This has to be the most confusing and difficult set up I've seen.
In VERY simple terms, how do you set up the blasted "server address" in order to send mail? I received all the spam they sent me just fine, but when I try to send mail, I get nothing but error messages about the POP server address.
I looked in these threads, and every answer seems to be using words and terms you need years of computer training to understand. I don't have that training, I'm merely an intelligent person trying to set up my email account.
So how do you enter or correct this stupid business about POP3 servers and so on?
I got the information from my ISP, they gave me two lines,
outgoing mail, (SMTP):SMTP.comcast.net
incoming mail, (POP3):mail.comcast.net
I tried to enter this stuff in the fields, but it still won't work, this whole setup process is VERY complicated and impossible for me to follow.
So can somebody pleae tell me, in simple plain english, what is the exact procedure you use to type in the server addresses for incoming and outgoing mail?

It told me to use my yahoo log in and password and that is what I try to use and I keep getting the same error message.

I'm trying to set up a new email account have followed the instructions all ok until it gets to the email server names for incoming and outgoing mail. how do I find out my email server names?
I have 2 computers, one has Outook (xp) and one has Windows mail (vista) both set up for the same email address. When I receive an email on Windows and open it, it doesn't appear on the Outlook computer. Anything received on Outlook always comes through on Windows.
How can I get my email to always appear on both computers?
Also, the Windows Vista computer will only receive email, I get an error message when I try to send:

Is it just me or had vista consigned the art of the simple mouse-click to history. Why when i click on a folder does it always try to rename it ? If i wish to rename it i would right click like every othe microsoft OS ever created. Why when i click on a short cut from my desk top does nothing happen (no feedback that i have clicked) so i click again and get two (or more) application loading. I have a question about setting up an account from other than my isp, ex: comcast. I am a volunteer at a christmas website and I need to set up an account. When I set it up the same as I did in outlook express I get the error message that my login has failed. However, I can access the account on webmai.
Been trying for hours to use Xbox 360 to access music and other files on my compuer, using both Drive address and network address. ALL files can be seen successfully on WMC on the Vista computer but nothing on the Xbox 360 -- except some photos on my son's XP machine (that worked easily).Could really use a simple solution to this please!
It has happened occasionally, but with no predictability that I can see. I change settings in control pannel / power settings / balanced to 10 min for monitor and never for computer. I check the "advanced settings" to assure that they are the same. I use balanced because that seems to be the default in the registry. I do not see the actual settings in the registry. Every so often Vista resets the settings back to 20 min for the monitor. I have looked at but it speaks of "System Settings page" - I don't know what that is. In any case, my settings have no effect and I can't get the monitor to dependably go to standby after 10 minutes.
in Window XP, i used to be able to select full address to be displayed in the address bar. But for Window Vista, I could not find the way to do it. e.g. instead of showing D:Document, i want to show \sapsgsmapsnap01document. I want to send the link to my colleague to access directly to destination folder.
Whenever i create a new email by click "To" to open up my address book for selecting any email address, or when i use "reply all" and want to add in some more email address from the address book, the computer start to run and till it stuck, so the only choice for me is to end this task and type email address instead of selecting email address from address book.
i thought that this is because i got too many email address, thus i deleted most of it and now only got 700 email address inside my address book, i just can not understand that when outlook express can take more than 3000 email address book, but windows mail can not take about 700 email address book. This computer is new to me and so is vista - I have had no problem with email because I have always gone to my own ISP via explorer. Today, however, I wanted to reply to a craigslist seller and found that my computer was trying to send the email with windows mail (and not sending!)- it was asking me questions like who my outgoing server and incoming server is - can anyone tell me what I need to do? Do I have to use windows mail or can my computer be set to default to yahoo email like my old one was?

I have downloaded windows mail to my new vista prem system, as i read on here it will intergrate your accounts. I cannot however make hotmail work on this and this is my account. I am with Sky internet wise. How can i add my hotmail to my new system?
I'm not a very technical person but here goes. I have an acer desktop at work and for some reason it will not pick up the internet. We have tried everything, even changing the cord. We have cable internet and I'm on a router/hub with 3 other people. When we try to put an IP address in and save it we go back in and see that the IP address is gone. It won't hold it.
I want to only show the names of the recipients of my e-mails as I was able to do on my last PC. At present the person's full name & full e-mail address is visible.
But all of a sudden, I cant. I talked to my ISP and they say that nothing change on their side and I still have a dynamic IP. I believe that maybe one of the updates is responsible for this, I update to SP1 and almost every update exist for vista. So, my question is, do you know maybe on an update that can cause this?
I have 4 pc''s on my network. UNfortunately 1 is vista. I can ping the other 3 pcs in vista but i cannot see/connect to them them. How the hell do you search by ip address in vista?. In xp youi simply right click on network and search. I cannot find anyway to do this in vista.
