Mass Mail: Group Of Contacts
Jun 16, 2009
Is there a way in windows mail or any other mail to make a group of contacts to which I can send an email message to all of the contacts in that group without the receiver seeing to whoever i send the email. Because when i just select all my contacts and mail them they all see who i sent the email to. I just want to be able to send an email to a lot off people whitout a huge list of receivers in every mail.

I'm sure I must be doing something wrong, but I have Windows Mail on a laptop using Vista. It works fine, but all of a sudden, I can't fine how to add a new contact or group. I think I recall it being pretty easy and self explanatory before, so I think I must have some hidden files somewhere. However, I tried everything I can think of.

We are having trouble adding new groups in Windows Mail. For some reason, it no longer gives us the option of choosing to add a group instead of a single contact. I've clicked on "File" then "New" but "Contact Group" or "Group" is not an option, nor is there a group button on the toolbar. Is there a problem with our settings? We used to be able to add them and now we can't unless we copy an existing group.

When I send an email using a large group and just one of the emails in the group is an incorrect or improper email, it will give an error message and tell you that the email is not being sent because of the email. One would think that all of the other email addresses would get the message, but it won't. Is there a way to correct it so the email will at least go out to the other correct addresses?

When I sent out an email to many addresses at the same time, it showed error and showed the email address that it would not send to. I deleted that one from the list, resent, and it showed another. Eventually it came down to my own email address that I had cc'd to. Hmpf....question, did it send to all the ok addresses? or is it waiting for me to delete the bad ones one at a time as it shows them to me?

I've been trying for a few days to set up a group mail list but keep getting
an individual error message back for each address on the list (5.1.1 - Bad
destination email address 'invalid domain "": no dot found') I have made
individual contacts of each person thati wish to send to (as despite what the
help file says about clicking the toolbar and choosing "group" all I ever
have available to me is the individual contacts. I then put all of these
contacts in one named directory in the contacts folder but this folder is not
available to me when I go to send a new EMail.

I'm noticing some inconsistencies in quoting behaviour when choosing Reply to Group with Windows Mail. I believe I've seen some references to this elsewhere, but can't find a resolution. For example, I will read a post, where the original poster used the Google web interface to create and post his message. When I choose Reply to Group, the original post is properly quoted and all is well.
By this I mean that the previous post will have a marker, the default being >, and more are added for each level of reply. The poster replies to my reply, again using the Google interface, with proper quoting appearing for the two previous messages. But now, I choose Reply to Group again - and the text I'm immediately replying to is not quoted. Yet I notice that others using Outlook Express can reply with the quoting intact, and I can reply to them with the quoting appearing properly. Restarting Windows Mail does not resolve this.

I'm trying to send an email to a group I've set up with 60 contacts but mail won't let me send it. This is the error message I keep getting. The message could not be sent. The authentication setting might not be correct for your outgoing e-mail [SMTP] server. For help solving this problem, go to Help, search for "Troubleshoot Windows Mail", and read the "I'm having problems sending e-mail" section. If you need help determining the proper server settings, please contact your e-mail service provider.
The rejected e-mail address was 'footsteps@chrislong91.wanadoo.co.uk'. Subject 'Re: will you watch or record - Valerie NGR', Account: 'pop.tiscali.co.uk (1)', erver: 'smtp.tiscali.co.uk', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '452 4.5.3 Too many recipients.', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 452, Error Number: 0x800CCC79 Can anyone advise me how I find out the number of contacts I can have in a group as I don't want to have to send to everyone individually (that's not the point of having groups is it?!!!)

Im going to sound like a Neophyte question. Why is it that this newsgroup is hijacked by this guy Keven and what ever the heck he is doing. I dont get it. Cant this news group be set up to refuse mail from this name. Im not critical really I just dont understand, with all the technology today, surely the moderator has the power to stop his eamil address. And if he creates a new one put it in. Ive neverrun a news group so I may be in the dark.
My second question is perhaps more phylisophical. I dont get what he is doing, I mean the messages are stupid. At least if they are ads for drugs I get it he is selling something but, these messages I just dont get ?? What is the point of it all. I hope Im not focusing too much attention on this I just dont get these two questions. Its amazing how one guy can be such a fool?? I flag it as spam but no one seems to do anything about it??

I use Windows mail for my e-mail and news group access. When I access my comcast e-mail (where all the info is correctly entered and stored in the account setup) I have no problem. When I try to access my newsgroup (where all my info is correctly entered and stored in the account setup) a Windows Security window pops up, displays my Vista PC administrator symbol and asks me for a user name and password to access the newsgroup account. I enter the correct info and Windows Security screen will not accept it. I had never ever been asked for a user name and password by a Windows Security Pop Up before and it doesn't ask me for that info on my e-mail.

I just got an e-mail with probably 50 e-mail addresses in the To list. I'd like to use to this list to create my own Contact List but don't want to have to type in each name and e-mail address. in WM is there anyway to copy a long list of addresses (located in the `To' section of a mail one receives) and somehow paste all of that into a new contact group list that I want to create?

I've read several comments regarding the problem I have found about using windows vista mail, all with the same result - no useful solution. Having just moved from Outlook Express, I am accustomed to using sub folders under contacts. I set up subfolders in Vista contacts but they do not show up when I wish to forward an email using "To:" to select members of a folder, ie "family"
How inconvenient to have to search through all 300 or so addresses to find the 5 or 6 I want to forward to. "Family" is mixed in with all the rest. Creating a group is inappropriate when I do not want to send to ALL addresses in a group. Any news on a correction to this problem?
Or, is it possible to import Outlook from my XP system to use on this new one? The "work arounds" I have seen suggested are rediculous - this seems a serious flaw in the product to me! Any news of an improvement with SP2? (I have SP1 preinstalled) So far I find Vista NOT user friendly! Each problem requires hours of research to discover there is no solution...:mad:

Whenever I click on the 'contacts' icon in Windows Mail, instead of taking me to a screen to manage my contacts (like the help screen says it will), it shows me the contents of the contacts file. Why is it
doing this? I just want to create a contact group (distrib. list).

I want to move my "My Documents" folder, etc to a separate partition on my hard drive. I started moving the folders, My Documents, My Pictures, My Music, etc and when I got to the Contacts folder everything screwed up. Now I can't use Windows Mail. When I try to launch Windows Mail the first message I get is:
"CONTACTS FAILED TO LOAD."

THE NEXT IS:
"WINDOWS MAIL COULD NOT BE STARTED. THE APPLICATION WAS UNABLE TO INITIALIZE WINDOWS CONTACTS. YOUR COMPUTER MAY BE OUT OF MEMORY OR YOUR DISK IS FULL(0X8000FFFF)." The third is: "WINDOWS MAIL COULD NOT BE STARTED BECAUSE MSOE.DLL COULD NOT BE INITIALIZED."

This is really mysterious. I have an external 2.5" USB drive and for god's sake I cannot safely remove it from my Vista ultimate 64bit system! I copied something on it and I am quite sure, that safely remove is good to do, because I use such drives for some time already and I already lost some files when it was not done (my computer froze something)! Process explorer shows nothing when I search for my drive letter. I tried some unlocker utility, but it does not make it's context menu.maybe after restart it will :- I disabled indexing for fast search on this drive, but nothing changed.Maybe system restore?.

Problem ejecting USB Mass Storage Device - My Drive M: See my System Specs. I have just finished a session between my C: and M: Drives, well at least I thought so. When I tried to Safely Remove Hardware, I get the following Error window;
Questions;
Is there a way or shortcut that I can use to find which programs or windows are still using the Drive? Will potential problems result if I just do a 'hard' close-down?, ie >Start>Switch Off button ='Closes all open Programs, Shuts down Windows, turns off Computer'. Will the same apply if I do a >Start>Restart, close-down and restart procedure? I have attempted to Safely Remove Drive M: via the Icon in the Notification Tray, and through Device Manager, but the results as shown above are the same. I am maintained Vista laptops for two elderly people and set them up on Internet Mail, they were on OE before. They like that it grabs contacts for them, the problem is that it duplicates them relentlessly: say Fred emails you often you get a Fred contact a (1) Fred, a (2) Fred, etc... For the life of me I can't find were to fix this, the knowledge base offers me the right choices but finds no documents. Does anybody have this problem? I can easily download Thunderbird for them but I'm trying to keep these laptops as simple as possible.
