I am running a desktop with Windows 7 Pro 32-bit. When I first power it on the normal BIOS posts and then Starting Windows just hangs, no 4 colored orbs that turn into the Windows logo. I can hit the reset button and it boots and runs fine. I have tried the Launch Startup Repair after the reset button but doesn't seam to do anything

View 2 Replies View RelatedI upgraded to Win 7 Ultimate from Win XP Pro after my OEM disk picked up a few more scratches than it needed.During a re-installation it partially installed the windows XP setup with an error message of 'HAL.DLL' missing.I believe the residual setup loader is causing problemS.My PC insists on trying to boot from CD/DVD regardless of what I select.If I select boot from CD/DVD with my new Windows 7 disk I get the SAME message as if I didn't select boot from DC/DVD: Windows failed to start. This could be from a recent hardware or software change.
1.Please insert your windows install disk and click restart
2.Change language setting and click next.
3.Click repair... etc.
If you don't have the disk contact admin....ect.

I select the ' older version' and the system gives me the same listed above error...I select 'windows 7' and, well.... here I am, posting this thread from my PC, Windows 7, updated, gageted and all running smoothly...Hibernate sometimes boots and sometimes shows the same error.....Start menu 'Shut down' and 'Restart' also don't work on the odd occasion....I researched and downloaded EasyBCD to delete the 'older version of windows' but it appears to have only 'deleted' it from Windows 7's 'eyes' because ultimately the thing is still showing on my OS choice menu and is evidently causing a few hiccups.
I had Win XP on 1 HDD & installed Win 7 on a different HDD. I think I accidentally did a dual boot install because Win 7 won't boot without the the XP disk connected to the motherboard.
That was fine until my XP drive died yesterday. Now Win 7 won't boot. The first time I tried to repair, Win 7 was not even seen. so I booted into diskpart and made the partition active. Now it could be seen as an OS.
Then I did a startup repair. It did whatever it does & when it was finished I restarted the pc but it didn't boot I went back to diskpart and confirmed the partition was active. I went back startup repair and tried again.
This time it said it could not detect a problem, but it still will not boot. What else can I do? My pc is homebuilt. Right now I have the 1 sata drive, 2.53 ghz cpu, 4gb ram, onboard video & sound
I am using Windows 7 - Home Premium 64bit. There is only one user on this machine which is Administrator and this computer is not connected with any networks. I am trying to move all of User's folders to D: drive. I have successfully moved, My Pictures, My Documents, My Videos, Contacts and other folders but when I try to move "Desktop" folder, it gives me an error message at the end of the operation (after coping all the data to the new location) that "Folder Redirection Failed", "Operation was cancelled by the user". I have tried to change the location several times for this Desktop folder but every time I do it, I get this error message.
Now situation is... Data from my Desktop is present in its default location but also copied to D:UsersMyNameDesktop folder. Means, exactly the same data is placed on two different locations but default Desktop location is still at C: drive. Why I am unable to change my Desktop location? I am trying to change the location by right clicking on Desktop folder in User's folder, then Properties and then Location tab. It's exactly the same way by which I moved all of my other User's folders successfully.
I have an Acer Aspire AX3400 desktop running Windows 7 64bit. I have been having all sorts of problems over several months. The machine, when left unattended, appears to be always "recovering from serious error" with subsequent memory dumps. The machine would not shut down without me having to switch it off. Subsequently the machine would not start up properly. iTunes would not open without a reboot etc etc etc.I decided to backup all my data and restore to factory settings. View 8 Replies View RelatedI've recently purchased a used A665-3DV6 Toshiba Satellite Laptop. It had the BIOS password problem. So I've jumped the CMOS and cleared the password. I've initiated the "out of box state" and it went through the whole process. When it was finished I shut down the computer. Then the next morning I booted the computer up and it stated "HDD Boot Failed". I tried running Factory reset again but there is only a blinking cursor on the top left hand corner of the screen.

One day, it failed to go to Windows and stuck at Startup Repair. I think it was caused by invalid driver.
But anyway, my concern is the Startup repair is unable to repair a Windows that is installed in a vhd. Then what should I gonna to do?
My PC had a single hard drive with 300Gig. (I will refer to it as original HD64) Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit installed. Worked fine for a year or two. Eventually started crashing randomly, attempted lots of fixes but was reliably informed that it could be my hard drive. I decided I would be best with a new HDD and a fresh install. Bought a new hard drive. 250Gig (Will refer to it as new HD32). Unplugged originalHD64 from sata cable and power. Plugged in newHD32 into sata cable.
Inserted bootable USB flash drive with windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit on it. Went through full install including partition creation etc. Install crashed part way through but I think the dog knocked the power lead. Restarted install. Everything seemed to install fine. Plugged in original HD64 into second sata slot. Changed boot priority to New HD32. Booted fine.
Clicked on >Computer and found new HD32 as C: drive and Old HD64 as D: as I wanted it to be.
So far so good. But on next boot the CHKDSK thing ran. Then it booted ok. CHKDSK ran on next boot also. Then I managed too boot normally but realised there were a couple of things not working properly in the fresh install. Things like Windows Picture viewer would not open anything at all and a couple of other issues. And it was especially annoying that CHKDSK kept running. I asked for advice and was told that I should probably just format the new HD32 and resintall from fresh incase the install had somehow gone wrong.
So, I changed the boot order to Old HD64 and logged into my old windows OS which I had left installed in case anything went wrong. From there I navigated to disk management and formatted and repartitioned the NEW HD32 disk. Now I unplugged Old HD64. Plugged in bootable USB flash drive and tried to follow the exact same steps as I followed last time. But instead of going through the windows install I just get ... "The boot selection failed because a required device is inaccessible" (and some other text viewable in the following link).

So I reboot.
Press F8 to select boot device.
Choose USB flash drive.
I have unplugged the New HD32 and plugged in the old HD64 and done the same thing just to test if its a HD issue but I get the same problem.
My pc consist of a 200GB drive partition, one side has Win7 x86 and the other Windows Xp, Xp recently failed on me so i had to reinstall it, So i figure I'd installed Win7 X64 Since i use this Partition to run 3D and design Software, figure i could use the memory upgrade. Setup went fine, But now it boots right into win7 x64. Please tell me i can still boot into my other win7 x86 ? I never backed up some stuff on that side.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a HP G71-329WM running Windows 7 and I believe it recently updated windows via windows update. I attempted to turn on my computer and it would not boot, freezing on the start up screen. I managed to resolve this initial problem by going through safe mode and doing a system restore to a previous state. However, the laptop now boots up but does not recognize any networks and the wireless adapter cannot be recognised, meaning it only connections VIA ethernet cable. I have tried re-installing the drivers for the wireless adapter but this has not resolved the issue. Short of re-formatting (which I really don't want to do) I'm lost for how this can be resolved.

View 9 Replies View Relatedi just bought this new mouse razer lachesis 5600..when i plugged in the mouse, install the driver, it went ok, no problems at all.the problems start when i reboot, the screen just freeze at the motherboard screen (MSI 890fxa-gd70)..i remember reading from this forum, to try unplugged all usb device, i did that, and my pc can boot normally.. mouse also have no trouble if i plugged it after i got on windows.. but everytime i reboot with mouse plugged in, it always freeze at the mobo screen..or i should unplugged my mouse everytime i want to reboot?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a computer I am trying to refurbish. The old hard drive failed. I purchased a new hard drive. The CD/DVD player on the computer does not work, but I am able to boot from a USB. I was able to install Ubuntu from USB with no problems and now have a new copy of windows 7, 32 bit (computer is also 32 bit). I have tried to boot from the windows copy on the USB drive using many different tutorials as well as using the windows USB/DVD download tool. Each time I boot from the usb stick, a screen comes up that says windows failed to start. It says it may be due to a hardware problem. All other solutions to this involve using the recovery CDs or partition which I am not able to because the CD/DVD drive is broken, and I would like to not have to buy another one.

After I installed the new MB and the new drivers within Win 7 Pro 64 bit, the machine wouldn't boot. So I reverted to the Biostar MB and it still won't boot. I have tried Safe Mode (which just hangs) and I have run Startup Repair several times. How I can further troubleshoot/repair the boot?

I recently changed my BIOS boot order from the WD to the Seagate to see if I could still run XP. Turns out I can. My problem is that now I can't load Windows 7 back up on the other hard disk.Bear in mind that I have no other OS' loaded on any other partitions, and these HDDs are separate. The Seagate is IDE and the WD is Sata.I can load perfectly fine if I set the Seagate to load, but I get the infamous "Bootmgr is missing, Press Ctrl Alt Delete to restart" error msg when I try to boot win7.

I downloaded the driver from Dell Support website (apparently there are 3 under 'Network', and i get a lucky shot) and the bluetooth is fucntioning once again. however i checked through the device manager and found '!' marks on Bluetooth Peripheral Device. something is not right. Recent windows update (automatically) has failed to install over and over again, hence prompting to redownload the same update every time i turn on the laptop. Specifically, its is 'security update for the .NET Framework 4 on Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008, Windows 7, and Windows Server 2008 R2: January 8, 2013 (KB2742595)'.. There is another update coming (also tagged as Important) but come to fail as well. So currently there is 2 pending updates.While im having these problem, the boot time has increases noticeably. Long black screen appears before the login page turn up. Some says this is related to device/driver error. im not sure myself. Very recently i have my Avast Antivirus not working (turned off) and every time i ask it to turn on or resume, nothing happens. It remain not-functioning and so, i uninstall Avast and adopt AVG Antivirus. i think this is around when i was installing the bluetooth driver from Dell.

The enlarged data drive contains the folders of some installed games but the system disk is separate and was not altered in this way. i'm running an msi cx420 that's 6 months old, windows 7 32 bit. this problem only surfaced after i defragged my laptop and updated MSE and restarted. to be clear, my laptop isn't of much importance but my data is what i'm worried about. edit: also, i've tried to burn the windows 7 system repair disc on a USB as follows, but with no luck. i'm running windows xp on this computer and if anyone could also help me on this i'd be much obliged.
Basically the issue is that my computer won't boot. I have had it for just over a year and have never had any issues with it. It's protected and isn't used for anything dodgy, my brother uses it for SWTOR and I use it mostly for uni work and a bit of gaming here and there. Anyway out of nowhere it failed to start. Its done this once before and last time I just told it start Windows normally and everything was fine. This time not so much.
It loads up Startup Repair even if I select start Windows normally as it fails to do so and restarts itself automatically. I left it to detect errors but when I checked it a few hours later it still said searching so I cancelled and left it. I tried again yesterday and have left it on for approximately 25 hours to no avail, it still says searching! I have a lot of stuff I haven't backed up so I want to save it. Also note that there are no pieces of hardware plugged into the machine at all, only the mouse, keyboard and monitor.

Also I noticed that BIOS only detected one of HDDs, not SSD neither other HDD.Sometimes, Windows can be started, but it doesn't work very well.When trying to copy data from F: to an external USB, it copies for a short time and then Windows 7 becomes unresponsive. This also happens in safe mode.After several reboots, now Windows will not boot and I get the error "The boot selection failed because a required device is inaccessible." And the BIOS only detects the SSD.

I was on my tour to Cyprus and last night I came back I saw my PC uptime was 22days.I asked my brother wht's going on , he told me if you'll shut down pc, i'll not get it stared. Due to some reasons I restarted my pc and now its giving me this error"the boot selection failed because a required device is inaccessible". I've 2 drives 500GB + 1000GB, windows is on 500GB drive which I check through BiOS & shows SATA Port 0 = (0.0GB), SATA Port 1 WDC WD10EARS-0 (1000.2GB).

The simple situation is this: I have one simple NTFS boot disk that failed months after system image backups to my other internal HDD. So then I replace this boot disk w/ a new one. So Am I able to restore the system image from the HDD onto to the new boot disk?
