I can not get windows mail to accept my gmail account. I have set it up many times the exact way I am showed how, but I can not get it to take. I keep getting a message the it can not verify my credentials.
View 9 RepliesI'm trying to set up a new email account on a new laptop. I've got my own email account on my own PC but want to set up a separate account for my wife on the laptop. So far as I am aware I've followed all the printed instructions but still can't get the account to work. Step by step this is what I've done:
1 clicked Tools>Accounts>Add
2 (a) on the Properties>General Page I've typed my wife's name in Mail Account
(b) in User Information I've put her name
(c) in Email Adress I've put her name xxxxxxxxxx@btinternet.com
(d) ticked 'Include this account when receiving mail or synchronising'3 on the Servers Page:
(a) Incoming Mail POP3 I've entered mail.btinternet.com
(b) Outgoing Mail SMTP I've entered mail.btinternet.com
(c) in Email User Name I've entered my wife's name (not the email address)
(d) when I try to enter a password the space is grayed out..............
keep getting these error msgs.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a Windows Live Mail account and a Yahoo account and they both show up on the left hand side of my Window Live Mail account so I can choose which account I want to use or, for example, which inbox to look in. At the bottom, also on the left hand side of my Windows Live Mail account, it shows 'Add e-mail account', which is what I want to do with a new 'AOL' account and I want it to show on the left hand side like the two other accounts.
So I made a new AOL e-mail account, clicked 'Add e-mail account' at the bottom of my 'Windows Live Account', then I put in my new AOL e-mail account and password where it showed me. Then I clicked next.
The next page was all about my email server. When I did this before with a new e-mail account, it was all filled out automatically for me, but this time, all the blanks were left open and I have no idea what to fill in. I believe once I have this information, the AOL e-mail account will automatically then show on the left hand pane of my Windows Live Mail account below the other two accounts.

I've repeatedly checked instructions as given through many sites to make sure all the right ports are typed in for Gmail, all the right boxes checked. I even unchecked the box someone suggested in the Norton security outgoing mail filter, and I still get this message:

It's very hard for me to send out attachments or just general mail unless I have it. I'm using Windows Vista and I do have an hotmail email account. I filled in POP3 on the first part of the server dialogue box and SM(P?)T on the second box. In Control Panel - Mail - Mail Setup - email accounts, I type in the required details to set up an existing mail and it doesn't recognise it when it tries to read the server (red cross instead of tick). I have tried a Yahoo account, Windows Live account and another one, and tried using "unencrypted" and since my knowledge of Vista is fairly basic, I am not sure about doing it manually.

I have just transferred from a Windows XP PC using Outlook Express 6 to Vista PC with Windows Mail. I successfully migrated one email account and it works fine. On a second account I get the windows security box asking for username and password and even when I enter them correctly I get the box again. When I cancel I get the following error message:
Account: 'Estradia general', Server: '127.0.0.1', Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '-ERR unknown user name or bad password', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC91. However the username and password are correct, and the account does send and receive emails OK. The account is located with the same ISP as the fully functioning account. I have checked that all the settings etc for the caccount are correct, and have tried manually inputting them with same effect.
While using XP Outlook Express, I was able to add the account for my online school, Walden University. Everything still worked fine even after I upgraded my computer from XP to Vista. Now the school has changed their email program to be some kind of eCampus. I followed their instructions for adding an account to Outlook Express and was told that they should be the exact same for Vista Windows Mail. However, when I set up the account, before I can send and receive, I get a user verification screen where I have to type in my user name and password. This screen just shows up repeatedly even though I know I am using the right user name and password. I finally hit cancel and receive an error that my email could not complete execution to send and retrieve email messages for that account.
It is set as a POP account. I don't know if there is a problem with Vista compatibility, or a problem since I still have dialup and not highspeed, or if the school is wrong with their instructions for adding an account. I can provide more specific information regarding all the settings if anyone thinks they can help me. I am extremely frustrated with this since I have been able to view my school emails through my personal email account for years. Now I have to login to the school webpage and check my emails via a different link. I know it doesn't sound like that big of a deal, but the convenience factor right now is huge in my little world.
I wanted to either set up my yahoo account or hotmail account to windows mail. I also wanted to know how i can configure it in with my internet explorer so that way when I am trying to email someone it can just automatically pop up!

View 5 Replies View Relatedmy Gmail account has been comprimised yesterday They have changed the secondary email so I cannot just reset the password I have tried to fill out the form to regain control over your account but they declined to give me my account. I have filled it out as best as I can, but I cannot remember the dates that I set up (I have deleted the email that I got when I set up the account). I never use personal information with that email account, and I didn't really mind about it, but I have got accounts registered with other sites (VF, SF, EF etc.) on it. I have changed the emails and passwords on these sites, but I don't know if I have missed any websites. Is there any way that I can contact google (preferably by email) to sort out this?

When I send an email, a copy of the email that I sent is stored in the Sent Items in my local folders and on the Gmail server. Is there a way to prevent my sent emails from being stored on the local folders?
