Multi Card Reader Attached To MB, Wanted To Format Disk

I just installed a new MB (Biostar MCP6P M2+) and CPU AMD 64 x2 Brisbane 4200+ 2.2ghz. overclocked to 2.8ghz. and installed Vista x64 Premium OS. I was trying to import some pictures into Picasa from an SD card via a multi card reader on my Canon MP130 printer and the program froze. I shut it down. When I tried to use my multi card reader attached to the MB it wanted to format my disk??? is this because I am using a x64 system? After a few more attempts my entire system froze. I hard rebooted and when the POST comes up it only shows the CPU info and stops?
I'm having trouble getting my Vista Ultimate desktop to see the XP machines and vice versa. The XPs see each other fine. I'll copy and paste all = the info I'm sure you'll need below=20 but let me say right now that the browstat wouldn't run on the Vista PC. When I opened to text file it was empty. Also, you'll notice in the ipconfig that it says NetBios over TCPIP is disable but it's not. I = have no=20 idea why it says disabled (see pic)Thisis gonna be lengthy so please forgive me. No firewalls are installed = and the one in Windows has been disabled.................
I have three messages in my inbox that I can not delete. A box saying unknown error pops up when I try. I can delete the rest of them without any problem.
I don't know if I got a virus or not. I don't think so, I ran a virus scan completely twice. but check it anyway.I was trying to get a photo program to do something, don't even remember what now, and it went crazy. It added a .lnk to every program. I mean every one. It wouldn't even show the desktop on a reboot until I removed it. It sent everything to the internet browser where of course it wouldn't run. I can't get rid of it. I can remove a program and reload it, make a shortcut and the thing adds a .lnk to the shortcut I delete the .lnk and it wants an association. I can assign it one but it requires it every time. There seems to be no way to check a "use this association every time." It's grayed out. It scattered all the desktop icons all over the desktop and changed the icon pictures all to blank. I have a program called Iconord that will restore the arrangement of the icons and it even failed.I have tried system recalls to no avail. Just getting email to work again took a long time and I still have to assign it an association
About 2 days ago, my internal sd card reader disappeared from vista. Until this time it works perfectly ( it was accessable via "computer" as removable drives ) but after formatting my system and performing Windows updates, it's gone. Usb drive on card reader still works but sd card slot not responding. I've already tried reinstalling drivers, also installing a clean Vista but nothing changed. And also tried activating removable drives management from Vista options.
I think hardware is still ok but how can i use it again ?
the problem is with card reader. System VISTA HOME PTEMIUM 32 bit. I fight with this problem few weeks. Manufacture is Texas oinstruments - PCI XX12. I foun some information at webside, make installation of different drivers version: 2.00.6, 2.00.7, 2.00.9, 2.0018. but it still dosn't solve my problem. I can't read any SD - cards. There is information: please format the card. I made also changes at regedit: from 16 to 1 but still the same problem. Maybe it's IRQ problem?
i have the same problem with my p.c. i have a toshiba satellite a135 running vista 32 bit home premium,when i plug in lexar 1 mb sd card into the built in card reader of course windows does not recognize the card.
I recently bought a Canon Rebel xti, and also a 2GB memory card along with it. I also got a Digital Concepts 21 in 1 card reader. Cin the card to the reader an error pops up saying the file doesn't have a program associated to it and i need to create one in the set associations control panel. I know where the set associations panel is, but i don't know how to actually associate a program to the reader.
I am using an HP a1700n with Vista Home Premium. I cannot for the life of me figure out why my SD card reader will not read any cards. All of my drivers are up-to-date (I believe... I'm not sure exactly which device I am looking for in device manager). I downloaded and installed what I was told might be a fix (Texas Instruments PCIxx 20), to no avail. I would hate to have to buy an external card reader when I have a 9-in-1 built-in... and assuming I did, if this is a Vista problem, no guarantee even that would work
Just installed sp1 all is working great except my internal USB2.0 Card reader. it isn't being detected. My portable USB Card Reader works fine when I plug it in
I have a Dell Inspiron 530 running Vista Home Premium x64 SP2.It has an internal card reader,a TEAC CA-200,that connects internally to the front USB connector on the motherboard.When the reader works,it shows up at four drive letters in Windows Explorer. The problem is that it doesn't work.When I first boot the PC the drives show up. After plugging in and ejecting a memory card a few times,all the drive letters go away and when I try plugging in a memory card it occasionally gives me a USB Error message that talks about a missing driver.It lists six USB ports with one listed as unknown - driver missing.If I open the case and unplug and re-plug the reader cable, the drives are all found again.Then in short order they'll disappear again.I've worked with Dell tech support and they've replaced the reader and its cable with no improvement.I've updated the chipset drivers with no improvement.Dell's last suggestion was to reinstall Windows from scratch. Doing a Google search for "dell card reader not recognized"finds a LOT of reports of this problem and I've already tried the suggested fixes. Unless you have the solution,I can see only two options going forward.Pretend the reader isn't there and get an external card reader,or get an internal card reader that uses a standard USB cable to plug into an available port on an added USB card.
I have a Vista 64 OS on an HP m9100z computer. It has an internal card reader. The reader used to work fine. But now (have live update on) the Card reader does not work properly. The reader is detected but with the yellow warning sign. When I plug in a card it does not show up in the drives and the warning sign would still be displayed. Removing the drivers and rebooting did not change the issue. But if I remove the driver and plug in a card and redetect or reboot while the card is in the reader it works properly. Any idea what is happening. The reader is an HP 10 in 1 reader.
I have to set up a smart card reader on Vista Home Premium 64 bit for a user, but cannot get it to be recognized. It is an SCR331, about 6 years old. I have downloaded Vista64 drivers from SCMMicro but though the card reader will work on an XP machine, it will not work on Vist64. When I install it, or reboot and it detects new hardware, and tell it where I downloaded the drivers it says this folder does not contain the necessary drivers. If I look at the 32bit drivers online it says there is a firmware upgrade but I do not want to apply that and have the reader stop working on the XP machine as well.
I have a built in sd card reader in my Rizeon laptop which appears in device manager as working ok and most upto date driver installed. It also appears in the safely remove device icon. However nothing appears in my computer and I cannot find any way to access the drive. I have windows vista home premium installed fully updated. I suspect the problem could be something to do with windows vista. Any one else come across the same problem?
I have a Texas Instruments Card Reader DRIVER:[ PCIxx12 Integrated FlashMedia Controller Driver (64-BIT)], but I cannot access SD CARDS. When I put my 2GB SD Card in it asks me to format, but when I try to format it, It says It cannot format, thus making the card useless.
I have been trying to format an SD card into FAT32 so that I can use it in my new Karaoke machine. When right clicking on the directory and choosing format, it show the FAT32 but does not complete when I click on it coming up with the error message 'cannot complete the format'. I have also tried this on my laptop which runs XP but the same message comes up. I have checked and the lock for writing is not on. Does anyone have any idea how to go about this. A friend said to use the compatability wizard to do this but on looking at this I still do not know what to do
I have tried to format my computer, first I tried by just inserting the disc, no luck, then I tried booting it from the disc, no luck then I tried going into computer management right clicking my c drive but the format option is no available. I have evn tried phoneing Microsoft but they want $80.00. Finally I thought I would format it by using my XP disc, installing XP and then upgrading to put vista back on the system but it won't let me do that either. I desperately want to format my computer
Vista Home Premium. I have no third-party CD/DVD recording software on the machine. Every time I go to burn files to a CDR, CDRW, DVD R or DVDRW using the Windows burning function it wants to format the disk. If I cancel the format, then the burn is not proceeded with. XP does not do this. How do I stop this infuriating behaviour?
i have a sata hard drive running windows vista 32 business. how would i format the hard drive completely and start again? i did a reinstall last weekend but it would not give me the option for format from the DVD, it just gave me a "windows.old" folder which wasn't really what i wanted.
It's my new Sony ebook reader. It works fine on my old XP pc but not my Vista Home Premium laptop. I don't know how reformatting an actual reader would affect the device since every one at the Sony forum has only reformat their memory from the actual reader that has a reformat memory, you lose your books but all the Sony applications that runs the reader are still intact. Since I got this error, I've reformatted via the actual reader and still every time I plug my reader in my USB port, I get this error. I'm trying to format some CD-RW disks to make my backup disks and only once out of about 10 tries have I been successful. I keep getting a message that says "windows is unable to format disk"
I've basically screwed up documents and important stuff so i need help reinstalling vista from the dvd, Formatting the hard drive. My M/B is a ga-p35-ds3l and i cant use my keyboard if the shut down is forced it auto chooses.
I was trying to install Fedora 10 (linux distro) but I had accidentally changed settings for both hard drives.. Meaning I formatted both hard drives.. and when the installation failed, I had the error "no operating system found"
I had a C:/ drive and an X:/ drive.. I can't see my C:/ drive.. but in CMD I'm using X:/ but it was formatted so.. hehe.. no operating system..

I just delete to partitions from disk 0.. So I have 153 Gb free space.. But Windows install says "Windows is unable to find system volume that meets its criteria for installation" ?
Anyone have any experience with Yamicsoft Vista Manager for x64? It seems to do quite a bit, but like anything that tweaks stuff. . . well, I just want some educated opinions before I spend my money on it.
I have bought a second hand laptop with windows vista business installed. There is a sticker on the bottom of the laptop showing the installed windows is a genius one. But part of the label gets wore out. I want to make format the hard disk and do a clean re-installation of vista again. However, I am so worry that if I miss the serial number, I would be stuck in the middle of the process.
I have a new Vista Ultimate OS and put an Hitachi 320Gig Hard drive in the extra slot. It shows up in Computer Management disk drives along with the WDC drive that came with. Populating the drive shows Disk: Disk 1 Type: Dynamic ond online..If I go to ..Storage and Disk Managment Disk 1 shows up as unallocated.I tried to format disk 1 /FS:NTFS /V:dorathy to no avail. How do I get Vista to recongnize this dirve????
i just bought My Book Essential 1 TB today... and when i got home i plug it and it works just fine but its bothering me that the HDD type is FAT32 .. so i format it and try to change it to NTFS.. but somethings happen and boom the electric in my apartment was down... and so when the electric back i want to format it again but i can't... there drive is detected but with no space detail... it says "Windows can't format Drive H: - Check to see that the disk and drive are connected properly, make sure that the disk is not read-only, and then try again.
For more information, search Help for read-only files and how to change them" when i open the Disk Management from (My COmputer > Manage) it seems it's already a volume.. but the weird thing there is no space detail.. and i cant erase the volume ... i've tried using diskpart but i can't do nothing because there is no volume and i can't erase the disk... no luck with fsutil cause its not ntfs... I havent tried 3rd party software and i havent tried it on other computer (don't have other computer right now) and WDC didnt give live cd for formatting because all of them was in the drive... though i already redownload it but the program is useless..
I am writing because i have an external 500Gig Western Digital HDD that I have been using for months now...it has not been exposed to extreme temperatures, banged around or overused in any way. I plugged it in today and it showed up under "My Computer" as Local Disk(F: ).
Then a message came up stating "You need to format the disk in drive F: before you can use it." Next it asks if i want to format now, and i can choose Format, or Cancel. I am not sure if this is some sort of driver issue, something more serious with the computer, or if this is something with this drive.
Have my system built and everything seems ok. Post is good with no errors. Only (1) HDD and DVD connected now. During windows Vista 64 installation I eventually get the message "WINDOWS COULD NOT FORMAT A PARTITION ON DISK 0. THE ERROR OCCURRED WHILE PREPARING THE PARTION SELECTED FOR INSTALLATION. ERROR CODE 0x80070057". Do I need to update BIOS? HDD & DVD/CD show in BIOS as SATA 1 & SATA 2 by there names. So they are being recognized.
it only happens when sending pictures from my work email addy to my home computer. RE: Emailng jpg pix 100kb or less from work that has Windows 2000 with Outlook 2003 to my personal email addresses on my home computer (Vista) with Comcast & Yahoo.If I email pictures from my work email addy (either attached or inserted into the email body) to my personal email addy and hope to see them on my home computer using Windows Mail with Comcast, the email comes in without the attached or inserted picture and there is no message that there was a problem. I made sure I'm on the safe list and not on the blocked list. When I am at work and open Comcast email on the internet, the attachments are with the emails and open fine. When I am at home and open Comcast email on the internet instead of via Windows Mail, there are no attached or inserted pictures. When at home, the same emails with attached photos sent to my Yahoo email are delivered and open fine.
