how do I stop vista eating all of my frikkin' RAM? I just don't understand where it's going! ReadyBoost, Volume Shadow Copy and Superfecth services are all disabled and prevented from running. My system has 3GB of RAM and I never have more than 8MB of free RAM left after just 20 minutes of using my PC. The largest RAM eater I have is Firefox, eating from 200 to 1024MB when using a lot of tabs. But where's the rest?
View 9 RepliesI've just got a new notebook and installed bitcomet to download some files. I don't know if it's got anything to do with the program but somehow once in a while when i click into my computer, i found out that every time i check it there's 1GB less space in my drive. i thought it was bitcomet's problem so i deleted it to see if my guess was right but then after deleting i lost another 1 GB to whatever is doing this. Presumably there shouldnt be any virus since i've only been using this computer for a few days and i performed a few scans already.

View 4 Replies View RelatedSeverl weeks ago, I got a warning that there was no more space on C:,my system partition. Properties showed 0 free space. I tracked down the problem to a file named mnc82DB.tmp, which was about 50GB. It was in the folder usersownerappdatalocal emp. I have no idea where it came from and Google has no entries if I search on that file name.
Trying to delete it fails, saying that it is open in another program.
It's very annoying sice if I try to print something I will lose if I reboot, it won't do
it (0 free space). Another weirdness is that if I try to type something into the Firefox Goggle engine, the letters are entered in reverse order.
I rarely want to save an email. When I do, I drag it into the "drafts" folder. Meanwhile, Vista is saving every email I have received since I bought this computer and went online. Why? I don't want them. I delete them after reading every day, even using the "shift-delete" permanent(?) method. Yet all the emails are stored in some "indexed location", taking up space. how to stop this constant storage by Vista? I have tried to delete the old emails but they never go away.

Is anyone else having problems installing this speific KB937287 update? I am unable to get it to stop showing up in my 64-bit Vista UE's Windows Update even though it was a success. All other today's updates were fine except one (KB937287 failed) and then rebooted, but now KB937287 keeps showing up even after successful installs.

Whenever I try to go to GMAIL the tab starts rapidly moving from "gmail"to "connecting" to "redirecting", and this moves very fast and continues until I manage to re start. How can I fix this ? I created a new user and I can Access GMAIL there but it's a pain to switch users just to access mail.info: vista 32 bit, google home page, gmail is default.

I have disabled Superfetch, Indexing and Defrag just to name a few in a vain attempt to track down why this happens. It appears to be normal with some but not all Vista installations. Before Vista came along this sort of activity would ring alarm bells. The System and Performance monitor shows it is updating system files but why does it need to do it 100% of the time. Hard drives are NOT built with a 100% duty cycle in mind. I need some knowledgable person who knows the complete answer to this problem.

In my bios i do not have the drives turned on to RAID i just have them in their naitive modes. I installed Vista and now it set up a RAID 1 all by itself. Has my C Drive as MIRROR[0][2] SCSI Disk Device. Now i want to stop this so i can use the other drive. Can i do this with out a reinstall? Or what would happen if i whipped on drive then plugged it back in , would this clear the other as well?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a new Dell with Windows Vista Business installed. I set it up to connect to the network printers and everything was fully operational. I was printing fine on 2/15/08. I came into work this morning 2/19/08 and when I try to print I get a message saying unable to print. I get the same message with 2 different canon printers and 1 hp laserjet printer. I tried removing the printer and reinstalling it and there was no change. I installed it locally and there was no change. I stopped and restarted the print spooler and there was no change. I cannot even print a test page.
