InstallShield Won't Launch - IKernel.exe Error?
Apr 13, 2012I'm trying to install a computer game but when I open up InstallShield, an error message comes up saying: "InstallShield Engine (iKernel.exe) could not be launchedInterface not recognized." I've contacted the game company but they said it's a problem with my computer. This has happened with multiple games by the same company and I don't know what to do. Why is this doing this? Is there anything I can do to solve this problem?

Sep 15, 2011So yesterday in the early AM's I was browsing my internet and all the sudden, bam.i lost my internet.No reason at all, it just happened. This is only my computer, everything else works fine (If internet is out, our TV's don't work)When I go to my little internet icon in the taskbar, it says Unidentified Network and I have no internet access what so ever.When I run CMD and use ipconfig /release I get this:"An error occurred while releasing interface Loopback Pseudo-Interface 1 : The system cannot find the file specified."I also got this error before:"An error occurred while releasing interface Local Area Connection : An address has not yet been associated with the network endpoint." Tech support kept telling me to use ipconfig /flushdns but whenever I entered it into CMD it gave me an error saying something along the lines of "command unrecognized" I cannot give you guys the full text of what CMD says since it's on a different computer.I am using a direct ethernet cord, not wireless.
* ipconfig /release and /renew and /flushdns
* Turn off firewall
* Update and Reinstall Driver
* Restarting my modem/router
* Restarting my computer
* Unplugging my ethernet cord and replugging it (also leaving it unplugged over-night)
* Manually assigning the 12 code I'm assuming IP

Jun 17, 2011I just did a clean Windows 7 install on my new Agility SSD. After getting most everything where I wanted it, I'm now getting a blank rectangular InstallShield box on my desktop at startup. I can "X" out of it, but it's annoying.
I also noticed that the "services" are totally different on 7 from XP.

Jul 25, 2012In advance: Sorry if this post is too long, or a repeat of a post that already exists (I searched but found none), or posted in the wrong category / sub-category. I don't usually have to ask questions on PC problems, but this one is simply too obscure.I have been having this problem installing certain programs for months now and have finally come to the conclusion that the installshield engine, or whatever corrupted it, is to blame.An example of the specific problem is listed below:

Note that the specifics of the program do not matter. Any program I attempt to install that uses the iKernel engine results in the same error message. For example, anything from futuremark, install or uninstall, yields the same message.completely re-install windows, but that would require the re-installation of more programs than I can count, though thankfully most are steam-apps that can be easily restored.

Jan 30, 2011Just started installing software on a new Windows 7 64 bit box. I uninstalled a useless extra utility program that came with my mobo. The program was unisntalled however every time I boot windows, an empty instalshield window with a blank button appears. If I click on the button the window closes or if I close the window by clicking on the red all seems well. I found that the process causing this window is ISUSPM.exe*32 which is InstallShield Update Service Update Manager using task manager.
How do I stop this process from spawning a window every time I boot?
Street Fighter 4 Crashes When Launched - Fatal Error
Aug 11, 2009I've been playing Street Fighter 4 perfectly until i tried to today.
Over the weekend I had some friends over and i hooked up my computer to a projector that one of the guys brought over, so that we could game out. Everything worked fine.
But today i tried to play using my regular monitor, and i get this message;
Fatal Error
Failed resetting the Direct3D device.
Other games run perfectly (Pro Street/Grid/COD 4/ PoP)
I'm running Windows 7 RC (7100)
GPU - Radeon 3850 AGP
CPU - Athlon X2 2.7ghz
RAM - 2GB
ALL drivers are up to date, including Direct X.
Notification Dll Has Not Been Registered?
Apr 22, 2012I get this error message when i boot up Windows 7:Wireless Configuration: Notification dll has not been registered, program will not work correctly.When i turn it on it goes into Windows Error Recovery mode and only gives me the options of Safe Mode or Start Windows normally.Whichever I choose looks like it's loading up but when it gets to the blue Win 7 Welcome screen the error message pops up.The only option is to click OK. When I do, nothing happens the page blinks on and off and won't go any further until I do a hard shut down.Before this happened i was trying to uninstall Windows live messenger.

I use my computer for logging amateur radio contacts and e-mail primarily.I uninstalled a program yesterday that I guess I shouldn't have. It was Roxio.After doing this I tried to open one of the logging programs. These programs are used for logging contacts,controling and following my radio as well as my antenna rotor, puts me on telnet and it even sends morse code fom the Function keys.Anyway when trying to open the program I ger an 'error 39' Component MScomm32.osx or one of it's dependencies is missing or unregistered.I had the same problem with another file and after spending over 60 bucks, I got it fixed... but they would only answer that one question and I couldn't follow up with other problems.Another program I use exhibits basically the same problem but it is MSINET.ocx.

Kaspersky caught it and removed it but not before it disabled my windows security service, "base filtering engine". I restored the service in the register but it won't start even though it is set to automatic. I think it won't start because the file bfe.dll was corrupted by the virus. I have another copy of the file obtained from a working computer with the same operating system but I cannot replace it because "I don't have permission".
