Mal-ware Scans With Ad-aware Don't Mentionn Verizon.exe
Mar 11, 2009
I'm getting a pop-up during some (but not all) boot ups in the morning. It gives me the option of allowing it or cancelling it - cancelling means I don't know what the program is and don't want it to load. What the heck is going on? Is this mal-ware? Is it already on my computer? My mal-ware scans with Ad-Aware don't mention it. Nor do scans by Windows Defender. But it's spooky....
So the story is, I have loads of ad-ware and viruses and its starting to p*** me off. I have been using SpyBot Search& Destroy, but now for some reason it won't open anymore, neither will Norton AntiVirus. I have tried the Kaspersky online scanner but that didn't seem to work either. Can somebody recommend me a program to use that will work?
I have a problem with my computer, and it won't let me run Ad-Aware. I already ran the system check to see it isn't a hardware problem. I have deleted all temp files, ran virus scans, etc., but the problem hasn't gone away. What's happening is that the computer is slowing down. If I click from one screen to another, some of its graphics will remain for a couple seconds (these seemed like indications to me of a bad processor, but apparently that's not the case.)
I know when I don't run Ad-Aware to remove multiple spyware software for a while, my computer slows down. But everytime I run Ad-Aware, it gets stuck (and not always on the same file.) I have already tried reinstalling Ad-Aware, but the problem remains.
I had been getting a variety of different newsgroups via news.verizon.net for years. Recently on about 5/11/08, I suddenly could not connect to this source any more. In the meantime, various newsgroups from msnews.microsoft.com continued to work as always. I have been in chat sessions more than three times with Verizon on this matter and each time, all my settings seem to be fine and they cannot solve the problem. I have noted if I try to bring any other new newsgroup, they all fail in the process of trying to bring in their list of groups.
The error message is the same as when I try to connect to news.verizon.net. I have attached a file showing the error message. lastly, I don;t believe it is the particular computer, a Vista Home HP Laptop that I am using as other machines on my wired network no longer can connect to the Verizon newsgroups. It is not my router as I directly connected one machine to the DSL modem and it still could not connect.
I have a new VISTA ULTIMATE installation, with very little on it as yet. I am the single user 'GECKO'. I have installed the software for my HP AIO, and it wants to store its scanned images in c:documents and settings under GECKO, which is okay. I believe the images actually are in folder c:documents and settingsGECKOMy Scans. However, I can't get a look at them in Windows Explorer because I get an error when I click on c:documents and settings 'not accessible - Access is denied. Since I am the only user, and the security properties all seem to allow me free access to that folder, why is this happening? And, more important - how can I fix things?
I have verizon 1 main account and 2 sub accounts. I was able to set the 2 sub accounts up with no problem but the main one for the life of me I can't figure out how to get it set up. It keeps giving me a port 110 error which I am understanding is a known issue. Has anyone else been able to get it fixed or know where I can look to fix it. I really need this set up and its driving me crazy.
I have Avast Home Edition on my Vista laptop. I ran a scan yesterday but this morning the Defender bottom righthand icon had an exclamation mark in it and I'd thought, from using 3 other AV programs before, that Defender doesn't nag if you have other software doing scans? Or do I need to set it to do nothing?
Also, when I run the Avast scan, it says in its display (above Type of Current Scan etc) Scan Archive Files: disabled - should it be like that? What does that mean, and if I need to change it, how do I, as I couldn't find anything in the settings. I'm assuming there's no connection between my two questions.
I have had my computer for over a year now and still can not fig. how to get windows mail to work. I have verizon dsl. I don't know what to put where. computer dumb I guess. I can not send or recieve any mail from verizon.
new pc with windows mail and cannot set up. receive this error message. The host 'outgoing verizon.net' could not be found. Please verify that you have entered the server name correctly. Subject 'test', Account: 'incoming verizon.net', Server: 'outgoing verizon.net', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 11001, Error Number: 0x800CCC0D.
I use Verizon Wireless Vzaccess (wireless card) as my internet provider. I have my Windows Mail set up, however, everytime I try to use it, it automatically disconnects me from the internet. I have not problems using my Windows Mail with other internet providers.
I am using this program to clean up my registry and it seems to work fine except the errors keep coming back. I can do a scan, clean up all the errors and then shut down and start up and I have a new 20 registry error list and most or all of the errors relate to "bad path for the value" and its windows files that seem to be at fault. I don't understand why Microsoft operating system would create registry errors on a startup, before anything has been installed etc. is RegistryBooster misleading me or what. I am running win7 but it did the same thing on vista home premium so I think the question is valid for this group.
i am having really slow boot ups lately on my laptop. i have done things such as virus scans, defrag hhd, scan regestry with REGESTRY BOOSTER 2009, defrag regestry. i also have no start up programs in my strat up folder. Problem is that i could start from dead start to a fully loaded desktop in 98 secs....now it takes 124 secs to do the same thing. where it takes the longest is at the boot screen i just watch it load then the windows logo comes up and it smooth sailing from there. i would say it takes about 8-12 secs after the windows logo to get to desktop.
