept all of the old system files and folders JUST for if it went wrong, now ive sorted them all out, the old system files, and adobe is locked for some reason? I keep trying to change all of the administration but it just jumps straight back to before, but hey, im in no hurry to change it, its only 15gb of useless copies! Its just niggling at me and i would like to get it sorted if theres any other way? ie changing the admin account so i can change - everything-, as I'm not exactly new with computers, been studying them for years.
- Also, a little off topic if anyones got enough time to add some wisdom to the thread, ive just bought a super duper cooler for my CPU as when i run on normal settings on a game I play, LotrO, the manufacturers fan goes mad, and it really gets my goat making a loud whirring sound, would I be able to run on High-Ultra with a duel core amd athlon 2? with that fan I have "Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro Socket 775 CPU Cooler" it wouldnt make any sound as its made for being quiet and cool very well. i suppose the only sign of the strain is artifacts in-game?
I recently was given a laptop to fix up by my brother in law that seems to be infected with a nasty troublesome Trojan.Anyways I cannot login to his username with the password he has provided me with and he has some documents that he would like me to backup if possible.o, I was wondering if their is a way to get into the hidden admin account within the login screen, I hate how Microsoft disabled the feature of hitting Ctrl+Alt+Del to get into the admin account. So I was just wondering if their was another way to get in, I've already tried Safe Mode and the hidden Admin account doesn't pop up.

The last time I factory reset my laptop,, it stopped 3/4s the way through. I restarted it (its happened once or twice before and normally would have continued. I mean when the standard user will try to enter in safe mode, he/she will be denied access (may be force shutdown or a prompt to enter some password set by me). Removed all recently installed programs but no use. Boot option Debug hangs right at the start. All device drivers seem to be having no problem going by info with Device Manager.
View 4 Replies View RelatedWoke up today to find my computer (which I never turn off) sitting at the login screen saying "Please Wait..." I've seen it say that before, but only when you'd type your password incorrectly and it hangs for a second before it goes back to the login screen. Anyway, when I type my password in and click login the system just hangs at the "Welcome" screen. I left it for over and hour and came back, still hanging. I've seen older threads on here suggesting to enable "boot log" after pressing f8, that did nothing.
I am able to log into the computer on an old admin account that I created over a year ago, it's never been used, it works fine. Acts like a fresh install and only half my programs are there unfortunately. However, programs can be reinstalled. My biggest problem is that when I go into my files on the old account while logged into my fresh account I can access everything after gaining access, but when I try to open "Desktop" from the old account the system just Hangs, just like it does while trying to log into my normal account.
When I right click to examine the properties of "desktop" on the normal account, it says 0 bytes, in fact 0 everything, like it doesn't exist. This is really bad because a lot of my work is saved in folders on my desktop and I need the data from there. When I logged into the new account and gained access to my files and saw that I could read everything fine in my documents I had a sigh of relief figuring that all I would have to do would be a re-install or continue on a new account. Doesn't it just figure that the desktop folder isn't working?
My laptop hands at the Welcome screen...has done this before once or twice, but today it does not straighten out after restarting. I am not tech savvy...plus I am 70 years old and skittish about trying some of the suggestions I read on here

Something went wrong after we joined the new domain it doesn't see the new domain for login and the local Administrator account has been disabled. The only account available is the guest account. Is there a way to enable the local administrator account again?

View 10 Replies View RelatedI have had multiple instances now where Windows 7 hung after I started up and logged into an account. It seems to happen when I try to start a program by double-clicking on it. For example, it has hung when I tried to start CCleaner or Firefox. When I get into this state, Ctrl-Alt-Del does nothing. In some cases, I can right-click on the Taskbar and choose "Task Manager," but it won't run (I just get the hourglass cursor). Today I tried to start Firefox and nothing happened, and the hourglass cursor shows in the Taskbar, so I can't even see the menu for the Task Manager.
This is happening on a Toshiba laptop running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. It seems to occur when I don't wait long enough for the login to finish. When it happens, the only way out is to hold down the power key until it shuts off the system. Of course Windows is too stupid to tell me when it is done loading stuff into memory and starting its services; why can't they simply tell me when the login process is done and the system is ready to use? I find it infuriating that a supposedly multi-threaded, multi-tasking operating system can be so flaky. But enough of my rant; on to the possible cause:
I strongly suspect that my problems may be caused by SpySweeper, since it seems to be the last program that loads at login. (Or at least it's the last one to put up an annoying splash screen.) I use the following programs on my machine:
Windows Defender
Avast! Antivirus
Malwarebytes Anti-Malware
SuperAntiSpyware
Spybot Search & Destroy
SpySweeper
I have read that SpySweeper sometimes conflicts with other programs, so I turned off real-time protection for Windows Defender. I have read conflicting opinions on whether SpySweeper conflicts with Spybot's TeaTimer program. Do I need to somehow turn off TeaTimer too?
Even if SpySweeper is the cause of my problems, I find it very disturbing that misbehaving or even deadlocked application programs should be able to prevent the Task Manager from running.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI upgraded my system three weeks ago and swapped out the mobo, CPU, RAM and hard drive.Because of this, I did a fresh install of Windows 7 on the new 120Gb SSD.Last week, I noticed that some programs will only run if I right click and run as an administrator. for reference, when I try to double left clik to run nothing happens. No cursor change, no spike in CPU/RAM activity, nothing at all.I have a few storage drives upon which I install all non-system programs and the odd thing is that any program that predates the new install of Windows 7 will run absolutely perfectly if I left click as normal. Any program installed after the upgrade will only work if I right click and run as admin.I've run MBAM, BitDefender, AdAware and Nod32 and there are no viruses that I can find.I thought it might be that the computer has lost the association for .exe programs but that isn't the case if older programs run fine from a left click.

I use Windows firewall, Avast Free and Full version of Malwarebytes with malicious web-site blocking turned off. I also use Spyware Blaster. I use Windows 7. I am behind Cisco router.
Problem: When I use facebook.com either https or http, after a certain period of times or page visits, the facebook stops loading and "hangs" on a page not going back or forward. I either have to wait, or close it and open another browser. This has been going on for quite some time. I tried clearing everything with CCleaner, flushed DNS, Etc. When I ping, I get all 4 responses.
I'm having an annoying problem. With my desktop computer I'm unable to access the webmail login for my work website. I'm not positive, but I thought it might be due to the full version trial of Malwarebytes that I installed. I've uninstalled and reinstalled Malwarebytes using Revo Uninstaller, and now have just the standard version, and I still have the problem.
I can access my work website (except for the webmail login), but when I try to ping my work website I get "general failure" results. I also get "general failure" results when pinging the webmail login.I can access the webmail login through my laptop. The reason I think it might be Malwarebytes is because from what I remember random websites stopped loading after I opted for the full version trial.I tried disabling Windows Firewall and Security Essentials real time scanning I've tried to access the webmail login using Firefox, Chrome and IE and none worked. I've tried using my cell phone as a modem to bypass the router and that didn't work.
At win 7 login screen mouse & keyboard USB 2.0 doesn't work. We've tried this same mouse & keyboard in a diff computer & it worked fine.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI am trying to change the folder properties of a applications folder from read only. I am doing this per instructions from the apps provider to prevent crashes.
When I go to change the permissions it states I need admin privileges. The only account I have on the box is the admin however I did change the name to something besides admin. The account is definitely an admin account.
My problem is that even though I have only one user account defined on my machine and it is set to "Administrator" it is not being allowed to do admin types of things like deleting folders. I tried to create a user group but that's not an option on the Win7 Home Premium version that I use. How can it be that the sole account is not the admin even though it shows that it is in the account user setup?
