It appears as though several people are having the same problem as me. In the last two days, I have not been able to send email. The incoming still works, but outgoing does not.
The connection to the server has failed. Subject 'Re: Test email from Knology technical support', Account: 'test', Server: 'smtp.knology.net', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 1025, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E
I have talked with Knology tech support and they say that the settings are correct and the problem is on the Windows Mail side.
I am trying to set up my account today but dont know what is incoming and outcoming server. My computer is windows vista and my email is at yahoo.com I have an account also with live.com Please let me know..my internet service privider is comcast ... not sure what other info is needed ....
I have no idea what any of this is about, all very confusing and frustrating. Im trying to send an email to the school from a site i have to send it from. And it says to set it up but i dont know what the incoming e-mail server type is. And dont know what IMAP or POP3 is and what goes in there for the incoming mail server. As well as the outgoing e-mail server name (SMTP) I'm so clueless and usually confused when it comes to technical stuff on cumputers.
When setting up my e-mail account and I get to incoming and outgoing promps it comes back to me that neither POP3 or IMAP are valid. As of now I hate this system. But I am stuck with it for my business.
The information needed to begin a new account is almost impossible to find....I can't locate the incoming or outgoing server to set up windows mail. You'd think that information would come with your new Windows Vista Home Premium when you purchase it on your computer, but it doesn't. Does anyone know how to solve this mystery? I didn't think it should be so difficult.....
I dont understand what the incoming mail server and outgoing e-mail server means. Ive read the help info but I still dont understand what Im supposed to put there.
i recently purchased a new laptop, which has Windows Live mail installed. I tried to set up an account using hotmail, which i could not do so i set up a live email address. each time i log on to my account i get the following error message
the host SMTP could not be found. please verify that you have entered the server correctly. I get the same message for the POP3 error message. so the questions are as follows:
1. what are the live server addresses? 2. where do i go in and change them?
this is only the 3rd time I've posted this, so hopefully, 3rd time is a charm. I use OE script type stationery (Windows mail is supposed to be an 'enhanced' Outlook Express). Whenever an Incoming mail has an applet, Windows Mail Crashes.
This computer is new to me and so is vista - I have had no problem with email because I have always gone to my own ISP via explorer. Today, however, I wanted to reply to a craigslist seller and found that my computer was trying to send the email with windows mail (and not sending!)- it was asking me questions like who my outgoing server and incoming server is - can anyone tell me what I need to do? Do I have to use windows mail or can my computer be set to default to yahoo email like my old one was?
When I open it WM I get no incoming and this is the message I get... Ett ok??nt fel har uppst??tt. Konto: 'pop.bredband.net', Server: 'pop.bredband.net', Protokoll: POP3, Port: 110, Secure (SSL): Nej, Felnummer: 0x800C0148 I also have no access to the contents of my folders. If I right click on the folders and look at properties I see that there are messages in the folders, but I have no access to them.
My old laptop running Outlook is sitting on my desk now so I can work, but I need to get at the msgs in WM in my new computer. Why is it doing this and what do I need to do to have the dependibility I had w/ Outlook Express. And please don't tell me that I have to disable mail scanning functions. What M$ needs to do is enable it's software!
I do not know if there is any cause and effect relationship between these two but since Windows installed some 10 updates two days ago,Windows Mail is unable to get down from the e-mail server of my I S P even a few incoming messages and that too even if I keep the Windows Mail open for one hour. I can of course connect to the WebMail facility of my I S P and see those messages but they will not get into my InBox of WinMail. Strangely, whereas WinMail says it is downloading those 2 or 3 messages (each of size 2K to 5K) for an hour, it is able to download Newsgroup or Microsoft Community messages (some of them 10 times longer) in a jiffy. So the problem is not with volume of downloading. If I close WinMail after waiting for a long time and try to reopen it, Vista says "another instance of WinMail is downloading messages". I have no choice left then but to do Control-Alt-Delete and end the Process. I tried to ask Vista to restore my system to the day before the Windows updates were installed but that Restore failed, according to Vista. Could anyone advise me as to how to restore my system to a working
I am using ver. 6.0.6000.16386 (vista_rtm.061101-2205).
I have just had a test done and noticed that on my webmail from my provider there are 7 messages in the inbox. But when I download to Windows Mail, only 4 of the 7 actually come in!?
Is there a known bug or something (e.g. problem with the junkfilter?) There is no set rule from this sender and I have suspected since this several weeks now, so I would have noticed if a rule had misplaced them. Is there a logfile or something to look back on or a freeware tool I could download for diagnostics?
This is my last resort, otherwise I'll have to download thunderbird and neglect this unreliable Windows Mail programm.
my outgoing email problem with windows mail useing a AT&T aircard. I contacted AT&T and they had me to change my outgoing mail server to "cwmx.com" and also uncheck the box on the authentification box. My outgoing mail has been working great ever since! I still have to go back in and check the box for authentification to recieve mail.
I have been happily using Windows Mail since December through my Yahoo.co.uk account. All of a sudden I cannot send outgoing mails and just get the following message:
"Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity. Subject '

Further to my previous problem with outgoing mail ie. sometimes have to select Send/Recieve All or Synchronise to get mail out, when outgoing mail fails the following error message is displayed
An unknown error has occurred. Subject 'Test', Account: 'pop.mail.yahoo.de', Server: 'smtp.mail.yahoo.de', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '421 Cannot connect to SMTP server 217.12.11.250 (217.12.11.250:25), connect error 10060', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 421, Error Number: 0x800CCC67
I've read several other similar threads but can't solve this. I can't get my outgoing pop3 mail to send through Gmail in Windows Mail. I've repeatedly checked instructions as given through many sites to make sure all the right ports are typed in for Gmail, all the right boxes checked. I even unchecked the box someone suggested in the Norton security outgoing mail filter, and I still get this message:
The host 'stmp.gmail.com' could not be found. Please verify that you have entered the server name correctly. Subject 'testing 123', Account: 'pop.gmail.com', Server: 'stmp.gmail.com', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 465, Secure(SSL): Yes, Socket Error: 11001, Error Number: 0x800CCC0D

I just recently started using windows mail. It was fine till a day ago and it asked me for my id and password. when I put the info in it doubled my mail. Everything I get now comes twice. I thought it was a Vista securiity thing or something.
