On vista (32bit), Game Overlay doesn't seem to work...Maybe because game overlay doesn't support directx10 So should i instal directx9? what would directx9 change? Or can anybody tell me how to let game overlay run with directx10? (btw, I would like to use gameoverlay in guild wars)

It does not happen with non steam games. And after minimizing, the overlay flicker goes away. I would really like to know wtf is going on here. Latest drivers...vista 64, no viruses, SLI 285 GTX.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have had Windows Vista 64 for 2 Months now and of that period of time it worked soundly for about 2 Weeks. I am NOT an irresponsible User, I don't just delete Data, I know a little something about computing, I don't visit or download from dubious sites etc.
1) Without any reason software suddently doesn't work.
a) I installed a Antivirussoftware - after 3 Weeks it suddently didn't work any more (Kaspersky) I couldn't reinstall it.
b) I installed a new Antivirussoftware - after 5 days it didn't work anymore.
c) 4 days later I started to get errormessages "Windows Defender doesn't work any more" - "Windows Hostprocess doesn't work anymore"
So the problem I need solved involves a Laptop running Vista and a Digital Download copy of Rollercoaster Tycoon 3 Platinum however the game doesn't just start up because the laptop has a dual core and the Dual core FIX that's on the net makes the DIGITAL download version require a disc.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have Vista Home Premium 64bit, I'm trying to install and run aBETA game I need to test, all goes fine until I try to run it, I get themessage "Parental controls doesn't allow for this game to run". I haveone account, as admin, no password and I already tried "run as admin" for the game but still the same. When I go to parental controls it tells me none are set as I'm an administrator, so no way to turn them on or off! I don't want another account, I just want one account, I'm the only user and I want to be able to do eveything with my account. How can I completely turn parental controls off?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have just upgrade to vista from xp, and now none of my games work, i used to have directx 9.c (i think) now i have 10, which i think is good. i had windows service pack 2 now i hve windows service pack 1 and i no longer have directx. when i try to play a game (from steam) it doesn't load were as it did before, and when i load world of goo it says i am missing direct3D, but i have no idea how to fix this.

Dungeon Keeper is one of my all time favourite games, took me about a week to find this fix, been working on it really hard. You don't need DosBox, or Virtual Servers etc, just Windows Vista, and Dungeon Keeper. I am at work at the moment, so I can't post what to do to make it work, but will do shortly, on my break or something.

Im using limited user on vista/xp but some of my game does not work like gameguard. anyhow to recover administrator password?? the debug administrator is lock(has pw cant open) and my brother don let me play games. i did try other method but dint work.

However, it will not let me enlarge the window or change from simply a black screen. It says it is not responding in task manager, and I have to end the program.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI just bought a Hp 8300 with the Windows media center running Vista. If I try and watch the TV, it will pause and need to restart the computer to use the computer. It just locks up. Hp Tech support had me install new drivers, then they had me do the reinstall to original settings.. It worked until I tried to record, then it locked up again and the TV doesn't work again. It will lock up after watching the TV about 15 seconds. I returned the computer and got another one, it does the same thing, Tech support told me I had a bad tuner (on 2 computers?) they sent me a new tuner, that didn't work. Then they said I needed to reinstall the factory settings from the disk, they sent that to me and that did not fix the problem. The computer did not come with a new monitor and I am using a Sony flatscreen, its about 4 years old. Is that my problem? I'm going to take the computer to the store and let them see if they can make it work with a new monitor.

Vista search doesn't seem to work at all on my computer. Indexing Options (from the Control Panel) says that 34,894 items are indexed and Indexing Options lists Microsoft Office Outlook, Offline Files, and Start Menu and Users in the Included Locations and the Exclude column shows "Default" Opposite Users in the Included locations. If I go to Advanced in Indexing Options and check various common file types like .doc and .xls they are marked (the box is checked) for index file names and contents. if I go to a folder that has a bunch of .xls file and type in the search box the start of a file name that I can plainly see in the list of files in that folder, the full list of files in that folder collapses to a list of one extraneous file that isn't at all what I'm looking for. I have just re-built
the index and still have the sam problem. Needless to say search for file content doesn't work either - since I can't even search for file names.
if I click on Start > Control Panel -- click on Programs -- under Programs and features -- click on. Turn Windows features on or off" -- the box next to ???Indexing Service??? is unchecked. That doesn't make sense to me because the Indexing Options has indexed things.
I just did a clean install on my dell with vista home premium (32). Everything works fine except no music CDs, DVDs, or software CDs will autoplay. I've changed the settings in CP to different selections and it still doesn't work.

I keep getting an error message (Microsoft Windows Fax and Scan Has Stopped Working) and then it shuts down without any chance to look at Tools. The only changes that have been made that I know of is a bunch of MS Security updates that had been failing for some unkown reason. I had to update them manually one at a time.

WinRAR It just doesn't work!!!Everytime I try to extract files it says : " No archives found" or that it cannot create folder. I installed it all over again but it still doesn't work! BTW I have MS Vista Home Premium 64bit SP1 OriginPro 8 Cannot open a file that is not in the folder that was created when the program was installed. Well, that wouldn't be a major problem if I could open that folder or, for that matter, if that folder really existed outsidse the program.
I have onboard sound with an asus m2n sli deluxe mobo. I am dual-booting xp and vista and my speakers work on my xp partition. I have them set as the default device and when I test them they work but when I try to listen to music or any audio it doesn't work.

View 4 Replies View RelatedSo before installing Java 64 bit (uninstalled) then 32 bit (works with Limewire), uTorrent doesn't work anymore. As soon as I start it, it now KILLS my inet connection and I need to reboot each time to have it working again. I tried run as admin, enable/disable upnp, set forwarding, limit incoming connections... I would ask for a new/ more compatible BT client but I already in the middle of downloading gigs worth of stuff with uTorrent.

I've used XXCOPY and Robocopy to successfully back up entire volumes to an eSATA connected drive, but when I try to do the same to a newly acquired NAS drive, it doesn't work right. Instead of copying "only" the files that are new (or changed since the last backup), Robocopy copies every file over again. And XXCOPY (free version) won't copy at all to the NAS drive. I downloaded the 60day trial of XXCOPY home, and it does work right, (except it recopies lots of zipped files) but XXCOPY home costs $40. Here's a typical command (from a batch file) for each: Robocopy E: \DLINKVolume_1E-BACKUP /MIR /R:1 /W:1 and xxcopy e: \dlinkvolume_1e-backup /clone/ff I also found RichCopy, which I tried, and find it also copies files that are already in place on the NAS drive. Could it be that I have a problem with the way I've set up the NAS? I'm probably overlooking something basic,

Now in Vista Business 64 bit SP2, it runs incredibly slowly, to the point where it isn't really useable anymore. Does anyone else use DotColor, and have they found a way to get it to run in Vista? Or is there another freeware equivalent that will tell you the RGB/CMYK/Hex value of any pixel on the screen?

The F&S software will not allow me to configure a FAX Account. I have uninstalled and reinstalled my modem (Zoom 3025C, Conexant chip set). Vista has the modem configured on COM3, and the modem is visible from CONTROL PANEL>PHONE AND MODEM as well as the device manager.F&S has no accounts configured. When I attempt to add an account, it reports "No modems configured". I uninstalled the modem driver and the modem software. I tried the same steps using another Agere 56k fax modem, but obtained the same results. Can anyone recommend a troubleshooting process, for either fixing this, or for resetting the F&S modem database? Is there a way to uninstall and reinstall F&S?
