I wish to store my emails on a secure virtual drive I have created on my laptop. When I attempt this in Tools/Options/Maintainance/Store Location the window will only allow me to store the files on my main disk drives (C & D) how can I bypass this and store them to a secure drive?

However as soon as I cross into the LAN, the "ok" button to select a folder is grayed out. My goal is to have my XP desktop store my email and calendar items, and then access, view and update from my Vista laptop.
View 6 Replies View RelatedUnder *Inbox* in Windows Mail I have a dozen or so sub-folders titled by the sender such as "From NatWest 09", or "From Family & Friends 09". I _*HAD,*_ until last week, a similar numbers of sub-folders under Windows Mail *Sent*, such as "To NatWest 09" or "To Family & Friends 09". All the *Sent* file folders have now disappeared. I have accessed Tools, Options,Advanced, Maintenance, Store Folder, Store Location and Change, but cannot find any of the Sent folders anywhere. Can anyone please suggest a way to find and restore them?

(I have the ICO for that.) But how do you do that? I found a folder that has such a specific icon, but I wasn't successful getting it to work. My example used an icon inside an EXE. My icon is a stand-alone ICO.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI bought Ultimate w/SP-1 OEM 64 bit. I currently have Home Premium 64 bit. Can I just install Ultimate on top of Home Premium---or should I uninstall it? If I uninstall Home ver during installation of Ultimate, why would I need to keep the recovery copy of Home ver on "D" that came with the computer?
Shouldn't I get rid it and free up that partition for other use... then just make a complete computer recovery copy and store it on the USB external drive? I like what I have read a litte about the Maxtor One Touch backup--- but have never used it. I presume it will do a complete computer back up?
I haven't used Windows mail (only used to read news groups) in some time, when I went to use it this morning I received this error message; Folder could not be opened Windows mail could not open this folder. The possible causes are not the problem. I have 2 gig memory and it was working fine when I only had 1 gig of memory. Disk space, I have over 90 gig of free space.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI do not have Vista, or Windows Mail, or Hotmail, so I'm flying a bit blind here. I have an acquaintance who has Vista, but does all her emailing via Hotmail. Recently, she has had some problems with the Hotmail service, and she has asked me if it is possible for her to change to the mail program that comes with Vista. (Windows Mail?) The snag is, she would like to import the contents of of all her web-based Hotmail folders, (her email messages in other words), and her Hotmail contacts into whatever email program she changes to.
1. Would this be possible with Windows Mail, or does she need to write off all her Hotmail stuff and start again from scratch?
2. If it is not possible with Windows Mail, is it possible with any other email client, such as Thunderbird or similar?
In my previous email program of choice, Outlook Express, I used to beable to select the "to" function within the email message template and see a display of contacts that included the FOLDERS. In Windows Mail, the same action calls up ALL the contacts and NO folders. ALthough I can select multiple contacts from the Windows Contacts folder and through "action", install them in the "To" pane of an email message, I cannot jump from folder to folder to, for example, select contacts within another folder whom I wish to CC on the same message. The "Action" sequence always generates a new email template, posting any selected contact or contacts to the "To" pane.
I do not wish to create GROUPS and then go through the convoluted process of calling up the group in the "To" pane, and then deleting the ones I don't want. Needless to say, this feature was critical to my email flow and organization. Am I missing something? I have checked every forum and group I can. Others report the same issue without resolution. One forum individual said, "That's the way Windows Mail is".
Using Vista home premium with MSN Mail thur MSN Premium Subscription from
Qwest. I have been receiving error messages that I can not use the old mail
and that I will have to convert to a POP3 Protocol for Vista.
How do I sucessfuly transfer and convert all my existing email folders?
I do not want to change my Email Address or Destroy my History.
Being a fairly new Vista user from XP Pro, I'm having difficulty trying to change the dictionary in Windows Mail to English (Australian) or (UK). haven't found previous threads on this subject helpful as they are confusing. I would be grateful for assistance.

It's as if I pressed "alt+tab" at the same time as selecting "print." I don't know how to stop this switching and stay inside Windows Mail. This only happens when I print from Windows Mail. Printing in Firefox or Word 2007 causes no such problem.

When I changed it back, the Send/Receive window that shows incoming and outgoing mail popped up far to the left of the Windows Mail window, instead of right above it where it has always been. I re-started the computer, but that did not fix the problem. I want to get the Send/Receive window to pop up where it used to--it is currently nconvenient for viewing.

View 9 Replies View RelatedBy default, the Inbox shows the field "From" while the Sent folder shows "To". When I create subfolders for the Inbox (eg. Business, Important, Personal, etc) again it shows "From" as you'd expect.
However, if I try and create a subfolder for my Sent folder, instead of having the field "To" it now shows "From". I don't need "From" as it's obvious it was sent from me! I've tried making changes by fiddling around with the columns, but unfortunately any changes I make in this Sent Items sub-folder will impact the Inbox which I don't want changed.
The folder list is no longer displayed in the left hand pane in Windows Mail (apart from Local folders, Inbox and Newsgroups). In order to navigate to my other folders, I have to click on Local Folders, when they are displayed in the message pane. I can then open any folder but cannot transfer files to the folder from the inbox.
