Nov 23, 2009On my laptop I am using Vista Home Premium 64 and when I open the Window Update application from control panel or start the window opens blank white with This page cannot load.

Oct 13, 2008when going to the windows update window,i get a white blank page and it says "the page failed to load"i did restart, same issue.
what is it all about?
and another thing, i don't have a Floppy drive in my computer however a Floppy A: drive is present in "Computer" how can i remove it from the list?

Oct 4, 2009Vista Home Basic SP2. When I try to run Windows update all I get is a blank page that says "The page failed to load". I've looked all around and have found a lot of people with the same or a similar problem but no firm solutions. I haven't used it in maybe a week and it's worked fine up till now. There have been no real changes since I used it last. Does anyone have a clue?

Mar 18, 2009my windows vista home will not load to the login page. it all started when my computer would not shut down. as it wouldnt i pressed the off button left it for a couple of mins and turned it back on again. it came up saying that there was a problem and i selected to have it automatically fix the problem. it said it could take a few times for it to work. on the second try it said it could not fix the problem and gave option send message to windows.....

Oct 28, 2009Several days ago there was a large number of updates available to download. I allowed the system to update all of them. Three, KB974234, KB972581 and KB973709 it was shown on the update history page as failing to download. Reading as to a possible solution, I tried to load them manually, saving those files to my desktop, right clicking on each, to run as an administrator. After each loaded I got a message telling me they were already installed on my system. My question is why does the "failure" notice remain on my history page and how can I delete those three file entries?

Apr 8, 2008I have Vista x64 with 8GB DDR 2 ram, 2x8800GTX cards, 4 hard drives (2x500gb, 1x150gb and 1 raptor 32gb OS). I back up daily, and yesterday encountered a problem requiring a restore. Since System Restore is useless as it didnt save my "create a restore point" I decided to go ahead with my daily Ghost backup (v12.0 used). Hell broke loose. Ghost's always worked fine under XP but Im writing this article for any suggestions on X64 (if its even the problem). You see, when booting from the Ghost CD, what usually happens are one of 2 things:
1) The Symantec page wont even load, the PC will give a BSOD error message until I remove all but 2GB RAM, then Symantec loads etc
2) When RAM removed, Symantec loads, finds the restore point, restores the drive. Then with around 20 seconds to go I get a BSOD (same one as before). Try booting the PC and for a split second you get the BSOD and it restarts.
If you try loading the CD again, you get the BSOD. The only way to get around the BSOD (and to start the whole process again) is to PHYSICALLY remove the hard drive you reinstalled on, format it with a different computer, plug it back in and start over. This was mental! I restored onto a (newly purchased) Raptor drive. No idea what the problem is. Does anyone recommend any new software to backup a whole PC (quickly) and possibly retore itself within Windows, or ways around the problems above?
Browsers, Blank Page And A Swirling Load Icon That Animates Indefinitely
Dec 16, 2007my os is vista home premium. my isp is verizon and i connect thru an actiontech wireless modem/router. the majority of sites i try to visit with any browser time out. no error message. just a blank page and a swirling load icon that animates indefinitely. i have no problem pinging any address on dos prompt though and most non-browser progs that use the net function perfectly; curiously, i can't sign onto msn messenger but i can sign on to aim and yahoo messenger.
some sites i have no trouble accessing: google, cnn, Internet, ytmnd (homepage only), yahoo (homepage only), and fortunately, this forum. there seems to be no rhyme nor reason why a select few pages are favored.......

HOWEVER, I do not have Microsoft Office 2003 installed on my system and this is not my issue! Windows Activation Page
Mar 23, 2008just been looking at the windows activation page on my new PC, Where it says product ID: it has a list of numbers in this order= 5 numbers - 3 numbers - 7 numbers - 5 numbers Non of these numbers match what is on the sticker on the back of the machine! On that sticker it's a mix of numbers and letters. Do I just click continue with the line of numbers which is already there, or do I insert the number and letter combination which is on my sticker?
I posted this in another forum and one person said the id that is already there and the key on the sticker should be different! The other person said delete the numbers and put the letter and numbers from the sticker in there!
Web Page Windows Not Closing
Mar 22, 2010An odd thing as occured in the past week. I am using Vista 64bit OS. As we all know, when we click the (x) in the upper right to close a web page, it should close on one click. Also when going to the task bar and right clicking to close the page. It is taking me three or more clicks to close the page. The back arrow seems un-affected. The open web page seems to hang and then closes.I have no problems in closeing normal windows within the os.I've checked for malware using malwarebytes and nothing comes up. I also have no viruses according to my payed version of AVG. I keep my system clean of junk files etc.

I can't switch into safe mode, safe mode with networking, safe mode with Command Prompt and Last Known good configuration. Starting Windows Can Not Load File Perporly
Mar 23, 2008Everytime i enter to my user, the explorer.ese doesn't load but the document file loads. To enter to the user i use the task bar (i ctrl alt delet) then i nw task the explorer. This started happing after I was virused. i was able of removing the virus but i can't fix my computer. I think maybe on of the seeting was deleted from the system 32. I tried a lot of stuff but i counldn't fix th problem. I even tried creating a bat file that starts the explorer everytime but i failled, cause it will start when the account starts not before.

Mar 21, 2009The last time an update was installed was in January..since the next time i was offered an update, Windows Update or any of the programs that use windows update fail to update. Also i can't download the updates manually..standalone msu installers also dont work.. windows defender, IE8 installations also fail to update. And unfortunately i have deleted the recent system restore checkpoints before i knew about this problem. Windows Update gives error 80070002, i have tried the "solution" to delete temp update files, and all other solutions i could find on the internet. Windows defender gives the same error.
The updates can be downloaded from windows update, but cannot be download (not even manually in .msu package) I also lost many shortcut files of MS Office (the icon turned white and they lost their target). Some shortcuts of 3rd party programs are also lost (which were supposed to be in c:windowsinstallerlabla I have Windows Vista Home Basic with SP1 (SP1 came with the ssytem when i bought it). This is very weird. I have no other choice than to reformat drive and use recovery disk.
Stated-windows Cannot Load The Device Driver And Wireless
May 15, 2010i have a pavilliion dv6000t, intel cpu laptop...anyhow...i look at the device manager, under intel pro 100, and 3945 intel wirles...it does not say device is running properly.....i have this stated-windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. the driver may be corrupted or missing (code 39) there are exclamation points besides everything in the networking adapter in device manager. what might be the problem here...is it the drivers for the 2 devices?

a) Won't download load messages from the server, tries, but eventually times out

I've now uninstalled AVGFree re-booted and the mail client(s) still stick at "downloading measage 1 of 65" then timeout after 180 seconds. here do I look next? My son bought a new Dell laptop last month with Vista , he has ripped out Vista, installed XPSP2 (he used MY spare licence!) and he works grief free. I've been using Vista for 6 months now - is time to quit and return to XP peace and stability?Oops I'm using an Acer 5630 laptop with 2GB of RAM Vista Home Premium, Intel Core Duo 1.66G CPU. At idle Vista is grabbing just less than1GB of RAM (I've only the standard gadgets running + IM, A/V is uninstalled while I try to get eMail working again. Is it me, but isn't an O/S that needs 2GB to run a basic suite of MS office applications reasonably well, a bit out of hand?

It tells me to insert my installation disc and restart your computer however when I do that I go right back to the previous screen which I just described. I already changed the boot order to boot from the DVD drive first however it continues to skip this screen and keeps looping to the same screen. Does anyone know another way to load my disc so I can continue with the repair?.
