I have verizon 1 main account and 2 sub accounts. I was able to set the 2 sub accounts up with no problem but the main one for the life of me I can't figure out how to get it set up. It keeps giving me a port 110 error which I am understanding is a known issue. Has anyone else been able to get it fixed or know where I can look to fix it. I really need this set up and its driving me crazy.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm having a problem with my MS Office suite 2003 on my new PC (Belarc analysis below). Two issues that have been coming up for me are that my email settings in Outlook won't allow me to bring in my email (IMAP/SMTP set up) and the second is that any time I try to change my office assistant it keeps telling me I don't have enough memory (!). What's going on with this? After all, this is a 3 GB machine, things that worked on my 1 GB shouldn't have a problem.

I filled in POP3 on the first part of the server dialogue box and SM(P?)T on the second box. These were complete random guesses as I have no idea what they mean or what the correct ones are, far less how to find them. Why do they have to make these systems so difficult? View 3 Replies View RelatedI had been getting a variety of different newsgroups via news.verizon.net for years. Recently on about 5/11/08, I suddenly could not connect to this source any more. In the meantime, various newsgroups from msnews.microsoft.com continued to work as always. I have been in chat sessions more than three times with Verizon on this matter and each time, all my settings seem to be fine and they cannot solve the problem. I have noted if I try to bring any other new newsgroup, they all fail in the process of trying to bring in their list of groups.
The error message is the same as when I try to connect to news.verizon.net. I have attached a file showing the error message. lastly, I don;t believe it is the particular computer, a Vista Home HP Laptop that I am using as other machines on my wired network no longer can connect to the Verizon newsgroups. It is not my router as I directly connected one machine to the DSL modem and it still could not connect.
In Control Panel - Mail - Mail Setup - email accounts, I type in the required details to set up an existing mail and it doesn't recognise it when it tries to read the server (red cross instead of tick). I have tried a Yahoo account, Windows Live account and another one, and tried using "unencrypted" and since my knowledge of Vista is fairly basic, I am not sure about doing it manually.

When I have internet explorer open I used to be able to click on the upper right hand side of the screen in the little mail icon and outlook would open. Now when I click on it nothing happens. The only way to get to my email now is to click on the bottom left hand side, start and scroll up to email. Has a setting been changed?

So far as I am aware I've followed all the printed instructions but still can't get the account to work. Step by step this is what I've done:
1 clicked Tools>Accounts>Add
2 (a) on the Properties>General Page I've typed my wife's name in Mail Account
(b) in User Information I've put her name
(c) in Email Adress I've put her name xxxxxxxxxx@btinternet.com
(d) ticked 'Include this account when receiving mail or synchronising'3 on the Servers Page:

View 4 Replies View RelatedMy system restore fails every time I attempt it. This has happened the last 3 times I had a need to attempt restore. (Three attempts separated by months in time, about different issues.) This time, I am thinking something may be wrong with my system restore function.
In this case, it is simply a matter of trying to roll back a browser update.
I saw a whole list of available restore points, and I went to the second one back - from only a few days ago. The restore failed.
I am using Windows Vista Home Premium, OEM from Gateway Laptop about 1.5 yrs old. I allow most updates.
About a week ago, I realized I could no longer send email. Same goes for my laptop on my home wireless network. Everything has been working fine for years and I don't recall making any changes that might affect the email. I have changed to port 587 and checked the authenticity required box but it didn't do any good. I went through Comcasts instructions for setting up email using Windows Vista, but it's still a no go. Another suggestion I read about is email scanning software. I turned of Norton 360 email scanner but it didn't fix the problem.

It gives me the option of allowing it or cancelling it - cancelling means I don't know what the program is and don't want it to load. What the heck is going on? Is this mal-ware? Is it already on my computer? My mal-ware scans with Ad-Aware don't mention it. Nor do scans by Windows Defender. But it's spooky....
