Who My Outgoing Server And Incoming Server Is:craiglist Of Email
Sep 14, 2009
This computer is new to me and so is vista - I have had no problem with email because I have always gone to my own ISP via explorer. Today, however, I wanted to reply to a craigslist seller and found that my computer was trying to send the email with windows mail (and not sending!)- it was asking me questions like who my outgoing server and incoming server is - can anyone tell me what I need to do? Do I have to use windows mail or can my computer be set to default to yahoo email like my old one was?
I dont understand what the incoming mail server and outgoing e-mail server means. Ive read the help info but I still dont understand what Im supposed to put there.
i recently purchased a new laptop, which has Windows Live mail installed. I tried to set up an account using hotmail, which i could not do so i set up a live email address. each time i log on to my account i get the following error message
the host SMTP could not be found. please verify that you have entered the server correctly. I get the same message for the POP3 error message. so the questions are as follows:
1. what are the live server addresses? 2. where do i go in and change them?
When setting up my e-mail account and I get to incoming and outgoing promps it comes back to me that neither POP3 or IMAP are valid. As of now I hate this system. But I am stuck with it for my business.
The information needed to begin a new account is almost impossible to find....I can't locate the incoming or outgoing server to set up windows mail. You'd think that information would come with your new Windows Vista Home Premium when you purchase it on your computer, but it doesn't. Does anyone know how to solve this mystery? I didn't think it should be so difficult.....
I am trying to set up my account today but dont know what is incoming and outcoming server. My computer is windows vista and my email is at yahoo.com I have an account also with live.com Please let me know..my internet service privider is comcast ... not sure what other info is needed ....
I have no idea what any of this is about, all very confusing and frustrating. Im trying to send an email to the school from a site i have to send it from. And it says to set it up but i dont know what the incoming e-mail server type is. And dont know what IMAP or POP3 is and what goes in there for the incoming mail server. As well as the outgoing e-mail server name (SMTP) I'm so clueless and usually confused when it comes to technical stuff on cumputers.
How do I pick up my yahoo mail, I have set up every thing that is required put I can neither send nor recieve any mail. I'm trying to send an email to someone on craigslist. I'm being asked to set up email servers: Incomming email server type- POP3, IMAP, HTTP? Incomming email server? Outgoing email server name?
I am staying with family temporarily after selling my home. I kept my roadrunner account to retain my email addresses until I find a new home. I am hooked up to their internet, Verizon FIOS, thru a wireless connection. I am receiving my mail in Windows mail, but I can't seem to get the outgoign configured to send on their server. I entered the smtp server, outgoing.verizon.net and set it for authentication using their email and password but that doesn't work.
I'm having the same problem as peterchinphoto (i just said that outloud). I'm using ATT.NET and I can't get my outgoing server to work. I've set it up just like it should be. Even used ATT chat with tech support and still no sending. What's weird is I can't receive mail either unless I use the default settings for my incomming server.
I want to add an account to my windowasmail but I dont know where to find my POP servername and SMTP outgoing servername. Where can I find witch server names my computer has?
The message could not be sent. The authentication setting might not be correct for your outgoing e-mail [SMTP] server. For help solving this problem, go to Help, search for "Troubleshoot Windows Mail", and read the "I'm having problems sending e-mail" section. If you need help determining the proper server settings, please contact your e-mail service provider.

I have 2 computers, one has Outook (xp) and one has Windows mail (vista) both set up for the same email address. When I receive an email on Windows and open it, it doesn't appear on the Outlook computer. Anything received on Outlook always comes through on Windows.
How can I get my email to always appear on both computers?
Also, the Windows Vista computer will only receive email, I get an error message when I try to send:

I am having an issue when trying to send emails out. It has been working fine until about 2 weeks ago. Message appears as follows.
The connection to the server has failed. Subject 'test', Account: 'mail.aapt.net.au', Server: 'mail.aapt.net.au', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 23, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E
Just managed to get my incoming mail sorted (hopefully full-time) and now getting the following error message when sending: 'The message could not be sent. It appears as though several people are having the same problem as me. In the last two days, I have not been able to send email. The incoming still works, but outgoing does not.
The connection to the server has failed. Subject 'Re: Test email from Knology technical support', Account: 'test', Server: 'smtp.knology.net', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 1025, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E
I have talked with Knology tech support and they say that the settings are correct and the problem is on the Windows Mail side.
I set up my windows mail so that I can get my work email at home. It worked fine for several weeks. Now I get the following error message anytime I try to send mail or check for new messages:
Subject 'Re: Special Needs Application', Account: 'campberachah.org', Server: 'campberachah.org', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '250 AUTH LOGIN PLAIN', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): Yes, Server Error: 250, Error Number: 0x800CCC7D

These messages started when I tried to add my comcast.net account as well. I have since deleted the comcast account, but the messages still occur. Sometimes late at night the program will connect and download my messages, but it fails 99% of the time.
Have set up windows live.com.au as email address as wireless provider does not have email server, thought it would be easy but tried many variations but cannot figure out pop3 or smtp server address, no use contacting provider as it is windows (ie hotmail account) any clues?
