View 8 RepliesThis computer is new to me and so is vista - I have had no problem with email because I have always gone to my own ISP via explorer. Today, however, I wanted to reply to a craigslist seller and found that my computer was trying to send the email with windows mail (and not sending!)- it was asking me questions like who my outgoing server and incoming server is - can anyone tell me what I need to do? Do I have to use windows mail or can my computer be set to default to yahoo email like my old one was?
View 4 Replies View Relatedi recently purchased a new laptop, which has Windows Live mail installed. I tried to set up an account using hotmail, which i could not do so i set up a live email address. each time i log on to my account i get the following error message
the host SMTP could not be found. please verify that you have entered the server correctly. I get the same message for the POP3 error message. so the questions are as follows:
1. what are the live server addresses?
2. where do i go in and change them?
When setting up my e-mail account and I get to incoming and outgoing promps it comes back to me that neither POP3 or IMAP are valid. As of now I hate this system. But I am stuck with it for my business.
View 5 Replies View RelatedThe information needed to begin a new account is almost impossible to find....I can't locate the incoming or outgoing server to set up windows mail. You'd think that information would come with your new Windows Vista Home Premium when you purchase it on your computer, but it doesn't. Does anyone know how to solve this mystery? I didn't think it should be so difficult.....

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have no idea what any of this is about, all very confusing and frustrating. Im trying to send an email to the school from a site i have to send it from. And it says to set it up but i dont know what the incoming e-mail server type is. And dont know what IMAP or POP3 is and what goes in there for the incoming mail server. As well as the outgoing e-mail server name (SMTP) I'm so clueless and usually confused when it comes to technical stuff on cumputers.

I am staying with family temporarily after selling my home. I kept my roadrunner account to retain my email addresses until I find a new home. I am hooked up to their internet, Verizon FIOS, thru a wireless connection. I am receiving my mail in Windows mail, but I can't seem to get the outgoign configured to send on their server. I entered the smtp server, outgoing.verizon.net and set it for authentication using their email and password but that doesn't work.

What's weird is I can't receive mail either unless I use the default settings for my incomming server.

I have 2 computers, one has Outook (xp) and one has Windows mail (vista) both set up for the same email address. When I receive an email on Windows and open it, it doesn't appear on the Outlook computer. Anything received on Outlook always comes through on Windows.
How can I get my email to always appear on both computers?

Does anyone know how to put a cap on how many emails I can receive? In other words, if I were to want no more than 50 emails, how do I set that up? I have searched everywhere. When I had XP, it held a certain amount and then would bounce back to sender saying "mailbox full". Is this possible for Windows Mail on Vista Home Premium 64 bit?

How do I change my outgoing email from port 25 to port 80
View 6 Replies View RelatedWhenever I send an email with pictures embedded in the body of the email, all the recipient sees is a bunch of red x's. Typically, what I am sending is a forward of something someone else sent to me. Since I received and viewed the pictures just fine, clearly the problem is not in how the pictures are in the email. The preview of my outgoing email always shows the pictures just fine. But the recipients never can view them.
I have a Vista computer, and am using Windows Mail with my Cox email account. My wife is on the same computer. We have separate user accounts. She has the same setup as me - Windows Mail with her Cox email account. The security software is Microsoft Security Essentials. We had previously been using McAfee. My problems remained the same under both softwares. My wife has had no problems with sending pictures. She will receive the same email as me, forward it to someone else, and they can vie the pictures just fine. She can forward an email to me, and I can view the pictures. But if I forward that email back to her, like everyone else, all she sees is red x's.
