Contact Group List: Don't Want To Type Each Name And E-mail Address
May 8, 2009
I just got an e-mail with probably 50 e-mail addresses in the To list. I'd like to use to this list to create my own Contact List but don't want to have to type in each name and e-mail address. in WM is there anyway to copy a long list of addresses (located in the `To' section of a mail one receives) and somehow paste all of that into a new contact group list that I want to create?
that her Windows Mail is really strange. I can't help her because I don't use Windows Mail so I am asking on her behalf.
a) When she opens her Contact list , the names are in alphabetical order (which is expected) .However when she composes an email and clicks on the "To" button , the name list displayed is not in alphabetical order by name but strangely ordered by email addresses. Is there a way to rearrange to resort by names?
b) When she types a name in the Address area ie in the box next to "To" , another page opens for search. Is this normal ? With Outlook ( which she used to use until she changed to a new computer running Vista) when you type the name a list of potential email addresses appear. IS there a way to fix this?
I'm just starting to use Windows Mail - looking for a way to display the names in my contact list (previously address book) on the "home" page of Mail, under the folder list, as I used to see them in Outlook Express. It's much more cumbersome to have to open the contact list, find a name and then click on the email button. Is that the only way to open a new mail with a person's name in the To field?
Somewhere for some reason I now have almost 200 Unknown contacts in my contacts list. If I double clk on the name in the contact list which is named Unknown it will open the address info box and let me see who it really is....NO Matter what I change in that box that shows the real contact persons info along with their real names....not the name Unknown..... in fact the name Unknown does not appear anywhere in the contacts info box.....So how do I either merge them with the correct individuals info .... or change the name to read properly
I'm trying to send an email to a group I've set up with 60 contacts but mail won't let me send it. This is the error message I keep getting. The message could not be sent. The authentication setting might not be correct for your outgoing e-mail [SMTP] server. For help solving this problem, go to Help, search for "Troubleshoot Windows Mail", and read the "I'm having problems sending e-mail" section. If you need help determining the proper server settings, please contact your e-mail service provider.
The rejected e-mail address was 'footsteps@chrislong91.wanadoo.co.uk'. Subject 'Re: will you watch or record - Valerie NGR', Account: 'pop.tiscali.co.uk (1)', erver: 'smtp.tiscali.co.uk', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '452 4.5.3 Too many recipients.', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 452, Error Number: 0x800CCC79 Can anyone advise me how I find out the number of contacts I can have in a group as I don't want to have to send to everyone individually (that's not the point of having groups is it?!!!)
I am unable to create a "new contact group" in windows mail. When I open the contacts file I am unable to locate any command to create a new group. I can create new contacts ok but not the group. I have createdgroups before but for some reason the "Create new Group" command has disappeared.
I use Vista 64 bit. How do I copy my contact list from Windows Mail to my Photo program, Photo Explosion? I really don't want to have to enter each address individually.
what Windows Mail is doing with my Contacts File(s). When I create a new e-mail via "Create Mail> To:" I get a short address list with several duplicates. When I go to Contacts via the "Contacts" icon in Windows Mail I get the Contacts File I thought was the one Win Mail was using but it has many more entries (a good thing) and does not have any duplicates. I want Win Mail to use this Contacts File and get rid of the "old/leftover/??" file it is using. The good Contacts File is stored in C:>Users>Ken>Contacts. I don't know where Win Mail is gettting the other file. At one time I had my wife and I both receiving mail to my account. I have since set her up with a separate account.
Windows Vista, Windows Mail Whenever I change my addressbook view so that it will display "create group list", whene I startup my PC and open Windows Mail, my "create group list" is not displayed as it seems to revert back to the default of "picture or video" (in customize tab in address book). Can someone tell me how to set the default so "create group list"is also displayed when I open Address book?
I have been using WLM as default for some time. Today, I went to WM for experiment and tried to create a new contact group. When I clicked New Contact Group button, it blinked for a second, then stopped. No New Contact Group window opened. I switched WM as default, tried again, same result. I cannot create new contact group in WM
I cannot figure out how to make a contact group. The help menu says to 'click on the toolbar', but I can't seem to figure out what they are talking about. I also don't know what a taskbar and a toolbar are. (I know that sounds ridiculous, but, nevertheless.....)
In Windows Mail I have several large contact groups allowing me to send a message to everyone in each group. Occasionally I need to send an e-mail to a contact group but I need to eliminate or delete a contact name from the group, but I don't want to modify the group every time I have to do this. I'd like there to be a way to send the message to a contact group, but somehow display the members of the contact group inside the `To' window, then select one or more and delete them.
When Windows Vista changes from Windows Address book to Windows Contacts, I lost the ability to put my contacts in groups, which I use all the time. It says the Windows Contacts toolbar should have a "New Contact Group" button, but mine only has Organize, View and Burn. How do I fix this
I have imported my address list from xp on my old comp. to my new vista computer. When I go to send an email I click on TO: Problem is the contact list doesn't come up.
Anyway, my problem is that whenever I start IE7 Beta2 for Vista (5384.4) it acts normal but whenever I go to type in an address or go to the tools or anything else it will freeze and I have to close it via Task Manager. When I first Vista Beta 2 IE7 worked fine for the first few days, but then it randomly started acting strange, i didn't install any other software. Also, i tried to uninstall or re-install but I can't find a download for the Vista version of IE7 Beta or a way to uninstall it, and the XP Version won't work, even in XP compatability mode. Is anyone else having similiar issues or know how to resolve this issue?
Is it possible to clear the 'Recently e-mailed' contact list that appears when you click the 'TO' button in New mssage. Probably very simple or answered before but I can't see it.
I bought a new vista computer. I'd like to transfer my contact list, and old emails (and also some files) from my old computer to the new one. The machines are both hooked up to a router for usinging the internet. I assume they are then, or can be, networked.
I'm very disappointed that windows mail doesn't support folders in the contact area. I hope some one from Microsoft see this and they reconsider putting a update to re add this feature. I just got this computer and already I want to send it back. I really need folders to keep my contacts sorted. Either add the option or let me download the old Outlook to install. And buying Office outlook is not a option.
I am using Vista, Outlook Express. I need to add a contact to my address book but can't, for the life, of me, figure out how to do it. I've gone to the HELP function which tells me what to do, but the toolbar that is supposed to come up isn't there. When I click on CONTACTS the toolbar (reading across from left to right) says: ORGANIZE / VIEWS / PLAY ALL / BURN. Nowhere is there a feature that says NEW CONTACT.
Is there a way to omit one or more names from a Group List when sending an email without actualloy removing the name from the list permanently. In Outlook, you were able to right click on the group in the "To" box and open all the actual names and remove what you like. his does not work in Windows Mail.
I use my IP to check my emails 1st; once I open the program my emails get 'dumped' into my email program(s) which are Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 and "IncrediMail". HOWEVER; NONE of the 3 have the same 'email addresses' listed in them. Do I have to go into each and 're-type' or 'type' the ones that are missing or possibly changed or incorrect? Please be specific. I go to my IP to check my emails in order to use THEIR servers' protection; then I use the one I have on my computer.
