Logon Dialog Requesting User Name And Password Keeps Me From Accessing My Mail.

Feb 20, 2010

I'm using Vista 64 bit and have been using WinMail (Outlook Express replacement) since I upgraded. Now, all of the sudden I'm getting the logon dialog popping up anytime I try to access my mail. Even though I did not set it up to require a logon and password when I set it up, I tried every ID and Password I've ever used and I keep getting the error msg I'm inputting the wrong ID and./or Password in.

My wife has done something to the windows mail and every time I try to get my new e-mails a box appears asking for my user name and password. I've tried using the check box to remember my details but this doesn't help as the next time I try to download messages the box appears again. How to get rid of this security box?

Windows Mail Login: Asking Logon Name And Password?

Feb 17, 2009

I have never had to use a password to get or send messages. Today I logged on after not being on for a week and now windows security is asking for a logon name and password. What the heck happened? I have been slowly downloading the updates and yes I am behind in downloading them. I am on dialup so it takes a while to download them. Is this some type of new security? I don't want to lose the emails I have by setting up a new account.

following on from the bug i had (ive pasted the details below again) Ive scanned the drive with the maxtor/seagate tools and no problems. It seems to be something to do with the harddrive as if is start a checkdisk it almost instantly causes problems, you can move the mouse but nothign responds. If you try and go into ctrl-alt-delete you get a message saying a 'logon process has failed to create the security options dialog'. It seemed to start when i put an old harddrive onto the system to copy data across, until this point everything was fine.

MSN Mail : User ID And Password Repeadeatly Reappears

May 2, 2009

I just got a new laptop with Vista. I can not utilize the "Windows Mail" because it will not let me log on. I did the step by step setting up instructions. Now I get a window for my user ID and Password. I put it in, and it repeadeatly reappears. I am disappointed because one of the things I use a PC for most, is my E-mail. I loved my MSN mail with all the special features I had with it. I can not do ANY of what I did with hotmail. Does anyone know how I can get into windows mail, or how to get my MSN back!?.

Window Mail Invalid User Name Password

Apr 7, 2008

I kept getting an error message ("invalid user name or password") everytime I tried to enter in my user name and password to get access to my email with Windows Vista on my new computer. After an exhaustive effort to solve the problem with my ISP and with HP (including deactivating Windows Vista Firewall and shield and uninstalling my spy and virus software and then reinstalling Vista) I contacted Microsoft and paid a well spent $60 and they quickly resolved the problem. Here's what I had to do to make it work.

Open Mail, go to Tools, and then Accounts, click Add and created an E-mail account. (Type "POP3" in the field "My incoming mail server is a server." Under "Incoming mail (POP3):" type: pop.(your service provider), mine is "suddenlink.net" so it reads "pop.suddenlink.net." Under "Outgoing mail (SMTP):" type "smtp." and your service provider, mine is "suddenlink.net" so it reads "smtp.suddenlink.net." Next, and this is where I goofed, under "Incoming Mail Server" it asks for your "E-mail username:". Put your FULL EMAIL ADDRESS not just the name before "@." Mine reads dsjaggers@suddenlink.net. Then enter in your password (that you gave your internet service provider) in the "Password:" field.{And I checked the box "Remember password" so I don't have to do that every time I go to get my email.} Then MAKE SURE to check the box under "Outgoing Mail Server" that says beside it "My server requires authentication.")

User Accounts: Accessing Printer Share Fails

Jun 5, 2008

I have a Windows Vista SP1 system trying to access a printer share on a XP Pro SP3 system. The admin accounts on Vista are able to get to the printer share with no problems. However, the User accounts are having problems with accessing the printer share. I had read an article on using a local port for accessing the share instead of using network share printer access. When the User accounts try to print, a print error is displayed on the job list and the print does not occur. I have opened up the printer share on the XP box to include everyone and guests to have full access and I still have the problem. Is it a problem with XP or Vista?

Invalid Password: Setup And Changed User Password From Set To Clear But Left Other Passwords At Set

Oct 31, 2009

I have Vista Home Premium on an Acer Laptop and all was fine until I decided to change my user password. I had or have (who knows now at this stage) an Administrator,User and HDD password installed on my machine. I went into my setup and changed my user password from set to clear but left my other passwords at set. when I exited and saved changes and rebooted I could not get back in with any and all passwords. To make things worse I cannot boot from cd either. It goes to press <F2> go to setup , Enter Current Password: ? then Invalad password I have tried the F10, F12, Del, F5, F8 keys and nothing seems to get past that login screen. Does anyone have any inexpensive suggestions on how I can get into this computer, or how I can get to a command prompt. Can I un-solder the internal Battery and then re attach it.

Lost Password To Logon

Mar 23, 2008

My sister-in-law who lives in Australia finally decided to use a PC to keep in touch over the internet. She bought a Laptop using Vista and set it up with one user account around 2 months ago. She is not computer literate and barely knows how to switch it on. It has taken her up till now to switch it on for the second time as she just got broadband installed at her home. The problem we now have is that she has forgotten the password she created and cannot logon to the system. I am not familiar with Windows Vista and was unable to advise her how to logon using the default Administrator account. It seems Vista is much different from XP in this respect. Can anyone advise me if I can access the default admin account on the logon screen or if there is another way to reset the password without talking her through a system restore. She didn't create password reset disks.

Windows Logon:do Not Accept The Password

Mar 29, 2008

I recently set a password for my user account in Vista Home Premium, which worked fine when I locked the account and unlocked it again to try it out. After restarting, however, it wouldn't accept the password! There's only my account and a disabled guest account, and I use the password for some of my online accounts, so I know I got the password right. I got back into Windows by using the password reset on my USB-stick, but it's weird... and it gets better! Today I locked the account while I was in the library, and when I got back I couldn't log back in! Switching users, however, and then logging in with the locked account worked... so password and user account are fine, it just doesn't always get accepted.

How Change The User Logon?

Mar 23, 2008

Just starting to look at Vista, but one thing that I haven't figured out is how to change the login. In XP Pro, if you went to user accts in control panel, you could choose to change the way users log on and log off, that way it didn't come up with the list of users on the machine, but worked like a domain login where you had to input your username and password.

I can't figure out how to change this on a stand alone Vista machine. I don't want the list of users, I just want to hit ctrl-alt-del and get a sign on screen where I input the username and password. Is this possible, and how/where do I make this change? Again, it is Vista Ultimate.

User Account Can't Logon

I've created a new user account but can't log into it - I always get the message "The User Profile Service failed the logon. User Profile cannot be loaded". I can log into all other user accounts. I am wondering if this has anything to do with the fact that I removed a user and then deleted the users's folder and all the files in that folder including NTUSER.dat file. Is there something I need to do to be able to log into the new user account(s)?

Windows Mail And Outlook 2007 :endless "verify User Name And Password"

Oct 16, 2009

I'm trying to set up Windows Mail and Outlook 2007 to use an email box in a new website. I have two email boxes with different passwords on the same site. The first account in Windows Mail worked... but the second, set up the same way, will not. I get repeated Windows Security dialog boxes with "verify user name and password" until I cancel the dialog which returns the following error:

Account: 'mail.mysite.org (1)', Server: 'mail.mysite.org', Protocol: POP3,
Server Response: '-ERR authorization failed', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No,
Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC92

I'm using Vista 64-bit which has always been exceedingly careful about what programs it will allow to run... but the places to adjust that are obscure. Is the problem in Vista-64 security setting? Turning off the Norton Internet security makes no difference. If I import the one account that works in Windows Mail into Outlook 2007 (and check that all of the settings are correct) it doesn't work in Outlook. The same endless Security dialog occurs.

User Profile Service Failed The Logon

Jan 5, 2010

I have had a Lenovo 3000 n100 laptop with what I think is Windows Vista Home Premium 32bit (does that sound right?) for a few years. Within the first year I had it my hard drive crashed, I managed to save it but I lost all my files. Today I tried to log onto my administrator account for the first time in a few weeks and I recieved the error "User Profile Service Failed the Logon". I searched for a solution and this is what I found..

Quote: 1. I closed down.

2. Turned computer on and immediately pressed F8 repeatedly until I got "Advanced Boot Options".

3. used the down arrow to select "Safe Mode" and pressed enter.

4. computer then opened eventually in the funny look of safe mode, with

a "Help" window.

5. In the help window there is an underlined "What is System Restore?" Clicking on that gave me the answer and "Click to open System Restore"

6. I clicked on that and a new window came up recommending restoring to a previous state before windows update which I had done before the fault occurred.............

I cannot get into the account, even after logging in as Administrator and resetting the password for the account. Anyone know what has happened and how to fix it? User Profile Service Failed Logon

Jun 25, 2008

I'm still with WinXP, but been to help friend with adding extra RAM to his Vista Basic 512mb Ram. I took out the 512 mb and replaced it with 2 x 1gb RAM bought from Crucial UK for his PC. There has only ever been 1 account, and at bootup the password for this account was asked for. We entered the KNOWN password (it's never been changed from new, approx 11 months) and we got ;- "User profile service failed the logon, user profile cannot be loaded", which slowed us down a bit :-) We took an option to "reset password - put disc in drive with password on" (or something similar), but he has never created such a disc. To repeat - the password entered 'was' correct.......

User Profile Was Not Loaded Correctly, Service Failed The Logon

Sep 13, 2009

Ive been having endless problems with my vista. Firstly, I had the error message "Your user profile was not loaded correctly! You have been logged on with a temporary profile." for a good month or so, I was in the middle of exams and didn't want to risk trying to fix it myself, I was advised the best option would be just to reinstall vista, but I wasn't sure the best way to go about that either. Now on my laptops first birthday, I stopped getting this error message, and started enjoying usual computing again, until I started getting this message instead.

"The User Profile Service failed the logon. User profile cannot be loaded."

If I complete a system restore a few times I can access my account again, but after a day or so I start getting the error message again. All my old files (from before the error messages started appearing) are under my old user folder which I can access in users. I renamed it at some point during the time of the first error message. I thought that because of this I could delete my main account, and make my secondary account an administrator instead. (not sure if thats the right way to go about things, as the first option the thread for this error provided was not working) and now I cannot access my control panel, or windows updates, to tamper with user accounts.
