When I open it WM I get no incoming and this is the message I get... Ett ok??nt fel har uppst??tt. Konto: 'pop.bredband.net', Server: 'pop.bredband.net', Protokoll: POP3, Port: 110, Secure (SSL): Nej, Felnummer: 0x800C0148 I also have no access to the contents of my folders. If I right click on the folders and look at properties I see that there are messages in the folders, but I have no access to them.
My old laptop running Outlook is sitting on my desk now so I can work, but I need to get at the msgs in WM in my new computer. Why is it doing this and what do I need to do to have the dependibility I had w/ Outlook Express. And please don't tell me that I have to disable mail scanning functions. What M$ needs to do is enable it's software!
I am trying to set up my account today but dont know what is incoming and outcoming server. My computer is windows vista and my email is at yahoo.com I have an account also with live.com Please let me know..my internet service privider is comcast ... not sure what other info is needed ....
this is only the 3rd time I've posted this, so hopefully, 3rd time is a charm. I use OE script type stationery (Windows mail is supposed to be an 'enhanced' Outlook Express). Whenever an Incoming mail has an applet, Windows Mail Crashes.
It appears as though several people are having the same problem as me. In the last two days, I have not been able to send email. The incoming still works, but outgoing does not.
The connection to the server has failed. Subject 'Re: Test email from Knology technical support', Account: 'test', Server: 'smtp.knology.net', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 1025, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E
I have talked with Knology tech support and they say that the settings are correct and the problem is on the Windows Mail side.
I do not know if there is any cause and effect relationship between these two but since Windows installed some 10 updates two days ago,Windows Mail is unable to get down from the e-mail server of my I S P even a few incoming messages and that too even if I keep the Windows Mail open for one hour. I can of course connect to the WebMail facility of my I S P and see those messages but they will not get into my InBox of WinMail. Strangely, whereas WinMail says it is downloading those 2 or 3 messages (each of size 2K to 5K) for an hour, it is able to download Newsgroup or Microsoft Community messages (some of them 10 times longer) in a jiffy. So the problem is not with volume of downloading. If I close WinMail after waiting for a long time and try to reopen it, Vista says "another instance of WinMail is downloading messages". I have no choice left then but to do Control-Alt-Delete and end the Process. I tried to ask Vista to restore my system to the day before the Windows updates were installed but that Restore failed, according to Vista. Could anyone advise me as to how to restore my system to a working
I am using ver. 6.0.6000.16386 (vista_rtm.061101-2205).
I have just had a test done and noticed that on my webmail from my provider there are 7 messages in the inbox. But when I download to Windows Mail, only 4 of the 7 actually come in!?
Is there a known bug or something (e.g. problem with the junkfilter?) There is no set rule from this sender and I have suspected since this several weeks now, so I would have noticed if a rule had misplaced them. Is there a logfile or something to look back on or a freeware tool I could download for diagnostics?
This is my last resort, otherwise I'll have to download thunderbird and neglect this unreliable Windows Mail programm.
is there a file size limit with windows mail? i have been sent files and they do not make it through to my email account with windows mail, but they are viewable at the yahoo server? is there a place where i can change the size of the files to be allowed to be received?
Suddenly my email is receiving hte same messages every time it updates, and I cannot stop these same messages from re-appearing in my in box with every new "Send/receive" update
I am trying to set up Windows Email but it is asking my for the following and I have no idea where to find the information:- Set up e-mail servers incoming e-mail service POP3, IMAP or HTTP - which one do I have Incoming Mail (POP3 or IMAP) Server - which one is it Outgoing e-mail Server (SMTP)20
Running Vista on an HP...When I get the pop up to compact the mail I click OK and it gets about 3 quarters of the way thru and I get the message Windows Mail has stopped working and Windows is searching for an answer. The answer was DEP (Data Execution Protection)was shutting it down to protect my computer..What's the problem??? Norton internet Security up to date and nothing found with complete system scan..Vista up to date as well.
I unchecked phishing. Mail came in. Second try, same POP3 error. Phishing remains unchecked. When I click send/recieve progress box comes up,says recieving, no arrow movement, 1 minute later error comes up.
I just recently started using windows mail. It was fine till a day ago and it asked me for my id and password. when I put the info in it doubled my mail. Everything I get now comes twice. I thought it was a Vista securiity thing or something.
Your pop3 server has not responded in 60 seconds is all it keeps saying and i have a cack log of incoming mail now Account: 'mail.btinternet.com', Server: 'mail.btinternet.com', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800CCC19

Account: 'pop.tools.sky.com', Server: 'pop.tools.sky.com', Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '-ERR not supported g9pf2811797gvc.9', Port: 995, Secure(SSL): Yes, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC18d
Now that I am operating out of Windows Mail, is there something that notifies me that I have mail, like........... an envelope turning in the corner of my screen that states "You've got Mail", or some sound that alerts me on the screen that I have incoming mail?
When I go to windows mail I find that incoming mail is opening before i even select it. It has only just started doing this on its own. What could have happened
I have no clue what POP3 Servers are for incoming mail. (in reference to starting outlook on a new laptop, it ask which pop3 server im using, What is this question refering to? Also for my outgoing SMTP, What does that mean? What are mine? Im trying to use YAHOO. OR Gmail, Whichevers better
how do I get my contacts in my incoming mail display as names rather than email addresses. The contacts are in my address book with their full names and some show as their full names and others just show the email address.
I have no idea what any of this is about, all very confusing and frustrating. Im trying to send an email to the school from a site i have to send it from. And it says to set it up but i dont know what the incoming e-mail server type is. And dont know what IMAP or POP3 is and what goes in there for the incoming mail server. As well as the outgoing e-mail server name (SMTP) I'm so clueless and usually confused when it comes to technical stuff on cumputers.
I'm trying to send an email to someone on craigslist. I'm being asked to set up email servers: Incomming email server type- POP3, IMAP, HTTP? Incomming email server? Outgoing email server name?
Vista Business, windows mail. Problem receiving. Receive hangs on one of the messages. I now have a number of messages received mulitple times, Windows mail then gets to 'receiving message 7 of (currently) 21, and hangs. Sometime I get an error saying that the server has timed out. (No response for a minute) Was Perfectly OK last week. (and for a few weeks since getting my new laptop with Norton!)
it downloads the first 6 messages, gets stuck and times out on the 7th, with or without Norton. And of course, since it gets stuck, doesn't clear from the server, which is why the first six keep coming down. I think I am now on SP1, have uninstalled Norton to no effect. I think the problem mail has an Access attachment about 2 meg in size. Anyway, was OK last week, not now. receive is from oneandone, send from either oneandone or eclipse makes no difference.
I like to go back from time to time and see when I sent an email When I click on sent mail folder, windows mail goes off. Cannot look at sent mail, it quits working and reloads whats up?
I am new to vista forums. I configured gmail account in windows mail, but i'm not send or recieving mails. I'm getting the following error. Unable to send or receive messages for the GMAIL account. The connection to the server has failed.
Server: 'pop.gmail.com' Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800CCC0E Protocol: POP3 Port: 110 Secure(SSL): Yes Socket Error: 10060

Incoming port number as 995 and outgoing port no as 465. enable the My server requires authentication check box.I'm using latest version of windows mail. I turned off my windows firewall and my antivirus firewall also. In my antivirus i dont have a email scanning option
It's not even listed under my user name, as if it was deleted. Sorry if this is a duplicate. I am a new user on this forum. I am having problems with being able to send email with Windows Mail on a Toshiba laptop. It is running Vista Home Premium 64-bit OS. My ISP is Centurytel and the computer is having the problems on a university network (daughter's computer). University & Centurytel IT personell say all the settings are correct and it should be working fine. Mail can be received, just not sent, with or without anti-virus (Trend Micro) & spyware (SpySweeper) turned on. Here is the message I get when attempting to send mail:
"Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity. Subject 'Hi Arch!!!!', Account: 'Ashley Vitense', Server: 'smtpauth.centurytel.net', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800CCC0F"
Like lots of other people last week I suddenly couldn't send mail using Windows Mail and Vista Premium. Can delete unsent messages from Outbox ok and have today downloaded and run Norton Uninstall. At about the time email out stopped a Norton panel aaying I was about to load updates appeared which I cancelled immediately, (I originally used Norton 4 months ago but uninstalled and went to AVG), Norton appeared in Programs and would not uninstall but a System Recovery to the day before removed it from program list.
~Error message was Account POP. Server SMTP. Protocol SMTP. Server response 554 5.7.1. Recipient address rejected. Access denied. Port 25. Secure SSL: No. Server error 554, Error No 0x800CCC79 I can send webmail via Virgin.net but am connected by Pipex.
when I open Windows mail - to make matters worse I use a French version! When I open Windows mail, the column on the left which normally shows all mail box files doesn't appear. If I click on "dossiers local" which is the main list of all files in Windows mail, then the full list of files comes up on the right hand side. I then have to click one by one on each title for it to be transferred to the left hand side (sorry for the non-computer language). I have looked at the French forum but can't find a solution. I amalso trying to find out what OS I'm using (64 bit or 32 bit) so I can download an update which might fix the problem Can anyone assist. Plus which, certain emails have "This message can't be sent" "a problem has been encountered". I'm completely stuck on what to do!
Windows Mail has suddenly started asking me for a user name and password to receive messages . It has never done this before in the previous 1 month. Error msg comes Account: 'mail.mayekawa.in', Server: 'mail.mayekawa.in', Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '-ERR Invalid username', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC91
I cannot get into my windows mail. Every time I try, the windows security pops up and asks for my user name and password for my server. I do not have a clue what that is and have tried everything I can think of. I am a computer "dummy"! Have multipule emails that come in through windows too.
