Oct 15, 2009when i turn on my computer, an error message comes saying "Windows failed to load because a file is missing or corrupt File: Netio.sys Status: 0xc0000221" This started when i was clearing my computer of useless programs, and after i deleted Realtime player or Quicktime player, (can't remember which) an error message jumped from the taskbar saying something about Network device driver. After that every time i start the computer, the "Windows failed to load" message pops up. The first half a year, it was solved by pressing enter, to "Choose an operating system to start: Windows Vista" and then to "Windows error recovery (start windows normally, safe mode etc)" and back to "Windows failed to start", repeating it 3-20 times. Then i had a familiar "Unexpected shutdown" during a game, and now, the "Enter spamming technique" doesn't work anymore. All i can access at the moment is Windows memory diagnostic tool, and Bios setup utility. Is there any way to fix this through the setup utility or some other manner?

The problem happens with several applications, mostly with word 2007. every log says the fault is ntdll.dll
The file is present in C:windowssystem32
Any effort to change the fila with a new one tells me I have no rights (with both local admin account and enterprise domain admin account).
Trying to register ntdll.dll results with error message that dll or ocx file is missing or corrupt.
sfc /scannow in cmd gives no files with errors.
Update Stopped Saying That There Was A Corrupt File On It
May 6, 2009I'm running Vista on a Sony Vaio purchased new in 9/08. I have never had any problems until this morning. My husband used my pc this morning to go to Tax Brain, and on his log on there was a Adobe Update ready to download. When I went to log him off, I decided to download the update; then the update stopped saying that there was a corrupt file on it. So I logged off his side and signed into mine (btw, he has NO adminitrative rights), I then tried to open my Windows Live Mail...it then prompted me for a password, which it NEVER does because it's already saved. Then another alert came up that a file in live mail was corrupt; I freaked out and tried to access Norton (which is up to date) and it wouldn't let me. Next thing I know a blue screen comes up and says that windows is to be shut down to prevent damage; it suggested I restart the computer and try to open in safe mode and determine what files may be at fault. {Incidentally, yesterday Norton detected "Backdoor.Trojan" or something of that nature; I looked up the detail report and it said that it was blocked and fully removed from my system, and I was ablel to use the pc until 9pm with no problem - after booting up this morning is when the trouble began.} Ok, so I tried rebooting in each and every mode available on that inital error screen. The rebooting goes down all the drivers until it gets to crcdisk.sys...then it quits and gives me that damn blue screen again that advises me to try rebooting in safe mode. I cannot reboot at all.
Now, I have downloaded an iso file of Vista recovery to my thumb drive using the tutorial on this site; and I have plugged it into the pc upon startup...with same result as before. Nothing. I am not able to burn a DVD because the old laptop I'm on right now only has a CD-R and a DVD-Rom. I don't have any blank CD's here and my husband is at work; we're pressed for cash also...so I'm pretty screwed all the way around. To make matters worse, I have an assignment and my finals (I'm finishing school at 31) due today, tomorrow and this weekend. I don't have a vista recovery cd, none was provided when i bought my pc. And now i have absolutely no idea what to do.

Mar 10, 2008when I try and log into my laptop, at the first screen where you see your user name and then you are asked to type your password, I type my password and get the following message: The file or directoryWindowsAppPatch is corrupt and unreadable. Please run the Chkdsk utility.
From looking at other threads they say go into the start menu etc... however I cant even get that far. The message for me appears at the initial startup screen when I select my user name and where i type in my password. I dont have a disc for Vista so i can't reinstall it.

Both systems have been used for a Word document I've been working on.This Word document has a contents table and one other freestanding table. One of them has become corrupt -- I do not know which one. I see a discussion string about this, but the solution proposed there does not work for me. When I open the document, I get the error message about the corrupt file, but the cursor doesn't work, page down doesn't work, the down arrow doesn't work, the links above doesn't work. The moment I click on the document to get a cursor, Word no longer responds (I get the not responding message up top), and then it just sits there. If I click again anywhere, the document goes gray, and all I can do is close it.

Sep 22, 2009I have a problem with my computer, and it won't let me run Ad-Aware. I already ran the system check to see it isn't a hardware problem. I have deleted all temp files, ran virus scans, etc., but the problem hasn't gone away. What's happening is that the computer is slowing down. If I click from one screen to another, some of its graphics will remain for a couple seconds (these seemed like indications to me of a bad processor, but apparently that's not the case.)
I know when I don't run Ad-Aware to remove multiple spyware software for a while, my computer slows down. But everytime I run Ad-Aware, it gets stuck (and not always on the same file.) I have already tried reinstalling Ad-Aware, but the problem remains.

It gives me the option of allowing it or cancelling it - cancelling means I don't know what the program is and don't want it to load. What the heck is going on? Is this mal-ware? Is it already on my computer? My mal-ware scans with Ad-Aware don't mention it. Nor do scans by Windows Defender. But it's spooky....

I have tried upating drivers and that did not work, i think i see my problem: I have attached a capture of my sound screen from the control panel. Mar 29, 2009I turn on my computer and it tells me that my c drive is corrupt and to run chkdsk.
I go into command prompt (right clicking on it to run it as an admin) and run the command sfc /scannow.
It says that it's starting the system scan and that it will take some time, but as it's getting it's "Verification" it stops at 9 percent complete and says that "Windows Resource Protection could not perform the requested operation."
I've also tried going in through computer>right click>properties>tools>error-checking>check now and then clicking both check-boxes >start>schedule disk check and then I've tried restarting, but nothing happened.

Sep 30, 2008I have a problem with my PC with windows updates. When I turn the computer on in the morning it starts installing new updates. this takes about 35 minutes on stage 1 of 3 then it shuts down. When it restarts again I get a tech guys message to say "Your computer was unable to start. Running start-up repair"
At the end of this when I look at the diagnosis it says:
Boot critical file C:
toskrnl.exe is corrupt
Repair Action: File repair
Result! failed error code OxA
Time taken = 4462ms
Repair action: System restore
Result: Completed successfully
Error code = OXO.
This is now happening every time I restart my computer and it takes about an hour. Windows then starts OK until the next time
Do I need to reinstall windows Vista Home Premium??? It was already installed on the PC when I bought it and they did not give me a CD.
Tcpip.sys Is Corrupt

Inserted my DVD and attempted a "repair", it failed on TCPIP.sys and said there it was not able to complete the repair.

Sep 22, 2008I've been having some trouble with my installation of Vista today. It had been running without a hitch for nearly a year. I think the problem started since Windows was taking a long time to shut down, I assumed (wrongly perhaps) that it had frozen, and so I forced it to shutdown by holding the power button for 5 seconds. Another possible cause could be I plugged in a USB joystick (driver conflict?).
When I started my PC back up I noticed things seemed to be running very slowly at times, as if the system was having trouble accessing some files. I scheduled a Disk Check and restarted. It found and fixed some errors, brought me into my desktop, and then a pop up kept appearing in the bottom right tool bar saying '*.exe could not be accessed' and something about a folder named '$Secure'. My browser bookmarks wouldn't load, for example. I restarted again and this time during startup the green loading bar would run its course, and then a black screen and a cursor appeared, rather than the Vista logon screen. I booted off my Vista DVD and ran Startup Repair. It found and fixed some errors but I still have the black screen problem. I also ran another Disk Check, as well as some HDD diagnostic software - it said everything was fine. When I try running Startup Repair again, it tells me it doesn't see any errors and to remove any recently added hardware (I have). I'm stuck at this point. I would like to repair (upgrade) my installation of Vista, but I need to be able to get into a working install in the first place to do that.
User Folder Corrupt
Apr 21, 2009I recently partitioned my 500 GB hard disk on my Vista computer into multiple drives in order to keep data files and picture files separate. In doing that I succeeded in
screwing up the folder line-up in my user folder. In spite of many tries I haven't been able to "unscrew" it. There are two main problems:
1. There are now two folders called Pictures (E referring to ther new partition
Both of these folders contain the same subfolders and files. No matter what I try, I cannot delete one of these listings.
2. There is an additional folder called Pictures.
However this folder contains all the music folders and files. When I try to rename this folder to Music, I get the error message:"This action can't be completed because the
folder is open in another program", even though no other programs are running.
Can't Replace Corrupt Autochk.exe
Oct 8, 2009My Vista Premium will not run autochk.exe. I ran sfc/ scannow and the cbs log file found autochk.exe corrupt. I tried to copy autochk.exe from another Vista PC to the c:windowssystem 32 folder and it will not let me. I'm running as administrator and click continue when user account control pops up, but it won't copy.

Mar 23, 2008Something has been bothering me a lot in Vista 64 Ultimate SP1. Every now and then, when Windows starts, it says my disk structure is corrupt and I should run chkdsk in order to fix it. When I try to run CHKDSK under Vista, I get a "insufficient disk space to fix master table (MFT)", and CHKDSK aborts. I can't create folders, files, Windows Update fails ...
The good thing is a have a dual boot system and when I choose XP, Windows XP detects that the Vista partition needs chkdsk and this time, chkdsk runs completely and fixes the Vista partition. So I can restart the computer, choose Vista partition again and this time everything will work fine.
Problem is, this is happening too often. Like every day. And it is such a hassle to start Vista, get the error message, restart, choose XP, fix Vista, restart, choose Vista and then have everything normal. Any of you guys have an idea on WHY my disk structure is getting corrupt all the time? My Vista installation is very recent, and I did a full format in the partition before installing it.
Winload.exe Missing Or Corrupt?
Dec 31, 2009LOng story short, I had to restore last night due to what seemed like a video driver problem. I restored, back a couple weeks and it fixed my video issue. It then did the automatic windows updates, including SP1, which I thought was odd, but I went with it. After the download & update the system rebooted...and then it all went downhill. I actually got another error message which I can't recall at the moment, but it was a black screen not a blue.... I then broke out my original windows recovery discs, rebooted and it went directly to the recovery options and screens as I was expecting. The first disc ran fine, backing up files, blah blah.....it said to reboot...and then THIS stuff started.......
