View 8 Replies View RelatedI recently set a password for my user account in Vista Home Premium, which worked fine when I locked the account and unlocked it again to try it out. After restarting, however, it wouldn't accept the password! There's only my account and a disabled guest account, and I use the password for some of my online accounts, so I know I got the password right. I got back into Windows by using the password reset on my USB-stick, but it's weird... and it gets better! Today I locked the account while I was in the library, and when I got back I couldn't log back in! Switching users, however, and then logging in with the locked account worked... so password and user account are fine, it just doesn't always get accepted.
View 7 Replies View Relatedwhen i press send / receive a windows security window opens asking for my user name and password but when i type them in it just clears and asks for user name and password again. I have checked the accounts and user name and password are correct, i have even tried changing the password but to no avail. If i press cancel an error message comes up saying invalid user name or password. I have had no problems with windows mail before on this computer and its nearly 10 months old running vista and norton 360.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to set up Windows Mail and Outlook 2007 to use an email box in a new website. I have two email boxes with different passwords on the same site. The first account in Windows Mail worked... but the second, set up the same way, will not. I get repeated Windows Security dialog boxes with "verify user name and password" until I cancel the dialog which returns the following error:
Account: 'mail.mysite.org (1)', Server: 'mail.mysite.org', Protocol: POP3,
Server Response: '-ERR authorization failed', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No,
Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC92
I'm using Vista 64-bit which has always been exceedingly careful about what programs it will allow to run... but the places to adjust that are obscure. Is the problem in Vista-64 security setting? Turning off the Norton Internet security makes no difference. If I import the one account that works in Windows Mail into Outlook 2007 (and check that all of the settings are correct) it doesn't work in Outlook. The same endless Security dialog occurs.
I can not get windows mail to accept my gmail account. I have set it up many times the exact way I am showed how, but I can not get it to take. I keep getting a message the it can not verify my credentials.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI just got a new laptop with Vista. I can not utilize the "Windows Mail" because it will not let me log on. I did the step by step setting up instructions. Now I get a window for my user ID and Password. I put it in, and it repeadeatly reappears. I am disappointed because one of the things I use a PC for most, is my E-mail. I loved my MSN mail with all the special features I had with it. I can not do ANY of what I did with hotmail. Does anyone know how I can get into windows mail, or how to get my MSN back!?.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI kept getting an error message ("invalid user name or password") everytime I tried to enter in my user name and password to get access to my email with Windows Vista on my new computer. After an exhaustive effort to solve the problem with my ISP and with HP (including deactivating Windows Vista Firewall and shield and uninstalling my spy and virus software and then reinstalling Vista) I contacted Microsoft and paid a well spent $60 and they quickly resolved the problem. Here's what I had to do to make it work.
Open Mail, go to Tools, and then Accounts, click Add and created an E-mail account. (Type "POP3" in the field "My incoming mail server is a server." Under "Incoming mail (POP3):" type: pop.(your service provider), mine is "suddenlink.net" so it reads "pop.suddenlink.net." Under "Outgoing mail (SMTP):" type "smtp." and your service provider, mine is "suddenlink.net" so it reads "smtp.suddenlink.net." Next, and this is where I goofed, under "Incoming Mail Server" it asks for your "E-mail username:". Put your FULL EMAIL ADDRESS not just the name before "@." Mine reads dsjaggers@suddenlink.net. Then enter in your password (that you gave your internet service provider) in the "Password:" field.{And I checked the box "Remember password" so I don't have to do that every time I go to get my email.} Then MAKE SURE to check the box under "Outgoing Mail Server" that says beside it "My server requires authentication.")
I'm using Vista 64 bit and have been using WinMail (Outlook Express replacement) since I upgraded. Now, all of the sudden I'm getting the logon dialog popping up anytime I try to access my mail. Even though I did not set it up to require a logon and password when I set it up, I tried every ID and Password I've ever used and I keep getting the error msg I'm inputting the wrong ID and./or Password in.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have Vista Home Premium on an Acer Laptop and all was fine until I decided to change my user password. I had or have (who knows now at this stage) an Administrator,User and HDD password installed on my machine. I went into my setup and changed my user password from set to clear but left my other passwords at set. when I exited and saved changes and rebooted I could not get back in with any and all passwords. To make things worse I cannot boot from cd either. It goes to press <F2> go to setup , Enter Current Password: ? then Invalad password I have tried the F10, F12, Del, F5, F8 keys and nothing seems to get past that login screen. Does anyone have any inexpensive suggestions on how I can get into this computer, or how I can get to a command prompt. Can I un-solder the internal Battery and then re attach it.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI just tried to open my Window Mail and got a message window that said: Windows Security: Please verify that both the user name and password are correct for your mail server. It then wants you to type your username and password into two blocks. It then has a check block that says "Remember My Credentials". Then OK or Cancel. This is the first time I have seen this when I open Windows Mail. Is this something new or is this some kind of virus/malware?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI've got a problem whereby when I try to access mail using Windows Mail, the programme pops up a window (entitled Windows Security) which asks for my user name and password... but it doesn't accept these when I enter them. Windows Mail had been working OK up until this started to happen yesterday. I have tried clicking tools, then accounts then properties and then re-entering the correct password and user name (ie the password and user name that I use to access the Internet... which, incidentally, still works OK for
Internet access)... but it still doesn't accept them. Everytime I try to send or receive email and enter the password and user name in the Windows Security window ... the window appears again and asks for them again.
I have been using Windows Mail for about 1 week. Today when I tried to get my mail I was asked for USERNAME and PASSWORD. When I set up Windows Mail i was never asked to establish Username or Password. Now I can't get my mail.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI just set up Windows Mail for my wife to use on our new computer. I need the email to be pretty secure. This wont work because she has confidential client info on here.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI use Windows Mail and have had no trouble until now. When I try to access my email, a window appears asking for my username and password. What is going on and how can I resolve this issue?
View 9 Replies View RelatedWindows Mail has suddenly started asking me for a user name and password to deliver messages from Outbox. It has never done this before in the previous 9 months. Checked the settings in Tools / Accounts / Server Tab. Entered the user name / password as per the Server Tab but the box keeps on appeating again and I can't send email out using Windows mail. I can receive emails.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a general problem with Windows Vista , the following being an example I would like to solve. When opening Windows Mail, or when I try to send mail, Windows Security has asked me for no apparent reason to ?Please verify that both the username and password are correct for your mail server.? I gave it the information hit OK and the original request reappeared and kept reappearing even though I tried every combination of both I could remember with Caps Lock disabled. Either I have a fault or, in my senility, I have forgotten either or both. Either way Windows Mail does not offer me a solution. This is a serious problem as, although I can receive mail, I cannot send.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI tried to respond to an extremely old thread, and couldn't because of that. So I am reposting here as others may have the same concern.dannygallo;756753 Wrote: I agree with Danny. One shouldn't have to create a separate user account for Windows just to keep prying eyes from checking out email. That would be analogous to giving each person who lives in the same household a separate room with a lock and key with his/her own phone in it. It's generally accepted courtesy not to eavesdrop on others' conversations.
However, when spouses wish to share their user account and profile, but simply wish to keep their email exchanges a bit more confidential (yes, even from each other), this is no longer possible. It seems very unloving to mandate that two people in a relationship must completely isolate their home computer work spaces with usernames and private passwords, simply because they want to keep their email a bit private. So once again, I agree with Danny. Microsoft has a longstanding history of adding useless bells and whistles to programs, so I commend them for making Windows Mail more simple to use, but in this case, it would have been wonderful had they given the user an option to password protect program usage and entry WITHIN the same user profile
is it possible to save Windows Mail with a password? So that nobody can open WinMail without my password. How does it work?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have created a task to start my Folding@Home client when the computer starts (the SMP client won't run as a service yet). The FAH client needs to run as admin, so I checked the "Run with highest privileges" box, enabled the option to run whether user is logged in or not and entered my user and password when prompted. If I run the task manually it starts and runs correctly.
When the computer is restarted, the client does not start and an error message is waiting in Task Scheduler as follows:Event ID: 101 OP Code: 6619136 Error Value: 2147943726When initially setting this up, I remember the error message saying something about a bad username/password. That isn't in the Task Scheduler history though. If I open the task and simply resave it (changing nothing, but entering username/password again), the task will start manually. This is so close, but very frustrating that such a simple task won't quite work.
I have a few computers in my home network (all Ethernet, not wireless). I can't log onto my wife's Vista Home Premium (named tonis-acer) from my Vista Home Premium (PaulsAcerLaptop), another Home Premium laptop, my Windows 7 beta laptop, or an XP Pro laptop.
I login in as:
User name: Toni
password: abc1234 (not really)
response:
User name: PaulsAcerLaptop oni
password: unchanged
small window: "Logon unsuccessful", etc.
