I remember the solution involved creating an admin account to change a setting. I don't remember what I changed either. So that account sits there, unused, and I've decided to remove it. The problem is that I don't know how. In account management, for that account, there is no "delete the account" or "change account type" options. Does anyone know why this is?
View 2 RepliesI use a admin account on my computer but when I added standard user account it will not open some web pages for example when I go to my yahoo mail it will show the email but when I click on it, it will not show any text, but when I use the administrator account the web page works fine, I can see and read all emails. Another example is when I go to ask.com and search under the standard user it comes up as a blank page but will show search results under the administrator account. I have windows vista home and 7.0 explorer.

For some reason when i go to switch user or log of I only have the option to log on as a regular user without admin rights. its says AMD below the picture... Now if i go into the user account settings i see my created admin account but i can not make any changes since I have no admin rights on the account i am logged in with. When I try to switch users I cant because only the account with no rights appears.
I tried to boot in save mode to see if the admin account is hidden...it is not but it says ASP.NET with the name of the admin account ( no idea if that means any thing) When I try to unhide a account if gives me error messages. So I have an admin account but it is not visible when trying to log in..in order for me to install programs or allow downloads in need to be the admin.
Upon restarting after attempting to change my SID [I KNOW. STUPID MOVE ON MY PART], I cannot access my old (Admin) account on my PC. Is there ANY way to recover from this? I mean there has to be some kind of solution to getting the account back considering my hard drive is still filled with all of the data stored on the user account & I can still see the folder on my guest account, just can't access it.

View 5 Replies View RelatedWhen I initially installed Vista Premium the computer would boot directly into the Administator account. I then set up 2 accounts beside the admin and Vista boots directly into the Admin Desktop. I disabled the Admin account after establishing my other accounts with administrator rights. I know get a message saying that my password is incorrect and then after acknowledging it I go to the Account selection screen.
I would like to have the account screen come up after enabling the admin account vice having the OS boot up and drop me directly into the Admin account.
i was makin a standard account for a friend cuz she was stayin here for a few days so if she wanted some privacy for wha she did or where she went but i just deleted and turned on the guest account but yesterday i realized that my account was turned into a standard account now so i can't turn it back and its ask or a admin password but doesn't give me ne where to enter it. ofcourse that wouldn't matter cuz i don't have an admin password.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have two reg user accounts and i changed one to an administrator account that I didn't want to use regularly, but when I try to do certain things it ask for a password, but when I put my password in it says "wrong password' or something like that. I know that is the right password; so I try in safe mode it say "The user has not been granted the requested login type at this computer. Also the account that I created will not show up when I restart my computer, so I can't login using that account.

How can I fix this? I've tried changing resolution while i'm on the account but that's only temporary, when i restart the computer it's the same thing over again and all of my drivers are updated and i cant roll back any of them either.

View 4 Replies View RelatedWe bought a new laptop yesterday. Until now we both had our own. So we both have our own stuff we want to move there. We set up two accounts, both with admistrator permissions. But we would like those accounts to not "work" together. Like for example, we don't want our pictures, music etc to be seen from the other ones account. But now it does. We both want to put them to the D drive and only see our own stuff. Because it gets really confusing with the amount of stuff we have. So when I go somewhere, I only want to see the things I have put there, not his things. How do we do this? Also I noticed that if he or I remove something from the desktop, it goes away from the other account as well. That is really not something I want. I want the accounts to sort of work like two different computers.

I have no idea what the password for this account is and leaving it blank doesn't work. I have a standard login now that won't allow me to create a new account of any sort nor can I make changes to my standard user account without permission from the ASP.NET Machine Account.

I will give him the admin password, but he'll be instructed to use the normal account except when he installs stuff. View 7 Replies View RelatedI had been using the true admin account to do my everyday work (now i know i shouldn't have) also had my old admin account (both password protected) and lastnight i decided to change my SID using the NewSid program just for kicks and giggles.. the first time around it just sat there for a couple hours not managing anything but to open a new account.. the ASP.net machine account... since i had no idea what it was or what it did i chose to delete it (again, now i know i shouldn't have).. then i tried the NewSid again, only this time it worked.. it did what it was supposed to change registries and hives, and rebooted the system.. only to find out I only had my guest account, my admin and regular account were not showing up at all just the guest one is showing up yet my hard drive is still intact, and I can still see my admin and regular account folders.. just cant access them..
View 7 Replies View RelatedI got my laptop from my school, and it's Windows Vista Business. After 4 months using my laptop and using internet explorer, IE started to mess up! Everytime i opened my homepage: Google, it will redirect to a dating site. And every sort of pop ups appeared... the pop up blocker were turned on, homepage was set to google.co.uk, security setting was at the highest, blocked all cookies, and all sort of things i did. Also, it makes my startup , and performance become 6X time slower than usual. After doing some searching on google, i found this tutorial site, there's a tutorial that exactly i have, it says that my User Account/profile is infected or something, it says to delete the account that's infected. I backed up all my files, and created a new admin account, and deleted that "infected" account.
It really worked, IE was fine, performance and such. But that was just temporarily, after 2 days, All the pop ups and stuff come back. So, i deleted the admin account i'am using, BUT I FORGOT TO MAKE ANOTHER ADMIN ACCOUNT!! And i'am still using a guest account. I can't install, create a user account, use windows update, and all the admin Privileges. There is one Administrator account, but i don't know the password. Oh the laptops is Toshiba, and i think the admin account is created by toshiba. Is there another way of retrieving, or whatever method to be an admin for my laptop again WITHOUT reinstalling my Windows Vista.
I have two user accounts on Vista Home Pro. One is a standard, limited user account (password protected) and the other is my admin account (obviously with admin privileges and password protected).
I am not sure when this started happening but I am unable to launch control panel under my admin account. I get a pop-up of "Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. I can only get to CP from my limited account. Then I am prompted to enter the Admin account's password. At times even trying this fails with the same error the first time I try to launch CP. Usually the second or third time I launch CP it will actually launch.
In Vista Home Premium, I want to disable User Account Control just for the admininstrator profile. I want User Account Control to remain enabled for all other user profiles. How can I do this? I have tried several methods that Google found, but always when I disable UAC for admininstrator, it is then disabled for other users. How can I disable it just for the admininstrator?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI installed Vista Ultimate about 8 months ago. This was an upgrade from XP. I just now have had the need to do an uninstall. I went to my Admin User account (although my normal user account has Admin privileges) and when I go to Add/Remove programs, there are no command lines for Uninstall/Remove/Repair programs.
I verified that my normal user account had Admin privileges. Logged into it and it does not have the capability to do any of the above. I even added a new user with Admin privileges, no success. I then re-installed Vista Ultimate as an "upgrade" again, still the same problem. All my user accounts have full security access, so I know that's not it. I've read through the threads and although there are similar admin issues, I haven't seen this specific one. I have tried a couple of the suggestions for other Admin problems to no avail.

When I switch to this account, the desktop comes up with a bunch of misc blanked-out icons which it will not allow me to delete.
