When clicking send/recieve i get the emails downloaded off the BTINTERNET POP3 server but to send them it asks for username and password. I type them in but all it does is repeatedl ask for them again and again. I have changed the outgoing STMP to another value provided but still get the same problem. I have used aapt as my Service Provider for a few months. I was using Outlook to send and receive mails. Everything was working as expected. Then one day outlook stopped sending emails but it could receive emails. I contacted aapt and they told me they didn't support outlook only express and there was nothing they could do. I don't know if there was a windows update that has caused the problem since I have not had problems like this before. A window pops up stating....your server has unexpectedly terminated the connections. Possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or longer periods of inactivity. Error number 0x800CCCoF. My internet provides say there is no problem on their end and that it must be a firewall problem.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI got my new Dell XPS M1530 yesterday which came with Vista and was really excited to use it untill I was forced to switch my mail from Gmail to Yahoo by Vista, indirectly ofcourse.The problem is that 98% of the times when I try to send mails from my Gmail account (I use it from the browser itself and not windows mail), it gives me a #008 error. Vista is also not letting me open a few other webpages that I am able to in XP. Mostly the pages are the secure ones.It came with McAfee, so being a non techie guy I thought that it must be the one to blame so I uninstalled it and installed my loved AVG. But the error persists.The thing to be noted is that I am able to login, receive, read and do everything else with Gmail except sending mails.
The remedies I have tried so far:
1. Use another browser (FF and Chrome)
2. Remove/ deactivate firewalls, email scanners.
3. Use Gmails Secure mode (https://mail.google.com)
4. Putting all security settings in IE7 to "Low" allowing everything.
I apologize for such a long post but this appears to be a common problem with Gmail in Vista or you can say Vista with Gmail and there is no proper solution availabe for it in the net or with the two giants themselves as far as I know.

My Gmail was running fine for a while, but here's the deal: If I have Gmail open in a tab, and it sits idle for awhile, the application appears to freeze. Not only does it freeze (blank screen when I activate the tab), but it "freezes" my whole IE7 (cannot access any other tabs, no tool bar functions, etc.) I have to abort my whole IE7 through task manager. I've started opening Gmail in a separate browser to avoid this, but I still freeze in that browser window and have to abort with Task manager. Anyone else having this problem? It only happens with Gmail, everything else works fine.
