I recently configured Windows Mail to use Gmail's IMAP feature. I like very much, but I have a question. When I send an email, a copy of the email that I sent is stored in the Sent Items in my local folders and on the Gmail server. Is there a way to prevent my sent emails from being stored on the local folders?
View 9 RepliesI am using Windows Mail with Gmail's IMAP configured. I've configured it in Windows Mail as per the directions in the Gmail web site. Regardless, I get this error message every time I try to check my Gmail:

I've repeatedly checked instructions as given through many sites to make sure all the right ports are typed in for Gmail, all the right boxes checked. I even unchecked the box someone suggested in the Norton security outgoing mail filter, and I still get this message:

works. I have installed clients (Outlook, Outlook Express, many versions) before and they have all worked. I can even read my email from another machine with XP using my wireless network, however, everytime I try to update m IMAP folders in Windows Mail I get this message.

I am having trouble sending my e-mail messages it askes me the name of servers - incoming and outgoing names. (ex. POP or IMAP.......) I am using aol. Does anyone know what the aol incoming and outgoing server names are? I've already tried imap.aol.com for incoming mail and SMTP.aol.com for outgoing and these combinations don't work.

It states as a suggestion that this could be due to lack of memory space however this is a new PC with nothing but office and norton anti-virus installed so this is a doubful reason.

But when I try to export them to Windows Vista Contacts I loose all information. My outlook 2007 is a trial version and will expire next time I turn it on, so I have to get it done today.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI got my new Dell XPS M1530 yesterday which came with Vista and was really excited to use it untill I was forced to switch my mail from Gmail to Yahoo by Vista, indirectly ofcourse.The problem is that 98% of the times when I try to send mails from my Gmail account (I use it from the browser itself and not windows mail), it gives me a #008 error. Vista is also not letting me open a few other webpages that I am able to in XP. Mostly the pages are the secure ones.It came with McAfee, so being a non techie guy I thought that it must be the one to blame so I uninstalled it and installed my loved AVG. But the error persists.The thing to be noted is that I am able to login, receive, read and do everything else with Gmail except sending mails.
The remedies I have tried so far:
1. Use another browser (FF and Chrome)
2. Remove/ deactivate firewalls, email scanners.
3. Use Gmails Secure mode (https://mail.google.com)
4. Putting all security settings in IE7 to "Low" allowing everything.
I apologize for such a long post but this appears to be a common problem with Gmail in Vista or you can say Vista with Gmail and there is no proper solution availabe for it in the net or with the two giants themselves as far as I know.

My Gmail was running fine for a while, but here's the deal: If I have Gmail open in a tab, and it sits idle for awhile, the application appears to freeze. Not only does it freeze (blank screen when I activate the tab), but it "freezes" my whole IE7 (cannot access any other tabs, no tool bar functions, etc.) I have to abort my whole IE7 through task manager. I've started opening Gmail in a separate browser to avoid this, but I still freeze in that browser window and have to abort with Task manager. Anyone else having this problem? It only happens with Gmail, everything else works fine.

how to fill this out? I have a WI-FI connection that is actually my neighbors service (they are friends and gave their approval for us to use it).
