Does anyone know how to put a cap on how many emails I can receive? In other words, if I were to want no more than 50 emails, how do I set that up? I have searched everywhere. When I had XP, it held a certain amount and then would bounce back to sender saying "mailbox full". Is this possible for Windows Mail on Vista Home Premium 64 bit?

View 4 Replies View Relatedi recently purchased a new laptop, which has Windows Live mail installed. I tried to set up an account using hotmail, which i could not do so i set up a live email address. each time i log on to my account i get the following error message
the host SMTP could not be found. please verify that you have entered the server correctly. I get the same message for the POP3 error message. so the questions are as follows:
1. what are the live server addresses?
2. where do i go in and change them?
how do I get my contacts in my incoming mail display as names rather than email addresses. The contacts are in my address book with their full names and some show as their full names and others just show the email address.

1: I can no longer activate an URL received in an incoming email directly but must copy the URL to the address bar in my Internet Explorer. This makes sense and I can live with that.
2: I discover that I can no longer open some of my word documents "created in an earlier version of Microsoft Office". The message refers to registry policy settings and the help system refers to a Microsoft knowledge base article 922850 that leads me nowhere useful.
How do I stop an email whilst the computer is trying to send it? Mail say it is sent, but I can see the icon on the tool bar of the message going out. I can tell it will be rejected, and sometimes it will try to send for several minutes, slowing down my internet. How do I just tell it to stop?

Today, however, I wanted to reply to a craigslist seller and found that my computer was trying to send the email with windows mail (and not sending!)- it was asking me questions like who my outgoing server and incoming server is - can anyone tell me what I need to do? Meanwhile, Vista is saving every email I have received since I bought this computer and went online. Why? I don't want them. I delete them after reading every day, even using the "shift-delete" permanent(?) method. Yet all the emails are stored in some "indexed location", taking up space. how to stop this constant storage by Vista? I have tried to delete the old emails but they never go away.

View 4 Replies View RelatedVista Home Prem/SP1 fully updated/WM. Emails from my bro-in-law have suddenly (since 16/06/08) been marked **SPAM** in the subject line. Since his domain is "freeserve.co.uk" perhaps this is triggering the subject renaming. Unlikely since other emaiIs from the same domain get through unblemished. Is this action likely to be through WM? Vista? or my email server? Bro-in-law is in my safe senders list. Any ideas how to stop this? A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools.
