Could Not Register A Dll

May 5, 2008

I have an appcation that includes a dll I have written and which is of interest to other application makers. One of them has written an MS Access database application using VBA, he wants to use my dll and approached me telling me that he could not "register" this dll so he could not call it from his application.

I do not know anything about registering dll modules, my installation program (INNO) simply installs them to the windowssystem folder and that's it. (I have wondered whether to install to system or to system32, but as long as system works I'm happy about using that) BTW. My application is written entirely in Delphi and all my dll functions use standard linkage, exactly the same as is used for Windows API functions.

Doesn't Allow Merge :: Need To Register A Key

Jun 27, 2009

I've got the Home Premium 64-bit edition and I need to enter a registration key for my password manager. Unfortunately this version of Vista doesn't allow me to do a merge, although I did find a way to have a look at the registry itself yesterday. Is there a way around this? I'd really like to get this registered and be able to use my password manager.

Why After SP-1 Is It Telling Me I Have To Register My Copy Of Vist

Mar 23, 2008

I already registered Vista when I got it directly from Microsoft as part of the WFP and there has been no change to the hardware, so why is it telling me there is? I tried to register it again and it's telling me that the product key is already in use. I tried to chat with an agent, but their chatware sucks. I send two messages, which they receive then it dies. Twice I tried.

System Files, Remaining Windows Files

Because of a mistake I made while installing Vista, I wound up with the system files (about 1.6 Gig) on one small D: drive while all of the remaining Windows files (over 50 Gig) on the large C: drive. I now want to remove the D: drive and replace it with a large one. How do I move the system files to the C: drive?

Having Two Copies Of Vista On One Computer: Install Vista On The Smaller Drive, Boot With That, And Access Files On The Other Drive

Dec 25, 2008

Right now I have a single 640 gig HDD that everything's on. I've got a laptop too that I'm gonna be taking out on rotations eventually. I wanted to get a new smaller (250GB) HDD and put my Vista on that, so my 640 will be data only (then I could take it with me in an external enclosure and leave the desktop for my mom to use til I come back and collect it). I was gonna DBAN the 640, but I wanted to get the data off of it first- about 170 GB of stuff that I'd rather not lose.

My question is-

Can I install Vista on the smaller drive, boot with that, and access files on the other drive? Would it work if there's another Vista running on the other drive? (both SATA).

"Vista Will Not Play MPEG Or MP3 Files If Vista Thinks They Are Illegal Downloads"

Feb 11, 2008

I was discussing Vista with a few friends over on a Linux website. They say: Vista will not play MPEG or MP3 files if Vista thinks they are illegal downloads. Vista will not allow you to store downloaded music. Vista calls home every day to tell MS what programs, keystrokes and internet sites you use. Vista will not allow you to Copy a DVD for your own home use as a backup. Is any of this true? I have yet to have any problems. I do value what little privacy I can get so if Vista calls home everyday that's crap...

Vista SP1 Help Files

Mar 28, 2008

Windows Vista SP1 stand-alone packages do not contain the updated Windows Vista SP1 Help files. The updated Windows Vista Help file packages are named "Update for Help Files."

These files are packaged separately for each language. The updated Help files have been excluded from the stand-alone SP1 packages to reduce the size of the packages. However, the updated Windows Vista Help files are contained in the retail and OEM versions of Windows Vista that include SP1. Therefore, if you perform a clean installation of a version of Windows Vista that includes SP1, you do not have to add an updated Help file....

I would like to create 2 paging files, one on C: and the other on an eSata external drive. I've heard 2 sides of how. One to let the computer decide (System Managed Size) on both drives, and the other to have a static page file on both as to eliminate fragmentation. System Managed or a Static pagefile? And if a static, how large on both. I have 4G Ram?

Unable To Open Zip Files In Vista

This one may not be AV related so thought I would ask here.

I have been unzipping files in Vista with no problem, after the download of AVG 9 I am unable to open them.

When I right click on the file I do not get Extract all in the list.

I do not know which is the program that opens zip files within Vista and so I am unable to tell it which program to Open with.
