Email Storage Stop This By Vista
Feb 4, 2010
I rarely want to save an email. When I do, I drag it into the "drafts" folder. Meanwhile, Vista is saving every email I have received since I bought this computer and went online. Why? I don't want them. I delete them after reading every day, even using the "shift-delete" permanent(?) method. Yet all the emails are stored in some "indexed location", taking up space. how to stop this constant storage by Vista? I have tried to delete the old emails but they never go away.

How do I stop an email whilst the computer is trying to send it? Mail say it is sent, but I can see the icon on the tool bar of the message going out. I can tell it will be rejected, and sometimes it will try to send for several minutes, slowing down my internet. How do I just tell it to stop?

Does anyone know how to put a cap on how many emails I can receive? In other words, if I were to want no more than 50 emails, how do I set that up? I have searched everywhere. When I had XP, it held a certain amount and then would bounce back to sender saying "mailbox full". Is this possible for Windows Mail on Vista Home Premium 64 bit?

Vista Home Prem/SP1 fully updated/WM. Emails from my bro-in-law have suddenly (since 16/06/08) been marked **SPAM** in the subject line. Since his domain is "freeserve.co.uk" perhaps this is triggering the subject renaming. Unlikely since other emaiIs from the same domain get through unblemished. Is this action likely to be through WM? Vista? or my email server? Bro-in-law is in my safe senders list. Any ideas how to stop this? A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools.

how do I stop vista eating all of my frikkin' RAM? I just don't understand where it's going! ReadyBoost, Volume Shadow Copy and Superfecth services are all disabled and prevented from running. My system has 3GB of RAM and I never have more than 8MB of free RAM left after just 20 minutes of using my PC. The largest RAM eater I have is Firefox, eating from 200 to 1024MB when using a lot of tabs. But where's the rest?

I delete these files SEVERAL TIMES A DAY with disk cleanup and then I find more of them in WINDOWS/Temp We are talking 60-70 GB of files that are clogging my system, not to mention how slowly it runs. If answered before, sorry, couldn't find an answer with the search.

It seems like everywhere you turn on the Web these days, there’s another article bad mouthing Microsoft Windows Vista and telling you to stay with Windows XP — arguing that XP is the greatest Microsoft OS ever. It also seems like there are just as many articles praising Windows 7 as our OS savior — and it’s barely even a twinkle in Bill Gate’s eye at this point. While reading these types of articles recently, I’ve begun to recall other points in the history of Microsoft operating systems and draw parallels with what happened then with what is happening today with Vista. In this edition of the Windows Vista Report, I’ll explore some of these parallels.

All other today's updates were fine except one (KB937287 failed) and then rebooted, but now KB937287 keeps showing up even after successful installs.

1 month from purchase my C drive was full all 68GB ??? no music, no videos. I use disk clean-up and a miserly 3mb are cleared. I search the drive for every file >1kb giving the total of all files hidden and not as 16GB. I try the computer tools/storage to ascertain why it???s full, disk rescan. I try number of things but nothing. The next day I reboot the laptop and as if by magic I have 52GB space capacity. 1 month I am at the time point 1GB spare capacity, I use TreeSize that tells me I have files totally 17GB. Why is Vista telling me I have no space left?

Does anyone have any recommendations on how to enable secure nightly backups to remote computers that are behind a firewall? Here's the scenario. Each member of my family owns at least one computer. We all have broadband access and plenty of available storage on our PC's. It would be really nice if we could leverage all of this available storage for a true backup solution in different locations.

This is really mysterious. I have an external 2.5" USB drive and for god's sake I cannot safely remove it from my Vista ultimate 64bit system! I copied something on it and I am quite sure, that safely remove is good to do, because I use such drives for some time already and I already lost some files when it was not done (my computer froze something)! Process explorer shows nothing when I search for my drive letter. I tried some unlocker utility, but it does not make it's context menu.maybe after restart it will :- I disabled indexing for fast search on this drive, but nothing changed.Maybe system restore?.

Problem ejecting USB Mass Storage Device - My Drive M: See my System Specs. I have just finished a session between my C: and M: Drives, well at least I thought so. When I tried to Safely Remove Hardware, I get the following Error window;
Questions;
Is there a way or shortcut that I can use to find which programs or windows are still using the Drive? Will potential problems result if I just do a 'hard' close-down?, ie >Start>Switch Off button ='Closes all open Programs, Shuts down Windows, turns off Computer'. Will the same apply if I do a >Start>Restart, close-down and restart procedure? I have attempted to Safely Remove Drive M: via the Icon in the Notification Tray, and through Device Manager, but the results as shown above are the same. I have a "storage" drive (seagate sata 3.0gb, 320gb) with lots of files which was previously used (as a storage drive) with my xp pro 32 install, and after that, with my linux system via fuse+ntfs-3g. This drive is mountable in linux still, and all files appear to be intact. I would like to share this storage drive between my dual boot Vista
Ultimate/Debian Etch (both 64) system, but if it is connected while trying to boot vista, vista will stop after the "loading" screen, and rest eternally on a black screen, before any welcome logo or logon screen.Without this drive connected, vista boots fine. Without my linux drive connected, and with the storage drive connected, vista still will not boot. Vista even sees my linux drive and all its partitions, but will not boot
with the storage drive attached. I've tried booting and *then* connecting the drive, but it doesn't show up anywhere at all (my computer, device manager, disk management).I've searched EVERYWHERE for the last several months (ever since i bought vista near the end of september '07) and have found absolutely Zero clues as to why this is happening or how to fix it.

I'm trying to use a 4G USB storage for transferring files from an XP platform to a Vista platform. I'm finding something very funny. I copy the files to the storage (and I can see and open them on the XP machine). Than I put the USB storage on the Vista machine. I can see again the files but I cannot open them (the files seem to be corrupted). Finally I put the USB storage on the XP and I see that the files are corrupted. It looks like Vista has corrupted my files. I'm using the same USB storage for transferring files between XP machines without any problem.
