View 9 RepliesI subscribed to several newsgroups and retrieved the posts locally. It seems Windows Mail onlly retrieves part of the newsgroup posts. I cannot seem to find where I may configure to make it display all the posts which I can see via Web page. For example, I cannot see posts earlier than August, 2008.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have tried on two pcs (I only have vista pcs now) with two different user accounts but with no success the posts have never been downloaded or displayed or deleted, they just dont exist as far as mail is concerned I have downloaded thunderbird and the messages appear as they should. I dont like thunderbird, I find it difficult and unintuitive, but at least it works
View 9 Replies View RelatedIf you see rantings from this retard, please ignore them. He's been posting ten or more infantile posts every day on here for months. Replies just fuel him to post more idiotic rubbish. Ignore the fool, he'll get bored and go away. The old a age applies here, DON'T FEED THE TROLL!!
View 5 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to get new post just from a particular forum? Say, if I wanted to only see the new posts in Tutorials or Software or whatever?
View 8 Replies View RelatedThis is something that has happened recently. If I try to post all I see is the reply (eg "Re: .......) and not my original post. Don't know why Vista Mail has started doing this.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI subscribe to two news servers in Windows Mail - one the MS News server and one a non-MS news server. The MS News server exhibits certain weird behaviour in that several groups constantly list a small number of messages not downloaded, no matter what I do, whether I mark all read, or use the catch-up function, or Get the next 300 headers. Also the "Show Replies to my posts" function goes awry - if I set the view to that, it works on the first group I set it on, but if I go down through the group list, without changing the View from that, WM does NOT display replies to my posts, I have to uncheck it and re-check it for each group.
View 4 Replies View RelatedWhenever I sync my newsgroups with Win Mail, I get a number next to the ng, i.e.. microsoft.public.pocketpc (6) even though I have used the "catch-up" function then delete but that still shows up. Is there a file in appdata that I can delete to get rid of it?
View 6 Replies View RelatedUsing Windows Mail which was working fine this morning. Installed the recommended MS updates this afternoon, WM started running very slowly (taking 3-5 seconds to change message when clicked) now every e-mail and newsgroup message shows name and subject, but the content is completely blank. I can open them up, and the content is stored as an attachment, eg AT000223.html AT000223.txt, which I then have to save (if I click either attachment, I get "file not found" error), then I can open it up and read the mail. I have read and tried the fixes where I changed the "read messages in plain text" option, and the encoding options, still the same. I've done the maintenance on the folders, I've also emptied the temporary Internet files as a forum, still nothing.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI can't empty my folder deleted messages. Following message appears: unknown error occurs.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI cant delete the deleted items from the deleted folder. The message UNKNOWN ERROR COMES UP.Any ideas how to deal with it?
View 5 Replies View RelatedHow can I stop my deleted items folder being deleted when I shut down windows mail? I would rather keep the messages for a while before I delete the folder.
View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen I am reading posts in this and some other discussion groups, there are frequent posts from someone called "Unknown". When I click on the post, it is blank, no message. Sometimes I see that others have replied to such posts and I can open the replies, which are not blank. Could some kind person explain to me what is happening? Have the original messages been pulled by some hidden moderator?
View 6 Replies View RelatedIt appears this newsgroup is no longer the place to seek useful answers to Vista questions. Could someone suggest another group that actually conducts itself in a professional manner?
View 9 Replies View RelatedWhere are the Windows 7 newsgroups? We have reviewed all the newsgroups only to find one for about any version of Windows except Windows 7. Are there no Windows 7 newsgroups?
View 9 Replies View RelatedFrom my Vista Windows Mail client, I suddenly cant access the news.virginmedia.com server anylonger. I get an 480 authentication required message. Code 800ccca2. My email and internet access works fine.
View 9 Replies View RelatedHaving steadily used Win 7 since the first public I entirely sympathize with those who label it Vista SP3.It is not significantly faster than Vista 64 SP2 on the same hardware and uses the same drivers. It hiccoughs over many of the same obstacles. When a device manufacturer, for example Canon, markets a "new printer" but it uses the same inks as prior generation printers, Canon is doing nothing more than selling the the old print engine in a new box.The reason Win 7 came out so "fast" by Microsoft standards is that mostly they just grafted a tweaked UI onto Vista SP2.Vista SP2 is the engine that runs Win 7: new or old/new?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI think it safe to say at this point as people are getting Windows 7 today and its full rollout will be tomorrow, and still no windows 7 newsgroup, that there will not be one.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have tried to find the windows 7 Newsgroup in this list of Newsgroup where this one on Vista is, but I do not get a hit. Is there one in this group that I can add to my list and use to ask some questions?
Windows Vista has a lot of pretty and nice graphics, and pretty colors, etc, but it is very difficult to find some thing there when you are lost and the folder systems is extremely complicated sometimes. I use Vista now, have had it for about two years now, and I still have difficulty finding the logic of the folder system sometimes. I don't think that my former Windows XP was so complicated (do people agree?) Is the new Windows 7 as complicated as Vista? (I do not have Windows 7 yet).
Why does Vista keep automatically unsubscribing me from this newsgroup? I am fully convinced that Vista is too unstable for use in any serious and/or critical applications. Having said that I still believe it is not far short of miraculous when compared to computing operations of thirty years ago.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI am looking for the version 7 newsgroup. i am unable to look @ my c drive. i get the msg 'assess denied'. so what did i do wrong? how do i get access?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI've been using Windows Mail for 18 months without any significant problems.
Now, when I delete an email from my "Inbox," it does NOT appear in my "Deleted Items" folder. It just seems to disappear. I did read many of the earlier posts and have tried the suggestions. I've gone to Tools>Options>Advanced>Maintenance - the "Empty messages from the Deleted Items folder on exit" is NOT checked. I've also gone to Current View "Show all messages" - that's identified/checked. Is there something else that I can do? I'd appreciate any suggestions. This is the first time I've used
the Discussion Group, so I hope that I'm doing this correctly.
When I try to reply to a group, I got a message 'The Message could not be sent. No sender was specified. Please check your News Account information.'

I can't find any newsgroup dealing with Windows 7, are there any? I need to ask a couple of questions in regards XP Mode, if there aren't any newsgroups for Windows 7 what would be the next best place
View 9 Replies View RelatedI am trying to find the windows 7 news groups as they suit my questions can someone please point to them?
View 9 Replies View RelatedIs there an equivalent newsgroup for Windows7
View 9 Replies View RelatedNewsgroup info about windows 7. There is a problem with the alt.windows7.general newgroups. I don't think it is named correctly. That is why some news severs are not caring this. I think. Here is my new server response. the idea is that there's discussion in alt.config, a proper newsgroup charter is written, there's agreement on the actual name (alt.config discussed alt.os.windows-7 last week), and someone sends a control message. This is necessary to ensure adequate interest and agreement.
