I like to go back from time to time and see when I sent an email When I click on sent mail folder, windows mail goes off. Cannot look at sent mail, it quits working and reloads whats up?
View 5 RepliesRunning Vista on an HP...When I get the pop up to compact the mail I click OK and it gets about 3 quarters of the way thru and I get the message Windows Mail has stopped working and Windows is searching for an answer. The answer was DEP (Data Execution Protection)was shutting it down to protect my computer..What's the problem??? Norton internet Security up to date and nothing found with complete system scan..Vista up to date as well.
View 9 Replies View RelatedVista Business, windows mail. Problem receiving. Receive hangs on one of the messages. I now have a number of messages received mulitple times, Windows mail then gets to 'receiving message 7 of (currently) 21, and hangs. Sometime I get an error saying that the server has timed out. (No response for a minute) Was Perfectly OK last week. (and for a few weeks since getting my new laptop with Norton!)
it downloads the first 6 messages, gets stuck and times out on the 7th, with or without Norton. And of course, since it gets stuck, doesn't clear from the server, which is why the first six keep coming down. I think I am now on SP1, have uninstalled Norton to no effect. I think the problem mail has an Access attachment about 2 meg in size. Anyway, was OK last week, not now. receive is from oneandone, send from either oneandone or eclipse makes no difference.
I haven't used Windows mail (only used to read news groups) in some time, when I went to use it this morning I received this error message; Folder could not be opened Windows mail could not open this folder. The possible causes are not the problem. I have 2 gig memory and it was working fine when I only had 1 gig of memory. Disk space, I have over 90 gig of free space.
View 5 Replies View RelatedFor some reason my Windows DVD Maker has ceased to work when it used to work perfectly. I am able to add files to burn but when I hit next and go to where I can change the settings before burning it says that "windows dvd player has stopped working and windows is checking to see if there is a solution to the problem" I then get a message box stating "a problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."
This program used to work just fine but stopped working and I do not get a notification of what the problem is or a code or something from Windows. I've recently updated to SP1 using Vista on an Acer 5570 laptop. I've tried changing the speed and placing the video on my desktop instead of pulling from folders but that makes no difference. I've changed file extensions, downloaded other programs to convert files to different types thinking that's what was wrong. Nothing has worked. I can view just fine using Windows Media Player so I'm not sure why I can no longer burn using this program......
I get the following message when closing Windows Mail and trying to compact the messages. I have tried the things in the 2009 thread and nothing works. Has this been solved by Now?

I turned off my windows firewall and my antivirus firewall also. In my antivirus i dont have a email scanning option
It's not even listed under my user name, as if it was deleted. Sorry if this is a duplicate. I am a new user on this forum. I am having problems with being able to send email with Windows Mail on a Toshiba laptop. It is running Vista Home Premium 64-bit OS. My ISP is Centurytel and the computer is having the problems on a university network (daughter's computer). University & Centurytel IT personell say all the settings are correct and it should be working fine. Mail can be received, just not sent, with or without anti-virus (Trend Micro) & spyware (SpySweeper) turned on. Here is the message I get when attempting to send mail:

In my previous email program of choice, Outlook Express, I used to beable to select the "to" function within the email message template and see a display of contacts that included the FOLDERS. In Windows Mail, the same action calls up ALL the contacts and NO folders. ALthough I can select multiple contacts from the Windows Contacts folder and through "action", install them in the "To" pane of an email message, I cannot jump from folder to folder to, for example, select contacts within another folder whom I wish to CC on the same message. The "Action" sequence always generates a new email template, posting any selected contact or contacts to the "To" pane.
I do not wish to create GROUPS and then go through the convoluted process of calling up the group in the "To" pane, and then deleting the ones I don't want. Needless to say, this feature was critical to my email flow and organization. Am I missing something? I have checked every forum and group I can. Others report the same issue without resolution. One forum individual said, "That's the way Windows Mail is".
By default, the Inbox shows the field "From" while the Sent folder shows "To". When I create subfolders for the Inbox (eg. Business, Important, Personal, etc) again it shows "From" as you'd expect.
However, if I try and create a subfolder for my Sent folder, instead of having the field "To" it now shows "From". I don't need "From" as it's obvious it was sent from me! I've tried making changes by fiddling around with the columns, but unfortunately any changes I make in this Sent Items sub-folder will impact the Inbox which I don't want changed.
My main mail client is my office XP system, I also receive mail in home. So I select the 'Leave mail on Server' in my home XP system and it work fine. But after I upgrade my home PC to Vista system (I export my mail account for XP outlook express then inport it to my Vista system.) then it have problem - when the mail that I received in home Vista system Windows Mail then i no longer can receive in office mail client. Does anyone know is it the bug of Vista Windows Mail?

In order to navigate to my other folders, I have to click on Local Folders, when they are displayed in the message pane. I can then open any folder but cannot transfer files to the folder from the inbox.

View 4 Replies View RelatedOkay, here it goes. I first started using Windows Mail when I bought a new computer with Windows Vista back in January '09. I have four email accounts which I transferred over from an Outlook Express backup that I did before getting rid of my old computer. Windows Mail automatically set up a set of folders (Inbox, Outbox, Sent Items, Deleted Items, Drafts and Junk E-mail) for each account, each with a different color scheme, similar to Windows Live Mail. My hard drive crashed in June and I'm just now setting things up again with the new hard drive installed. I tried restoring my email accounts from a backup I had but now Windows Mail won't automatically create folders for each account. Instead, I had to set up separate Inbox folders with message rules for each account. However, all the accounts are still sharing the Outbox, Sent Items, Deleted Items, Drafts and Junk E-mail folders. Is there a way to set up a set of these folders for each account using message rules? And also, why did Windows Mail do that automatically for me the first time using it - could it be that the information came from an Outlook Express backup originally?
View 9 Replies View RelatedWhen using Windows Mail, I have a series of folders and sub-folders on the left side. It used to be that the sub-folders were always closed. Now, for some reason, the sub-folders are always open when I open up Windows Mail.
This is regardless of how I exit Windows Mail. In other words, when I'm all done with Windows Mail, I leave it with all sub-folders closed, but the next time when I open and use it again, I find that all the sub-folders are open again.
I cannot empty my deleted items folder in windows mail, can anyone suggest what the problem may be and how I can fix it.
View 7 Replies View RelatedEmails are sent and arrive in my Windows Mailbox fine. I then create a folder and drag them to that folder no problems. When I create a subfolder however, and start dragging emails into the subfolder I find that the 1st email is fine but every subsequent one has been corrupted. That is to say that in each case the email content is erased and replaced with a duplication of the 1st email in that subfolder. Go figure. The email titles don't change so if you open the subfolder you
wouldn't realise what has happened.
It is only when you open each successive email that it becomes apparent that the content of every email has become identical. *Windows Mail folders: 1 email duplicates itself over all others in a folder, thereby erasing email content of all others* This was previously posted by two others and I have exactly the same problem.
I wish to store my emails on a secure virtual drive I have created on my laptop. When I attempt this in Tools/Options/Maintainance/Store Location the window will only allow me to store the files on my main disk drives (C & D) how can I bypass this and store them to a secure drive?

I've gone onto Windows Mail with Vista and everything seem to be fine for the first month deleting mails en masse until now. I've got 299 items in my deleted folder and I can't empty it other than
by deleting one at a time.
Recently when logging on to my e-mail account I lost all my saved messages, the only one left were in the inbox. Now every time I log on Windows Mail generates a "Recovered Messages" folder filled with lots of empty folders and no messages.
