When I try to send an email with an XML file attachment, the program (windows live mail) hangs and nothing gets to the outbox. I have to send it with a computer running XP.
View 4 RepliesWhenever I request a "File|Open" or "File|Save" from any application, the mini-Windows-Explorer dialog box that opens freezes and hangs the entire application. Happens with almost all applications. Not limited to just Microsoft programs. It does not matter if I like change the download folder or if I rt click always the same.
Back when it was under warranty Hp tells me to just restore to original settings. I hate to do that. But I am about to see that this might be the only fix for it. (But I am hoping not.) I think it started a long time ago when I was changing the USB ports I used for my external Hard drive and it changed drive letter. (maybe maybe not.. just seems I remember that being something that had happened when I first recall things hanging...) anyway I have all drives in the place I want them now and this issue still happens even if I dont have that external drive plugged in.
I am running x64 vista business on my brand new machine using a q6600 (g0), asus maximus formula, 2gb kingston hyperx RAM, and a 160gb SATA boot disk and a 500 gb IDE drive. Also, a 8800 gt. I am able to run programs such as internet explorer or whatever, but any time i am in a program (including the search bar) as soon as i press any key on the keyboard the program hangs (with the serch bar it says Windows Explorer is not responding" on the Not Responding dialog box. I cannot use my computer until this is fixed, and i am in desperate need of help. i can't find anything about it online, can anyone help me?

I am using Vista and Office 2007 and each time I try and attach the file it states that 'Some of the files could not be found, and could not be attached to the message. Would you like to send the message anyway?' Could somebody spread some light on this for me please. I am not using office for a commercial purpose at all

I have an email in my outbox for 4 days that has a 1 GB file attached I cannot delete it is hanging up other very small emails also from going out. I have tried working offline and deleted the auto send receive, shutting down etc. Only way I can get any emails out at all is to shut down OL program and restart it, but that only works sometimes.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI am using Windows Vista Mail in the Vista Premium Home Version, 2007, Service Pack 2. Recently, I attached some reduced size photos (about 60kb each) to an email. When I sent the email, they remained attached but also, they opened up for viewing in the body of the email, making the email HUGE in size. I have searched for ways to turn this feature off, so that the attached photos do not open and show up in the body of the email, but without any luck. Therefore, currently I cannot turn this feature off. I only want photos to be attached, NOT OPEN UP to be viewed in the body of the email. Does anybody know how to change the setting in my Windows Mail so that the attachments will NOT open up?

Create an association in the Set Associations control panel."by editing the registry renaming Show to Open. I still get the same message when trying to open the attachment. If I save the attachment to the desktop or a folder, I am able to open it. I use PowerPoint Viewer 2003 and my OS is Vista Home Premium with SP1. Before I installed SP1, I had to re-image my hard drive. Previous to the re-image I was able to open a pps attachment from an e-mail because before the re-image I had edited the registry as indicated in the above link. My question is - why doesn't this fix work now?

Then I pressed the X button to close it and excel asked me if I wanted to save the file. I said YES, and it saved the file. Now I can't find it in anywhere. I reworked on the file like 2 hours. A customer of ours sends an email to my email address and the Vista guy's email address with a PDF attachment enclosed. I get the attachment, but the Vista guy does not. His email is blank with no attachment clip or nothing showing any kind of an attachment. How can that be? If I 'forward' the Vista guy in our office the same email that was sent to both of us, THEN he receives the attachment and can view it. How can someone forward an email attachment to two people and one of them not get it?? I've checked all his security settings and his firewall and nothing is amiss. He can get email attachments from everyone except this one customer.

There is a spot for the attachment (picture) to actually appear in the email--there is a red square box with a little "x" on the upper left side where the picture should be; but there is nothing in the box. I have vista ultimative 64 bit danish version sp1. I have tried to disable antivirus/firewall but it is still the same. Prolonging the servers responstime in account options to 1 minut..doesn? View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm new to this, so hope I'm not being repetitive. I recently started working from a home office. Got most things working fine. However, when I receive a vCard as an email attachment, it comes with a generic icon and won't open. I tried associating it with MS Outlook, so now it opens a new email, with the vcf file in the attachment spot. If I double-click that, it does it again. Of course, now I can't remove the association - and in any event I don't know what program to put in its place. I've tried clicking the "find appropriate programme on the web". It tells me that the file is a .vcf (I knew that) but doesn't provide me with the program I need. In the past Outlook has just automatically handled this stuff.

View 5 Replies View RelatedMy system restore fails every time I attempt it. This has happened the last 3 times I had a need to attempt restore. (Three attempts separated by months in time, about different issues.) This time, I am thinking something may be wrong with my system restore function.
In this case, it is simply a matter of trying to roll back a browser update.
I saw a whole list of available restore points, and I went to the second one back - from only a few days ago. The restore failed.
I am using Windows Vista Home Premium, OEM from Gateway Laptop about 1.5 yrs old. I allow most updates.
