View 5 RepliesOn 85% of the time I turn the computer on I do not get connected to my ISP. I have Linksys cable modem and a Linksys router. My second computer on the router (an XP) has no problem login on to the system. What I have to do (VISTA machine) each time is do a ???Diagnose and repair???. It quickly wants to get a new IP address and after I continue in about 45 seconds everything is working fine. Doing some research I found what looks like the problem that I have. I have done regedit once before so felt I could at least take a look and see if the article was correct. The help article I found was. Article ID:928233? Windows Vista cannot obtain an IP address from certain routers or from certain non-Microsoft DHCP servers?
I got to the end portion of step 2 Locate and then click the following registry subkey: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetServicesTcpipParametersInterfaces{GUID} In this registry path, click the (GUID) subkey that corresponds to the network adapter that is connected to the network.? Here is what I found and what I think is the problem. I never get to {GUID}. Instead of {GUID} I get two lines of what looks like garbage {3a539854-6a70-11db-887c-806e6fe6963}, and {BE55FD8E-E60F-48EB-ABE5-63232B0C1F72} How or where do I get the right values to replace the garbage (assuming that is my problem)?
I wonder if someone could tell me this, is it possible for someone to track you down via WLM? I know it uses proxy servers for the communication and that if someone sends a file that it is possible to make a connection that way. However the new WLM has a picture sharing thing where the picture just pops up rather than it being copied to your computer...is it possible to obtain the other persons IP from any part of the new WLM?
MY friend has given me his sims 2 game for me to install and play on my computer. BUT I am 110% sure that his computer is loaded up with tons of nasty trojans, viruses and more. Could I get some of those viruses if I play the sims 2 on my computer? Or will I not because commercially pressed disks are only readable?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have an appcation that includes a dll I have written and which is of interest to other application makers. One of them has written an MS Access database application using VBA, he wants to use my dll and approached me telling me that he could not "register" this dll so he could not call it from his application.
I do not know anything about registering dll modules, my installation program (INNO) simply installs them to the windowssystem folder and that's it. (I have wondered whether to install to system or to system32, but as long as system works I'm happy about using that) BTW. My application is written entirely in Delphi and all my dll functions use standard linkage, exactly the same as is used for Windows API functions.
When I run some programs, I get an error that I don't have this file. I've tried downloading it, putting it in my system32 folder, and regestering it, but I can't regester it because its a 32bit file, and im running on 64bit.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI've got the Home Premium 64-bit edition and I need to enter a registration key for my password manager. Unfortunately this version of Vista doesn't allow me to do a merge, although I did find a way to have a look at the registry itself yesterday. Is there a way around this? I'd really like to get this registered and be able to use my password manager.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI already registered Vista when I got it directly from Microsoft as part of the WFP and there has been no change to the hardware, so why is it telling me there is? I tried to register it again and it's telling me that the product key is already in use. I tried to chat with an agent, but their chatware sucks. I send two messages, which they receive then it dies. Twice I tried.

And in the end i got 4 error screens, saying "Unexpected error;quitting". After thal all errors, setup finishes saying installation successful. Is it OS problem or is it FEA Algor installation problem. By the way, i tried to install this program on other computer with the same specification and got same errors. Installtion repair does not work too.

View 5 Replies View Relatedive been having problems with the tilde key on my Asus laptop. at first it was that it didint work at all, in games, in microsoft works, or notepad. i went searching online and disabled the driver for the eHome ir receiver (even though i dont own an ir receivers). after that i was able to use the tild key only outside of games. but heres the strange part, if i press the tild key quickly as if i were typing normaly, it dose not register. in order to use it i have to hold down the tilde key for about 1-2 seconds before it would spit out a stream of "````````````". then i could delete up to the first one. this is true for the laptops keyboard, and a wired dell keyboard i connected using usb.........

View 5 Replies View Relatedin Window XP, i used to be able to select full address to be displayed in the address bar. But for Window Vista, I could not find the way to do it. e.g. instead of showing D:Document, i want to show \sapsgsmapsnap01document. I want to send the link to my colleague to access directly to destination folder.
View 9 Replies View RelatedWhenever i create a new email by click "To" to open up my address book for selecting any email address, or when i use "reply all" and want to add in some more email address from the address book, the computer start to run and till it stuck, so the only choice for me is to end this task and type email address instead of selecting email address from address book.
i thought that this is because i got too many email address, thus i deleted most of it and now only got 700 email address inside my address book, i just can not understand that when outlook express can take more than 3000 email address book, but windows mail can not take about 700 email address book. And somemore, this email address book is just useless for me, because whenever i want to use the address book, the windows mail is going to hang... and the only choice is to go to task manager, end this task and restart my windows mail.
Is it possible to obtain a comprehensive listing of servers and interpreters that are a normal part of the Windows Vista Operating System? These are the only kinds of programs I expect the Security updates to be fixing.
Servers = Programs included with the OS which accepts commands from the Internet or LAN external to My Computer. Interpreters = Programs which will execute any kind of source code whatsoever like HyperTextMarkUpLanguage HTML or Basic or C+ or Fortran or whatever.
I know of no other kinds of programs unless you can tell me now that may work ndependent of User Control. If I could ID these rouge programs running in the background it would be better than the security updates themselves.
Need directions to remove a former friend's email address from my address bar. Whenever I create a message to someone with an address starting with the same first letter, his email address also shows up.

View 9 Replies View RelatedHaving steadily used Win 7 since the first public I entirely sympathize with those who label it Vista SP3.It is not significantly faster than Vista 64 SP2 on the same hardware and uses the same drivers. It hiccoughs over many of the same obstacles. When a device manufacturer, for example Canon, markets a "new printer" but it uses the same inks as prior generation printers, Canon is doing nothing more than selling the the old print engine in a new box.The reason Win 7 came out so "fast" by Microsoft standards is that mostly they just grafted a tweaked UI onto Vista SP2.Vista SP2 is the engine that runs Win 7: new or old/new?

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have tried to find the windows 7 Newsgroup in this list of Newsgroup where this one on Vista is, but I do not get a hit. Is there one in this group that I can add to my list and use to ask some questions?
Windows Vista has a lot of pretty and nice graphics, and pretty colors, etc, but it is very difficult to find some thing there when you are lost and the folder systems is extremely complicated sometimes. I use Vista now, have had it for about two years now, and I still have difficulty finding the logic of the folder system sometimes. I don't think that my former Windows XP was so complicated (do people agree?) Is the new Windows 7 as complicated as Vista? (I do not have Windows 7 yet).
Why does Vista keep automatically unsubscribing me from this newsgroup? I am fully convinced that Vista is too unstable for use in any serious and/or critical applications. Having said that I still believe it is not far short of miraculous when compared to computing operations of thirty years ago.
