I have just upgrade to vista from xp, and now none of my games work, i used to have directx 9.c (i think) now i have 10, which i think is good. i had windows service pack 2 now i hve windows service pack 1 and i no longer have directx. when i try to play a game (from steam) it doesn't load were as it did before, and when i load world of goo it says i am missing direct3D, but i have no idea how to fix this.

Every game I play crashes, or fails to load at all, or gets into the game and crashes during map load. I have Vista Ultimate 64 installed. I have installed and re-installed the OS multiple times to no effect. I've downloaded all of the windows updates. During one of my first installs of vista, I was able to get in to games of codwaw, but then it would crash after about 5 secs.......

Problem is a game that will not load saves, always goes back to the game introduction. Have tried un-installing and re-installing but no difference. Chat help from Electronic Arts unable to resolve. I think it is a missing dll file. Saved ganes and check points are in "Documents" but something is missing that links them to the game program.

Installed under Win XP Service Pack. Same Error. I made sure the exe is under the Win XP Service Pack. Same Error. I even tried the "change the mss32.dll in the directory." Same Error. I did the built-in system scan in the game configure. It's not the best but it should still play.

But now, whenever I try to uninstall or install anything I've downloaded or try to update something or even change my firewall settings or system restore, I get a message that says: "The resource loader cache doesn't have loaded MUI entry." I don't know what to do. D: I'm freaking out here. I've been to so many different sites with this problem and I haven't seen anyone else who had it. v.v Someone please help meee! I haveone account, as admin, no password and I already tried "run as admin" for the game but still the same. When I go to parental controls it tells me none are set as I'm an administrator, so no way to turn them on or off! I don't want another account, I just want one account, I'm the only user and I want to be able to do eveything with my account. How can I completely turn parental controls off?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm running Vista Home Premium 64 bit and installed an Nvidia GeForce 9800 GT graphics card. I installed the current drivers but can't get Call of Duty World At War or FarCry 2 to run. I ran dxdiag, under the display tab I see the following:
DirectDraw Acceleration: Enabled
Direct3D Acceleration: Disabled
AGP Texture Acceleration: Enabled
When I run the 64 bit DxDiag,iIt tells me that all 3 are enabled. I also ran the System Requirements Lab Analysis on the NVIDIA site and it reported that I don`t have Video Card 3D Acceleration or Video HW Transform + Lighting. I had the card checked and it is working fine.
how to enable Direct3D,DirectDraw, and AGP Texture? I think mine just got disabled my itself, I don't know how to turn it back on. I tried reinstalling DirectX10 and the nVidia latest driver.

Finally (kinda) resolved that by going to the nVidia web page and Dling/installing the latest driver. However, two problems persist. minor - I can not use any Direct3D screensaver - keep getting "The screen saver can't run because it requires a newer video card or one that's compatible with Direct3D." major - my PC is MUCH slower - that is, for example, when I open Explorer, it takes ~ 45 sec. to a minute to open as opposed to nearly instantly before the BSOD. on startup, icons on the desktop show up as white objects and slowly change to the actual icon image a few at a time. Before this, icons initially (instantly) appeared as the actual icon.
HP had me reomve the video card and wait for a beep - none - and remove the RAM cards and wait for a beep - one short, one long. Now they want me to do a System Restore. I am not at all interested in this. Previous attempts have resulted in reinstalling programs/settings over several days - time I do not have. Any ideas on troubleshooting/resolving this? Can I confirm a good nVidia card? Could it be a driver problem?
Whenever I click the link to open an online radio station windows media player within internet explorer just says Ready - it doesn't even begin to buffer and doesn't play at all. Has anyone else experienced this recently?
View 9 Replies View RelatedThought I would take a break from work and see if there is a good demo to play on my newly installed Vista X64. Came across Painkiller Overdose Demo looked good downloaded it in about 7 min’s thought great lets shoot something. Clicked on the demo link in the start menu under games and got the error: Direct3D error: It was not possible to create the Direct3D rendering device. You may need to reinstall DirectX and/or update your graphic card. The graphics card is a Radeon x1950 (AGP) The annoying thing is I bought this like last year not realizing that PCI Express was the next thing and twice as fast. It has the latest Driver from the Radeon site 8-3_vista64_dd_59753.
I didn’t realise with the update to x64 that Vista automatically comes with Dx10. The thing is I have a game called Lost Planet Extreme Condition and on XP I would get weird graphic glitches this is one of the minor reasons I updated to Vista, because now when I run the game in Vista it runs flawlessly. This game comes with 2 launch modes LostPlanetDx9 & LostPlanetDx10. When on XP I would launch it with the Dx9 so when I installed Vista I had the game on my other drive so no need to install it, as I do with all my games. Anyway’ I decided to test it (not knowing at that point about Vista & Dx10) I launched it on Dx9 and it plays flawlessly as I said before
I installed this Demo on the Main Drive. So is it just an incompatibility issue with the Demo or is there some way to play this on the Dx10 Vista? One other thing I am annoyed about is that a while ago I bought GT Legends great game got it to play on my new Sony LCD TV and runs flawlessly on full everything? Also the only game for the pc where the PS2 controller I use through a Super Box 4 (PS2 to PC adapter) worked flawlessly, including the rumble. Well I had the adapter plugged in with the Controller connected and switched on when installing vista (tip for anyone installing vista have all the things you use connected and switched on cause Vista will recognize them saving you the process of hunting for drivers) didn’t recognize it. Does anyone know of a driver which I doubt, or even better a replacement to do the same job but on Vista.

I'm getting the "Incompatible with Direct3d" error message, but the thing is is hat my screensavers have worked before on the exact same Drivers I'm using now. I had my bios set to load up to the state it was in before the power failed and came home to find I had a power outage and the screen showed one of the windows start up loading green dash scroll bars stuck in the middle. Safe mode no good. Boot to Vista disc and repairs cannot be made. Pulled ram sticks to check for bad ones and no go.

To enter to the user i use the task bar (i ctrl alt delet) then i nw task the explorer. This started happing after I was virused. i was able of removing the virus but i can't fix my computer. I think maybe on of the seeting was deleted from the system 32. I tried a lot of stuff but i counldn't fix th problem. I even tried creating a bat file that starts the explorer everytime but i failled, cause it will start when the account starts not before.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI can sucessfully load up the game and all however whenever i try to join a multiplayer game(says "Joining Server... then crashes" or finish loading a single player game(after the textures are loaded or the shaders it just crashes) OR whenever i click audio in settings my game(right after i click audio it just goes boom) just crashes back to desktop with the BF2142.exe error. I've read about many different crashes with other people but this seems different, people have had crashes during map changes, splash screen, and a few secs after joining the server, havent seen anyone with my problem of crashing when i see the "joining server.." box.
I've tried
1)reinstalling/repatching
2)run the exe as admin.
3)disable UAC and reinstall/repatch after restart
Im pretty sure my computer can handle the game, my old one did fine and this one owns it. Im kind of lost, I've tried many things and this freaking game just doesnt want to work.
I installed SS2 on this PC (runs windows vista home premium 32bit), but sadly the game won't run correctly. I've looked around a little bit, and I see that not watching the videos is a common problem. But that's not my main problem <:/ I can run the game just fine for about 30 seconds... suddenly, it just freezes. The last sound is looped, and the mouse is frozen.
View 7 Replies View Relatedi have a pavilliion dv6000t, intel cpu laptop...anyhow...i look at the device manager, under intel pro 100, and 3945 intel wirles...it does not say device is running properly.....i have this stated-windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. the driver may be corrupted or missing (code 39) there are exclamation points besides everything in the networking adapter in device manager. what might be the problem here...is it the drivers for the 2 devices?
View 5 Replies View RelatedAgain. Last time this happened, everyone blamed McAfee, so I killed McAfee and installed AVG Free which is good because it is free. But now I have exactly the same symptoms:
a) Won't download load messages from the server, tries, but eventually times out
b) Happens with Windows Mail, Windows Live Mail and Outlook 2007
I've now uninstalled AVGFree re-booted and the mail client(s) still stick at "downloading measage 1 of 65" then timeout after 180 seconds. here do I look next? Webmail is fine.XP and McAfee was rock solid problem free for years - Windows Mail performance is shocking even when working properly? My son bought a new Dell laptop last month with Vista , he has ripped out Vista, installed XPSP2 (he used MY spare licence!) and he works grief free. I've been using Vista for 6 months now - is time to quit and return to XP peace and stability?Oops I'm using an Acer 5630 laptop with 2GB of RAM Vista Home Premium, Intel Core Duo 1.66G CPU. At idle Vista is grabbing just less than1GB of RAM (I've only the standard gadgets running + IM, A/V is uninstalled while I try to get eMail working again. Is it me, but isn't an O/S that needs 2GB to run a basic suite of MS office applications reasonably well, a bit out of hand?
