Empty InstallShield Window On Every Boot After Uninstalling Program?
Jan 30, 2011
Just started installing software on a new Windows 7 64 bit box. I uninstalled a useless extra utility program that came with my mobo. The program was unisntalled however every time I boot windows, an empty instalshield window with a blank button appears. If I click on the button the window closes or if I close the window by clicking on the red all seems well. I found that the process causing this window is ISUSPM.exe*32 which is InstallShield Update Service Update Manager using task manager.
How do I stop this process from spawning a window every time I boot?
I downloaded a free programme from the Website C-net, then uninstalled it, unfortunately my touchpad disabled its self, there after. Consequently, I set a system restore, without effect. Enabling touch pad. Fujitsu Laptop Li3910 ( O/S Win 7).
My computer had a nasty virus which I think have since removed. The only problem is none of the programs in my program files are available. The folders are empty.I am at a bit of a loss here.If I search, I can find the programs so I know they are there somewhere!I am almost to the point where I want to scrub the hard drive and start from scratch. If I do this, how can I backup my program files that I have?Is there a way to drop them onto a back up hard drive, then just move them to the new fresh O.S.
After uninstalling the ATI 10.11 drivers as they were causing crashes in Black Ops, Windows will no longer boot after restarting, it just goes straight to the recovery screen. I've tried starting in Safe Mode but it gets to the ATIpcie.sys and goes to the recovery screen again
Can't change desktop wallpaper and all my program files folder are empty?I think it could be a virus or something. I have been told this can be useful.

I just did a clean Windows 7 install on my new Agility SSD. After getting most everything where I wanted it, I'm now getting a blank rectangular InstallShield box on my desktop at startup. I can "X" out of it, but it's annoying.
I also noticed that the "services" are totally different on 7 from XP.
I'm trying to install a computer game but when I open up InstallShield, an error message comes up saying: "InstallShield Engine (iKernel.exe) could not be launchedInterface not recognized." I've contacted the game company but they said it's a problem with my computer. This has happened with multiple games by the same company and I don't know what to do. Why is this doing this? Is there anything I can do to solve this problem?
In advance: Sorry if this post is too long, or a repeat of a post that already exists (I searched but found none), or posted in the wrong category / sub-category. I don't usually have to ask questions on PC problems, but this one is simply too obscure.I have been having this problem installing certain programs for months now and have finally come to the conclusion that the installshield engine, or whatever corrupted it, is to blame. An example of the specific problem is listed below:
Note that the specifics of the program do not matter. Any program I attempt to install that uses the iKernel engine results in the same error message. For example, anything from futuremark, install or uninstall, yields the same message.completely re-install windows, but that would require the re-installation of more programs than I can count, though thankfully most are steam-apps that can be easily restored.
I just installed build 7100 yesterday and i have really enjoyed it so far, but noticed one slight annoyance.
When I close a program or a window, the animation takes effect and the window begins to close, then pauses for literally a nano-second, before closing all the way. Its not much, but its noticeable enough to be an annoyance.
I've only been able to find one other post of someone complaining of the same issue, and I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this or if anyone has a fix.

I've been told that this is either a software issue, or a hardware issue. No matter what program I'm working in, or whatever key is being touched, or touchpad is being touched, the window suddenly disappears, and I'm thrown, usually, back to the desktop. At which point I need to go to the taskbar, click on the minimized program, and it will bring me back to the page I was working on. While I was typing this, this window disappeared, and what showed were the 3 other windows that were open. I have done a malware scan, etc. etc. and nothing shows up.
I've tried loading media center but when I do I get the message "Windows cannot open this program because it has been prevented by a software restriction policy. For more information, contact your system administrator." The computer is my home PC, I am the only administrator... I'm assuming one of the programs my buddy put on my computer is stopping the program from running. He said the programs would make my computer run better. I had to manually turn on windows media center before from my control panel before. I also tried running the program as admin or even finding the ehshell.exe and running it from their.
I have window 7 64 bits works on hp pavilion dv3 laptop The problem is that every time I push F2 or F4 or F4 or F6 .....F8 F10 .......etc I see the "window boot manager " screen it does not work like before whereas every single key takes you to a specific screen How to get rid of this problem ?
I have this very weird problem in which the 'Notification Area Icons' Window automatically pops up right after Windows Boots. Usually it shows after a minute or so after windows boots. I tried re - installing Windows but still the problem persists. I have a IBM Thinkpad T510 loaded with Windows 7 professional 32 bit. I googled this qute a lot but could not find a fix.
After rebooting my system, it recommended that i do a start up repair. After the repair completed i recieved the black screen right before choosing USER, so i tried 3x more to repair which each completed but same outcome till the point it just says cant repair automatically . Then i tried to system restore which failed also , but the catch is my system boots fine from Safe Mode.. what to do from Safe Mode to return my boot up back to normal?

Whenever I search in Windows 7, I want to have the ability to open found folders in a new window. If I r-click, that option is not there. Is there a way to add this to Windows 7?
Also: When I go to 'open file location', the file's folder opens in the same window - highly annoying. In Vista, it opens in a new window. Anyway to change this behvior in Windows 7 to act like Vista, so the file opens in a new window?
I am running into an issue where I can open a window/program with my mouse however once the window is open I cannot click inside of it. The window becomes inactive. I also have noticed I cannot right click on my desktop to bring up the properties. I can right click on the window in the task bar to close it but not in the window. Since this is happening I am limited to command prompt. I ran sfc /scannow with no errors. I tried with 3 different mice. I booted the computer into safe mode with command prompt and brought up the device manager to show devices not in use, and when the device manager window opened I could click inside it! since I could use the window I uninstalled all mouse drivers, and reinstalled my microsoft wireless usb mouse driver.. while in this safe mode I changed my mouse properties to system default as I read somewhere that can reset things. Next I booted the computer in safe mode (without command prompt) and still the same thing. I was trying to do a restore point as well however my Kaspersky antivirus 2012 is preventing that as i cannot find a way to kill the program through command prompt.
it's a western digital but when i uninstall a program or if a scan is completed a pop up screen comes up with the sound for the hard drive it sounds like a horn when i get popups from uninstalling or installing something

I am trying to uninstall ms office 2010 but there is not option of uninstalling it in control panel. Before this problem I tried uninstalling it using msicuu2 and MicrosoftFixit50450.

I have a little program that I want to load and run at the start up of my Rig, how do I do this? Is there some folder I have to put it in ? If so which one and where is it ? I have looked for a start up folder but can't see one any place.
My computer has given me that dang error that one of my USB port isn't recognized. I have tried all the fix options even called HP who told me that the circuits are dead (he didn't check anything as my printer is 4.5 years old) and offered to sell me a new model with a huge discount that was the exact price on their website. Anyway, my last option before buying a new printer is uninstalling and reinstaling my usb port. How do I know which port is which? Can it be the one called 'unknown port"?
I am trying to uninstall programs and it will not allow me to. Each time I try I get a message stating the system administrator has set paramiters to stop this. I am the system administrator its my home pc. I also can not download any updates for itunes. I get a message about windows installer service could not be accessed.
I have just got a Sony Laptop and on it was McAfee which expires next month so what I would like to know is if I delete it and install Microsoft security essential will this work?
My computer had been shut down for a few days. When I came back and booted back up, I noticed that AVG was no longer running. I couldn't seem to get it to start, so I tried uninstalling it since I had the 2012 version anyway, so I could update to 2013 and hopefully fix the problem. Every time I try to uninstall, I get a BSOD. Every time I try to install the new version, I also get a BSOD.
I haven't installed anything new or added new hardware, so the only thing I can think of is the latest AVG update did something. The last new program I installed was Guild Wars 2, but that was weeks ago (with no issues). At first I thought maybe this was a virus, but it looks like this is a common issue? Files attached.
