I use Verizon Wireless Vzaccess (wireless card) as my internet provider. I have my Windows Mail set up, however, everytime I try to use it, it automatically disconnects me from the internet. I have not problems using my Windows Mail with other internet providers.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI had been getting a variety of different newsgroups via news.verizon.net for years. Recently on about 5/11/08, I suddenly could not connect to this source any more. In the meantime, various newsgroups from msnews.microsoft.com continued to work as always. I have been in chat sessions more than three times with Verizon on this matter and each time, all my settings seem to be fine and they cannot solve the problem. I have noted if I try to bring any other new newsgroup, they all fail in the process of trying to bring in their list of groups.
The error message is the same as when I try to connect to news.verizon.net. I have attached a file showing the error message. lastly, I don;t believe it is the particular computer, a Vista Home HP Laptop that I am using as other machines on my wired network no longer can connect to the Verizon newsgroups. It is not my router as I directly connected one machine to the DSL modem and it still could not connect.
I have verizon 1 main account and 2 sub accounts. I was able to set the 2 sub accounts up with no problem but the main one for the life of me I can't figure out how to get it set up. It keeps giving me a port 110 error which I am understanding is a known issue. Has anyone else been able to get it fixed or know where I can look to fix it. I really need this set up and its driving me crazy.

Wlan drivers were not installed or supplied which I thought odd but went to Toshiba site and downloaded and installed driver for:"wlan-intel-3945-4965-v1200730-vista32.zip". From the start connection was very hit and miss, if I persevered and kept trying diagnosing and repairing the connection it might connect or might not. Now it won't connect at all. From previous experience I knew that a misconfigured firewall could cause problems so I uninstalled the trial version of McAfee and turned off Windows firewall, I intended to install Zone Alarm anyway. Also disabled router firewall. No difference at all.

It gives me the option of allowing it or cancelling it - cancelling means I don't know what the program is and don't want it to load. What the heck is going on? Is this mal-ware? Is it already on my computer? My mal-ware scans with Ad-Aware don't mention it. Nor do scans by Windows Defender. But it's spooky....

View 9 Replies View RelatedI know how to get Incompatible games to work is the simple answer. I will be here during my time on this forum correcting any issues for games. Dungeon Keeper is one of my all time favourite games, took me about a week to find this fix, been working on it really hard. You don't need DosBox, or Virtual Servers etc, just Windows Vista, and Dungeon Keeper. I am at work at the moment, so I can't post what to do to make it work, but will do shortly, on my break or something.
View 3 Replies View RelatedSetup: New Vista PC (bargain-rack special - a bare-bones office machine with Vista Home Basic) has a built-in VGA adapter. I want to do the two-monitor setup, so I plugged in my ATI video card as the second video driver. Problem: When I boot the machine, I get the following error: Incompatible display adapter has been disabled. At least one display adapter on the system has been disabled because its driver is not compatible with the driver for the VGA adapter.
What I find odd, though perhaps it is not odd to you, is that the internal driver was the one disabled - the ATI card is now defaulted as the main (and only enabled) driver. In Control Panel, it does not say that the drivers or controllers are disabled, but instead that there are problems. Clicking on Troubleshoot does nothing at all.
This is an old list from BETA RC1 so a lot may not apply after the latest updates by microsoft to the released version of Vista. Feel Free to add or remove any of the following information:.....

Every time I open Windows Mail up, or the news groups, I get a message saying Windows mail isn't my default mail program, and asks if I want it to be. How stable is Windows Live Mail? Does it convert your old Windows Mail messages and keep storing messages on your computer, or only online? And what about Contacts? Is there something good to read to read about moving from Windows Mail to Windows Live Mail? The material at is pretty superficial.
View 4 Replies View RelatedWhat, if any, inferences can be drawn from the fact that there are typically three times more posts about Windows Mail (WM) than Windows Live Mail (WLM). Could it be that:
(a) WM is more troublesome than WLM (in view of the greater complexity of WLM this seems improbable)?
(b) Many more people use WM (seems probable - I wonder what the figures are)?
(c) A higher proportion of technically savvy users are likely to be early adopters of Windows 7 who have to find an alternative to WM. Some then migrate to a non-Microsoft email client such as Thunderbird, while those that try WLM find they can master it with few problems (plausible)?
My feeling is that there seem to be an awful lot of folk hanging on to WM and that they might be put off updating to Windows 7 because neither WM (nor Outlook Express) will not be available (at least not in a securely supported version) to run on it. I am cross-posting this to both newsgroups and suggest that replies go to WM as it has the larger following.

Sometime it recovers but otherwise I need to kill it. I can open the attachment by clicking on the paper clip etc and everything seems fine so I don't think it's a security thing.
