I'm having a problem setting up the mail account. I know e Windows goes to Outlook, but when I try to set up windows to use, it always shows up "Dial-up". I have them set"never dial-up", but the box won't change. I have other emails that work fine, but on this I'm baffled...
I have tried to set up an email acount with microsoft windows, but only got as far as receiving an error report. I filled in POP3 on the first part of the server dialogue box and SM(P?)T on the second box. These were complete random guesses as I have no idea what they mean or what the correct ones are, far less how to find them. Why do they have to make these systems so difficult? How do I find out this information?
I am trying to set up my email account for: anyafaires@yahoo.co.uk on my new laptop, on windows mail, I keep getting the error message. What am I doing wrong? I am putting pop.mail.yahoo.com as the incoming server, and smtp.mail.yahoo.com as the outgoing one.

In Control Panel - Mail - Mail Setup - email accounts, I type in the required details to set up an existing mail and it doesn't recognise it when it tries to read the server (red cross instead of tick). I have tried a Yahoo account, Windows Live account and another one, and tried using "unencrypted" and since my knowledge of Vista is fairly basic, I am not sure about doing it manually.
I'm trying to set up a new email account on a new laptop. I've got my own email account on my own PC but want to set up a separate account for my wife on the laptop. So far as I am aware I've followed all the printed instructions but still can't get the account to work. Step by step this is what I've done:
1 clicked Tools>Accounts>Add 2 (a) on the Properties>General Page I've typed my wife's name in Mail Account (b) in User Information I've put her name (c) in Email Adress I've put her name xxxxxxxxxx@btinternet.com (d) ticked 'Include this account when receiving mail or synchronising'3 on the Servers Page: (a) Incoming Mail POP3 I've entered mail.btinternet.com (b) Outgoing Mail SMTP I've entered mail.btinternet.com (c) in Email User Name I've entered my wife's name (not the email address) (d) when I try to enter a password the space is grayed out..............
I'm trying to set up a new email account have followed the instructions all ok until it gets to the email server names for incoming and outgoing mail. how do I find out my email server names?
I can not get windows mail to accept my gmail account. I have set it up many times the exact way I am showed how, but I can not get it to take. I keep getting a message the it can not verify my credentials.
I have a Windows Live Mail account and a Yahoo account and they both show up on the left hand side of my Window Live Mail account so I can choose which account I want to use or, for example, which inbox to look in. At the bottom, also on the left hand side of my Windows Live Mail account, it shows 'Add e-mail account', which is what I want to do with a new 'AOL' account and I want it to show on the left hand side like the two other accounts.
So I made a new AOL e-mail account, clicked 'Add e-mail account' at the bottom of my 'Windows Live Account', then I put in my new AOL e-mail account and password where it showed me. Then I clicked next.
The next page was all about my email server. When I did this before with a new e-mail account, it was all filled out automatically for me, but this time, all the blanks were left open and I have no idea what to fill in. I believe once I have this information, the AOL e-mail account will automatically then show on the left hand pane of my Windows Live Mail account below the other two accounts.
My email account and online bank account was recently hacked so I'm absolutely freaked out and I'm terrified of using the internet to buy things/book holidays. I am running Vista home premium and my AV is Kaspersky 8.0.0.357 (which has obviously failed to do its job). This is my Hijack this log file:is v2.0.2

Just turned on the Guest Account for the first time. When I switch to this account, the desktop comes up with a bunch of misc blanked-out icons which it will not allow me to delete. And there's a blizzard of "Windows cannot open this file" messages - for shortcut links and for ..exe files including rundll32, issch, eullauncher, sttray, etc. How do I clean this up and start the Guest acct with a blank desktop?
I wanted to either set up my yahoo account or hotmail account to windows mail. I also wanted to know how i can configure it in with my internet explorer so that way when I am trying to email someone it can just automatically pop up!

Aol says to use: The basic information that you need to setup using IMAP and POP3 is as follows: Your e-mail address is screenname@aol.com or screenname@aim.com. Be sure to include the @aol.com or @aim.com suffix. The incoming mail (POP) server address is: imap.aol.com and imap.aim.com for IMAP, and pop.aol.com or pop.aim.com for POP3. Check the box for leaving messages on the server. The outgoing mail (SMTP) server address is: smtp.aol.com or smtp.aim.com, port: 587. Your user name is your AOL or AIM screen name. Your password is your AOL?? or AIM?? password-------I typed all the fields up to the outgoing info. the box would no accept : smtp.aol.com, port 587.
I have Windows VISTA Ultimate. I have a recognised fax modem installed. I have verified VISTA can test and validate it is working. When I try to set up a Fax Account - Fax and Scan / Tools / Fax Accounts / Add / Connect to a fax modem / Chose a Modem Name - no matter what I enter in this field, I get an error message "The mentioned fax server is not available. Please correct the server name and try again"
I remember the solution involved creating an admin account to change a setting. I don't remember what I changed either. So that account sits there, unused, and I've decided to remove it. The problem is that I don't know how. In account management, for that account, there is no "delete the account" or "change account type" options. Does anyone know why this is?
I can receive mail but cannot send it. The latest error message is: Subject 'trying with new security setting', Account: 'pop.mail.nmu.edu', Server: 'adinet.com.uy', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '250 SIZE 30720000', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): Yes, Server Error: 250, Error Number: 0x800CCC7D.
I'm trying to set up an account but when it gets to the POP3 & SMTP I'm not quite sure what to enter there. It's very hard for me to send out attachments or just general mail unless I have it. I'm using Windows Vista and I do have an hotmail email account. You can respond back to that email which is mz_nette2fine4u@hotmail.com I'll check it periodically to see if anyone has responded back to me.
I get this message when sending email. The connection to the server has failed. Subject '', Account: 'mail.comcast.net', Server: 'smtp.comcast.net', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E
I'm having a problem with my MS Office suite 2003 on my new PC (Belarc analysis below). Two issues that have been coming up for me are that my email settings in Outlook won't allow me to bring in my email (IMAP/SMTP set up) and the second is that any time I try to change my office assistant it keeps telling me I don't have enough memory (!). What's going on with this? After all, this is a 3 GB machine, things that worked on my 1 GB shouldn't have a problem.

I've had an account that has worked for a while now, but now when I try to email pictures or anything, I get a message that says no profile has been created... so I treid recreating my profile, and whenI get to the whole pop3 server thing, I get a message that says "Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity. Account: 'md38.embarq.synacor.com (1)', Server: 'md38.embarq.synacor.com', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10053, Error Number: 0x800CCC0F" can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong? After setting up my email account with windows mail using my talk talk email address, for some reason when I'm posting messages to your help forum, it is showing my MSN email address. What is happening here? I've checked all the info via Tools, Accounts, and it only shows my talktalk email??
I have verizon 1 main account and 2 sub accounts. I was able to set the 2 sub accounts up with no problem but the main one for the life of me I can't figure out how to get it set up. It keeps giving me a port 110 error which I am understanding is a known issue. Has anyone else been able to get it fixed or know where I can look to fix it. I really need this set up and its driving me crazy.
