Ive just bought secondhand laptop hp mini 210-2000 with windows starter, am complete beginner but need to get rid of registered owners name throuout the system without complete system restore, have tried everything I can find on internet, but nothing comes up like what people are saying, or it just refuses to change name!

View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently took ownership of the explorer.exe file so that I could modify my Windows 7 start orb. Everything went well and my new orb looks great. I am now trying to give ownership back to TrustedInstaller using NT SERVICETrustedInstaller. It appears that ownership does in fact change to TrustedInstaller, however, I'm still able to change and modify the explorer.exe file, even though I'm not the owner anymore. I've gone into permissions but I can't "allow" any control on the administrator account. (it's all grayed out) I can only "deny" control. I remember seeing a warning about inherited permissions on that file but when I unchecked it, the only account remaining in the accounts list was TrustedInstaller.

So I went "Computer" right clicked the game "Open in new Window" than tried to install it by "Run as Administrator" on Setup. When I bring the laptop home and try to access the shares on the desktop, I am asked to enter user and pass (ok, I use the admin account on that desktop), the Seven shows me the list of shares. Very good, you might say. That is so until you try to enter the shares when it pops a "network error": "Windows cannot acess \xp-desktopshare1 You do no have permission to access \xp-desktopshare1. Contact your network administrator to request access." What access?! These are full shares for the admin account used to authenticate.
I have a third machine with Seven on it, this time a personal machine, not registered to a domain, and with this one I can properly access the shares mentioned earlier. Also, my laptop from work, can properly access shares from my work place and shares on the personal laptop with Seven on it. So this issue happens only when trying to access shares on XP at home.
I have a Windows 7 Home Presmium 64-Bir stand-alone computer. When I start it up I get a screen asking me to click on either owner or administrator. Is there a way this can automatically bypass and take me directly to my desktop?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am accessing another computer by read/write rights to specific folders.Today, I was at the host computer and I saw a file, that I deleted before, still there.When I was permanently deleting it, it was going off; but when I refresh, it was coming back.When I tried to just delete - recycle - it, it told me that I didn't have the rights to do it.When I checked the security options from the properties, it showed the owner as "Unable to display current owner" and didn't let me to change the owner or delete the file.What can I do in these kind of situations when current owner cannot be displayed or changed?(I understand the file can come from/to host computer, remote computer, and one of the external drives which may have a different owner -remote computer controls all the external drives, just some of the external drives has a creator owner in permissions also)
View 2 Replies View RelatedI tried running a program or bot on my Windows 7 Installation a few days ago. I assumed that the program would actually own the credentials of me since I was running it, but sadly that was not right as the program proceeded to tell me that it couldn't write to files. Which I found odd as I myself could both open then, read, add and then save with the changes remaining.
I had to actually add myself to the folder with "Full Control" before the program could run without any error. Now is it I ask, Why is that even required?. I thought it was implied that if I can access the folder, read and write to and from it, that any programs I run can do the same.
At least thats how it worked under XP, but yes I am aware that security has been tightened in both Vista and Windows 7. But seems rather useless having to assign myself to a folder I got access to already, before a program I run can access it.
I have 200 folders in the C:/user/owner/local with names similar to {4BAD3A78-8A70-44D6-AD84-CF42571B0CD6}. All of them show 0 bytes, 0 files, 0 folders. What the heck are these?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI get an access denied error when I try to open my CDocuments and Settings. Although I am the owner of the computer I was denied permissions to open the folder. So, I changed the owner of Documents and Settings from SYSTEM to Fasih(HP-PCHP) and this is me. Still I cant access. Also, I wanna revert the owner back to SYSTEM, just in case to prevent anything stupid. So I retraced the steps and now.. I cant change the owner back to SYSTEM (strange).

I just tried to install the latest iTunes update, but keep getting an error when it tries to access the C:Program FilesiPod folder.When I try to access the iPod folder directly through Windows Explorer, I get "Access is denied".The same happens when logged in with the system administrator account.When I right-click the folder and choose Properties > Security, the Current owner field shows "Unable to display current owner." And it won't allow either of the listed administrator accounts to take ownership.When I choose Properties > Security > Advanced > Owner, the Current owner field also shows "Unable to display current owner." And it won't allow me to Edit it either.I've tried opening the Command Prompt as the administrator, and deleting the folder, but it won't allow me to do that either.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI get this error message when i boot up Windows 7:Wireless Configuration: Notification dll has not been registered, program will not work correctly.When i turn it on it goes into Windows Error Recovery mode and only gives me the options of Safe Mode or Start Windows normally.Whichever I choose looks like it's loading up but when it gets to the blue Win 7 Welcome screen the error message pops up.The only option is to click OK. I use my computer for logging amateur radio contacts and e-mail primarily.I uninstalled a program yesterday that I guess I shouldn't have. It was Roxio.After doing this I tried to open one of the logging programs. These programs are used for logging contacts,controling and following my radio as well as my antenna rotor, puts me on telnet and it even sends morse code fom the Function keys.Anyway when trying to open the program I ger an 'error 39' Component MScomm32.osx or one of it's dependencies is missing or unregistered.I had the same problem with another file and after spending over 60 bucks, I got it fixed... but they would only answer that one question and I couldn't follow up with other problems.Another program I use exhibits basically the same problem but it is MSINET.ocx.
I installed Registry Booster on my mom's laptop. I used a video to slightly hack the registry to get it for free (don't interrogate me, she needed a cleanup badly). Reinstall2 - rmorsm.dll not registeredI did a SFC /scannow as stated in SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker and although it found and repaired some errors, none were of the 2 I mentioned above, and they reappeared also after doing the SFC scan.I even did several scans, but the problem still occurs.Googling either of these 2 error messages only yields: Missing Files but no side effects, which led me to the SFC scan in the 1st place, which solved the problem for him, but persist for me.
