I receive a lot of e-mail from the same people and sometimes they come in as attachments when it's just a regular e-mail. It doesn't happen all the time. I sthere some setting I can change?
View 4 RepliesMy system restore fails every time I attempt it. This has happened the last 3 times I had a need to attempt restore. (Three attempts separated by months in time, about different issues.) This time, I am thinking something may be wrong with my system restore function.
In this case, it is simply a matter of trying to roll back a browser update.
I saw a whole list of available restore points, and I went to the second one back - from only a few days ago. The restore failed.
I am using Windows Vista Home Premium, OEM from Gateway Laptop about 1.5 yrs old. I allow most updates.
I just received an email that also has an attachment. There is a spot for the attachment (picture) to actually appear in the email--there is a red square box with a little "x" on the upper left side where the picture should be; but there is nothing in the box. But I can open the attachment with I click on it. The attachment is: image003.jpg(12.5KB). I am running Vista Home Premium with Norton's 360.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm just trying to get used to this windows mail. When i try to send an e mail with a few photos attatched. As well as the photo id showing under the subject bar the photos are being shown within the viewing pain way over sized so when i try to send the photos they are holding too much info for receiving address to accept so the e mail is bouncing back. I cant see where there are options to change this.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI am using Windows Vista Mail in the Vista Premium Home Version, 2007, Service Pack 2. Recently, I attached some reduced size photos (about 60kb each) to an email. When I sent the email, they remained attached but also, they opened up for viewing in the body of the email, making the email HUGE in size. I have searched for ways to turn this feature off, so that the attached photos do not open and show up in the body of the email, but without any luck. Therefore, currently I cannot turn this feature off. I only want photos to be attached, NOT OPEN UP to be viewed in the body of the email. Does anybody know how to change the setting in my Windows Mail so that the attachments will NOT open up?
View 4 Replies View RelatedWhy isn't there a headphones setting like XP has? Stereo, Quad, 5.1 and 7.1 are there but no Headphones? CSS doesn't allow me to choose headphones in game and resets itself to Stereo. I have an X-fi and have the Audio HQ installed and I have it set to Headphones but CSS isn't as distinctive as it was in XP. I find it harder now to pin point enemy location. In XP it was a lot more distinctive. BTW, I'm using Vista now because I got fed up with the datacache.dll error in Source games.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have backup software on my computer that backs up to an off-sitelocation.I had some questions about how well it was or wasn't functioning, and I attempted to send the tech a copy of the data log as an attachment to my email to him.However, after I attach it to the email, when I try to send it I get a pop-up that says, "Some of the files could not be found, and could not be attached to the message. Would you like to send the message anyway?" What is causing this problem? As far as I can tell, I do not have the
file opened when I'm trying to send the email. (I sent the log anyway by copying it and pasting it into a Word document, and then attaching that to my email.)
Is there a way to recover a modified email attachment if you only opened it from the email, modified it and just hit the save icon?

A customer of ours sends an email to my email address and the Vista guy's email address with a PDF attachment enclosed. I get the attachment, but the Vista guy does not. His email is blank with no attachment clip or nothing showing any kind of an attachment. How can that be? If I 'forward' the Vista guy in our office the same email that was sent to both of us, THEN he receives the attachment and can view it. How can someone forward an email attachment to two people and one of them not get it?? I've checked all his security settings and his firewall and nothing is amiss. He can get email attachments from everyone except this one customer.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm new to this, so hope I'm not being repetitive. I recently started working from a home office. Got most things working fine. However, when I receive a vCard as an email attachment, it comes with a generic icon and won't open. I tried associating it with MS Outlook, so now it opens a new email, with the vcf file in the attachment spot. If I double-click that, it does it again. Of course, now I can't remove the association - and in any event I don't know what program to put in its place. I've tried clicking the "find appropriate programme on the web". It tells me that the file is a .vcf (I knew that) but doesn't provide me with the program I need. In the past Outlook has just automatically handled this stuff.

View 4 Replies View Relatedcan i change a setting on both my desktop (Ultimate) and laptop (Premium) so that either can "wake" the other? I know i can set the network card to "wake on LAN", but i tried that and i believe the machine (desktop) never went to sleep because the card was always active since i'm on a cable modem that's always on (memory is a little fuzzy on that, its been a while). Basically, i want to be able to access and wake either machine that may be "sleeping" without physically going to that location to wiggle the mouse, as it were.

One thing that is annoying me is that if your folder view is details and you have your mouse set to select when you hover your cursor over a file it will select the file even if you hover over the size column or the type column etc. In XP it would only select if you hovered over the name of the file. Is there anyway to change this setting?
View 9 Replies View RelatedThe Fonts on my vista install seem to be larger than they should be. When I open dialog boxes the text extend past the edge of the window and gets cut off. The DPI is set to default but the setting also has a strike through it. (see image), also notice the text extending the form. If i change the setting to 120 dpi there is a noticeable difference. I've looked everywhere and can't find anything on this!

So that account sits there, unused, and I've decided to remove it. The problem is that I don't know how. View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm having a problem with my MS Office suite 2003 on my new PC (Belarc analysis below). Two issues that have been coming up for me are that my email settings in Outlook won't allow me to bring in my email (IMAP/SMTP set up) and the second is that any time I try to change my office assistant it keeps telling me I don't have enough memory (!). What's going on with this? After all, this is a 3 GB machine, things that worked on my 1 GB shouldn't have a problem.

i used advanced vista optimiser to give my laptop a good clean out as i do every week. but this time when i went to log on the diagnostic comes and says either change proxy settings or try resetting local connection setting. i tried resetting many a time which as done no good. web address bar states where its going but the diag box comes on again.so in the mean time while this is all going on a new tab keeps on opening by its self and saying the same thing,this started to happen before i cleaned my l.p but it was just redirecting to a blank page.
that is why i did the clean.anyhow resetting the lan did not work so i reset the internet expolorer in the tools on the bar. which as worked but the same thing is still happening with the tab ,but now its redirecting to all the freebiee sites and it will not stop. i have spyware-adware-trojan software on my l.p and still no good it did pick up 3 infections which it sorted out, its driving me f*&^%*ng nuts:mad::mad:
how to change the default setting of the Recent Items on the Start menu from alphabetical to date order in Vista Home Premium. I did it on my desktop a year ago- I seem to recall it was a Registry change- but on my laptop I'm stuck with the useless alphabetical order.
View 5 Replies View RelatedSomehow when I was wiping off my keyboard I must have renamed my recycle bin (you know how that stuff happens) ... so I saw that it was numbered. I renamed it Recycle Bin like it should be. Well when I go into Personalization 1 full ... They are both named Recycle Bin and they have (empty) and (full) underneath the correct ones. The problem is that when I empty the recycle bin depending on which one is on my desktop, it doesn't change ... in other words .... it doesn't matter if I have the empty or full one on my desktop ... if I put something in it and *empty recycle* bin, it doesn't change to empty or vice versa. In short lol ... what did I do and how do I restore them? I tried to hit *restore icon* and that didn't work. This is making me nuts ...
