I've read several comments regarding the problem I have found about using windows vista mail, all with the same result - no useful solution. Having just moved from Outlook Express, I am accustomed to using sub folders under contacts. I set up subfolders in Vista contacts but they do not show up when I wish to forward an email using "To:" to select members of a folder, ie "family"
How inconvenient to have to search through all 300 or so addresses to find the 5 or 6 I want to forward to. "Family" is mixed in with all the rest. Creating a group is inappropriate when I do not want to send to ALL addresses in a group. Any news on a correction to this problem?
Or, is it possible to import Outlook from my XP system to use on this new one? The "work arounds" I have seen suggested are rediculous - this seems a serious flaw in the product to me! Any news of an improvement with SP2? (I have SP1 preinstalled) So far I find Vista NOT user friendly! Each problem requires hours of research to discover there is no solution...
When I emptied my junk mail. When I looked again all my sub folders were gone too- all my business emails and folders. I am desperate. What do i do?.Can I recover them? Where would they be? I am using windows security essensials as antivirus. I am using vista mail.
How do I located subfolders that are now mysteriously gone.I had 20 sub folders or more with email correspondence.does anyone know how to recover them or find them?they are not in the trash bid or recycle bin?
I have all my emails delivered to my inbox. I then (used to and would like again) move any mails I want to keep into a subfolder. What I did previously was right click "inbox", new folder, name it and there it appeared eg RC,type "vista" and a subfolder called vista would appear. If I then wanted to create a sub subfolder I would RC over Vista, type " problems" and that would then appear as a subfolder of vista...........
Just imported my contacts to win mail and some where in the process, they are now listed by first name, I know there is some place you change the way they are viewed so it is last name first, I can not find it now.
Whenever I click on the 'contacts' icon in Windows Mail, instead of taking me to a screen to manage my contacts (like the help screen says it will), it shows me the contents of the contacts file. Why is it doing this? I just want to create a contact group (distrib. list).
I want to move my "My Documents" folder, etc to a separate partition on my hard drive. I started moving the folders, My Documents, My Pictures, My Music, etc and when I got to the Contacts folder everything screwed up. Now I can't use Windows Mail. When I try to launch Windows Mail the first message I get is:
"CONTACTS FAILED TO LOAD." THE NEXT IS:
"WINDOWS MAIL COULD NOT BE STARTED. THE APPLICATION WAS UNABLE TO INITIALIZE WINDOWS CONTACTS. YOUR COMPUTER MAY BE OUT OF MEMORY OR YOUR DISK IS FULL(0X8000FFFF)." The third is: "WINDOWS MAIL COULD NOT BE STARTED BECAUSE MSOE.DLL COULD NOT BE INITIALIZED."
I used to have outlook express, and when i wanted to send mail to Tim i could type T and the rest of the name would appear as long as tim was in my contacts. but now in windows vista, when i put Tim in my contacts it auto completes his address not his name so.....if tims address is adsfsdf@wwe.com typing in his name helps me none....is there any way to change this?
I am maintained Vista laptops for two elderly people and set them up on Internet Mail, they were on OE before. They like that it grabs contacts for them, the problem is that it duplicates them relentlessly: say Fred emails you often you get a Fred contact a (1) Fred, a (2) Fred, etc... For the life of me I can't find were to fix this, the knowledge base offers me the right choices but finds no documents. Does anybody have this problem? I can easily download Thunderbird for them but I'm trying to keep these laptops as simple as possible.
On the start page only windows mail shows there is no email sign as appears on the other users start page and I have no way to enter new contacts. Windows mail is set as my default. Sending and receiving mail works ok
I just started having an issue with being able to select an email recipient from my Contacts List using the 'TO:'button when composing an email message. What is the issue causing this?
When I start an email by typing in the name of the recipients, who are all in my address book; the address of the person does not come up automatically. I have to open Windows contacts each and every time and copy it to the email
you are saying that Contacts........."this is already in your contacts" when it isn't true because it doesn't show up in the contacts. How do we get all the windows mail contacts to show up in the contacts folder like they are supposed to.
I am no longer able to add a contact to my Windows Mail address book, neither by clicking on the "Add Friend" icon nor by lecting "Tools -Windows Contact" from the menu bar.
I have just talked a friend (over the phone) on how to "Export" her Vista Mail Contacts as A comma separated file. She is going to dump Vista and install Win XP (and OE). The file has been saved as an excel file onto a USB Mem Stick She will be installing Office 2007 etc, Will OE be able to "Import" the CS File into her "New" OE Address Book? (Each mention I have seen describes the CS File as a "text" file)
Is there a way in windows mail or any other mail to make a group of contacts to which I can send an email message to all of the contacts in that group without the receiver seeing to whoever i send the email. Because when i just select all my contacts and mail them they all see who i sent the email to. I just want to be able to send an email to a lot off people whitout a huge list of receivers in every mail.
I suspect that the answer is here somewhere but I cannot find it, sorry about that! When I export my contact list from Windows Mail, Vista, none of the groups are exported to the ourput file no matter which format I choose, CSV or VCF. s ther any method to export the groups?
Is there a way to arrange contacts by e-mail address? I am talking about the contacts that are available online. That was doable in the prior version of MSN.
Right now i have a hotmail account that i have all my contacts and folders in. Is there a way to pull all those folders and contacts over to windows mail? I also have a website that i need to receive e mails from how do i set that up?
I was recently switched to a new ISP (Comcast). I'm trying to figure out a way to copy my contact list from Windows Mail to the Comcast Webmail site. They have some help screens for moving it from Outlook Express by exporting the Address Book. I'm not seeing any options in Windows Mail to export contacts via a .cvs file. Is there a way to do it?
I am being forced to use this tacky Windows Live mail program (coz I want to open attachments after IE8!), I have installed it and as I would expect from a Microsoft install it didn't go smoothly!
After quite some period of time the install program announced that it could not import my contacts - probably the most important aspect of my mail program!
It tells me to do so manually, with no instruction how to of course. I am merely told to point the program in the direction of my Winmail address book.
I'm sure I must be doing something wrong, but I have Windows Mail on a laptop using Vista. It works fine, but all of a sudden, I can't fine how to add a new contact or group. I think I recall it being pretty easy and self explanatory before, so I think I must have some hidden files somewhere. However, I tried everything I can think of.
I recently moved from Outlook Express to Windows Mail. Previously, I would type the first letter of an email address and I would get all of the contacts to whom I've sent email as options for the address. Now, I seem to only get a list of people I've emailed within the last day or two. This is annoying (for example, when I cc myself, I seem to have to type in the address every time).
Let it be known that if you purchase the above OS, you will not be able to transfer any of your e-mail messages or contacts from your old 32 bit system to the new 64 bit system. Even if you attempt to download Outlook Express, it is 32 bit and will not download and instal, therefore, you can't imnport your Outlook files into Outlook Express to convert their file extension to something compatible with Windows Mail, which is the new e-mail program.
OH, before I forget, I want to thank Microsoft for the laser/wireless mouse and keyboard configuration. My Device Manager does not recognize the keyboard as a wireless keyboard, instead it ;ists it as a "HID", (Human Input Device", or dome crap like that, and my mouse and keyboard continually freeze.
