is there a file size limit with windows mail? i have been sent files and they do not make it through to my email account with windows mail, but they are viewable at the yahoo server? is there a place where i can change the size of the files to be allowed to be received?

View 6 Replies View RelatedIs there a way, using IMAP, to limit Windows Mail to only deal with the most recent X messages? I have a GMail account with in the region of 24,000 messages but on a day to day basis, I'm only really interested in the most recent few hundred. Archiving isn't a solution as there are filters involved and an archived message with a filter applied is still in that filter, certain filters are up to thousands of messages as well. A most recent 200 messages option would be fantastic.

I have talked with Knology tech support and they say that the settings are correct and the problem is on the Windows Mail side.
When I open it WM I get no incoming and this is the message I get... Ett ok??nt fel har uppst??tt. My old laptop running Outlook is sitting on my desk now so I can work, but I need to get at the msgs in WM in my new computer. Why is it doing this and what do I need to do to have the dependibility I had w/ Outlook Express. And please don't tell me that I have to disable mail scanning functions. What M$ needs to do is enable it's software!
I do not know if there is any cause and effect relationship between these two but since Windows installed some 10 updates two days ago,Windows Mail is unable to get down from the e-mail server of my I S P even a few incoming messages and that too even if I keep the Windows Mail open for one hour. I can of course connect to the WebMail facility of my I S P and see those messages but they will not get into my InBox of WinMail. Strangely, whereas WinMail says it is downloading those 2 or 3 messages (each of size 2K to 5K) for an hour, it is able to download Newsgroup or Microsoft Community messages (some of them 10 times longer) in a jiffy. So the problem is not with volume of downloading. If I close WinMail after waiting for a long time and try to reopen it, Vista says "another instance of WinMail is downloading messages". I have no choice left then but to do Control-Alt-Delete and end the Process. I tried to ask Vista to restore my system to the day before the Windows updates were installed but that Restore failed, according to Vista. I have just had a test done and noticed that on my webmail from my provider there are 7 messages in the inbox. But when I download to Windows Mail, only 4 of the 7 actually come in!?
Is there a known bug or something (e.g. problem with the junkfilter?) There is no set rule from this sender and I have suspected since this several weeks now, so I would have noticed if a rule had misplaced them. Is there a logfile or something to look back on or a freeware tool I could download for diagnostics?
This is my last resort, otherwise I'll have to download thunderbird and neglect this unreliable Windows Mail programm.
I there any max. size for the Windows Mail? Presently I have 1.4 GB and around 11000 files and 400 folders in my Windows Mail and not surprising it's a little bit slow when starting. However it works fine and fast. Could I continue forever let's in a couple of years having 140 GB and 1000000 files and 10000 folders? Don't know how Windows Mail uses memory RAM and sidefiles when opened. Is that a limiting factor? I'm using Vista 32 bit with 2 GB RAM.

View 2 Replies View RelatedMy computer has three (3) physical hard drives. Two (2) of them with one or two logical partitions and the smallest drive without any partition. ALL partitions are listed in the "Virtual Memory Paging File" window.
The question is this; should I set just one (1) partition as my page file, or should I set ALL listed partitions (Main and Logicals) to be "Managed By System"? or; set all but one to "No paging file" and set the smallest drive for the "Virtual Memory Paging File"?
Drive 1 is 750 Gb partitioned in 200Gb (Main)/200Gb (Logical)/350Gb (Logical).
Drive 2 is 500 Gb partitioned in 250 (Main)/250Gb (Logical).
Drive 3 is 160 Gb not partinioned (no Logical).
Have found lots of information and suggestions on setting "Paging File Size" but none mentions anything about the logical partitions. I currently have them ALL set to "System Managed Size" and it reports a file size of 141000Mb allocated. I guess this is about 10% of the total disk capacities?
Does Windows live mail have the 2GB data file limitation that OE had or has it been improved? Did some Googling but can't locate an answer.

I've even changed the file save location and still the same. The only thing that works is when I click on download, instead of clicking save, I click open or run.

The problem is that this seems to lead to an ever-increasing mail file in Lotus. I am now at a 10 GB (!!) mail file, and it seems to be growing every time I use the desktop search. this not limited to Vista, btw, other people have the same problem under XP.
