Windows Vista, Windows Mail Whenever I change my addressbook view so that it will display "create group list", whene I startup my PC and open Windows Mail, my "create group list" is not displayed as it seems to revert back to the default of "picture or video" (in customize tab in address book). Can someone tell me how to set the default so "create group list"is also displayed when I open Address book?

I just got an e-mail with probably 50 e-mail addresses in the To list. I'd like to use to this list to create my own Contact List but don't want to have to type in each name and e-mail address. in WM is there anyway to copy a long list of addresses (located in the `To' section of a mail one receives) and somehow paste all of that into a new contact group list that I want to create?
View 8 Replies View Relatedwhat Windows Mail is doing with my Contacts File(s). When I create a new e-mail via "Create Mail> To:" I get a short address list with several duplicates. When I go to Contacts via the "Contacts" icon in Windows Mail I get the Contacts File I thought was the one Win Mail was using but it has many more entries (a good thing) and does not have any duplicates. I want Win Mail to use this Contacts File and get rid of the "old/leftover/??" file it is using. The good Contacts File is stored in C:>Users>Ken>Contacts. I don't know where Win Mail is gettting the other file. At one time I had my wife and I both receiving mail to my account. I have since set her up with a separate account.

In Outlook, you were able to right click on the group in the "To" box and open all the actual names and remove what you like. his does not work in Windows Mail.

an individual error message back for each address on the list (5.1.1 - Bad
destination email address 'invalid domain "": no dot found') I have made
individual contacts of each person thati wish to send to (as despite what the
help file says about clicking the toolbar and choosing "group" all I ever
have available to me is the individual contacts. I then put all of these
contacts in one named directory in the contacts folder but this folder is not
available to me when I go to send a new EMail.
I am unable to create a "new contact group" in windows mail. When I open the contacts file I am unable to locate any command to create a new group. I can create new contacts ok but not the group. I have createdgroups before but for some reason the "Create new Group" command has disappeared.

When I access my comcast e-mail (where all the info is correctly entered and stored in the account setup) I have no problem. When I try to access my newsgroup (where all my info is correctly entered and stored in the account setup) a Windows Security window pops up, displays my Vista PC administrator symbol and asks me for a user name and password to access the newsgroup account. I enter the correct info and Windows Security screen will not accept it. I had never ever been asked for a user name and password by a Windows Security Pop Up before and it doesn't ask me for that info on my e-mail.

They have some help screens for moving it from Outlook Express by exporting the Address Book. I'm not seeing any options in Windows Mail to export contacts via a .cvs file. Is there a way to do it?

I deleted it thinking it would confuse the 92 year old client whose machine this is, as she was going to use AOL webmail. I have listed her address in my safe senders and she is not listed in my block senders but somehow only her emails go into phishing. a) When she opens her Contact list , the names are in alphabetical order (which is expected) .However when she composes an email and clicks on the "To" button , the name list displayed is not in alphabetical order by name but strangely ordered by email addresses. Is there a way to rearrange to resort by names?
b) When she types a name in the Address area ie in the box next to "To" , another page opens for search. Is this normal ? With Outlook ( which she used to use until she changed to a new computer running Vista) when you type the name a list of potential email addresses appear. IS there a way to fix this?

I only found this "General" by accident. I certainly would NOT have come searching here for SP related issues had there not been so many here already.
I formally request that Microsoft create a group that is on topic and related to the Extremely problematic SP release for Vista.
I guess if this SP1 for Vista wasn't such a unique monster, I might not have requested this and would have accepted "Genera" as goodenough.
I have been using Windows Mail for my Yahoo addresses and by right clicking on the W.M. icon in the programme list above the start button I put a shortcut on to the desktop that has been working very well. Today I have combined Yahoo and Hotmail addresses under the WLM umbrella. But I cannot find how to make a shortcut. Nowhere can I find the relevant WLM icon to make a shortcut from. Obviously I am missing something, somewhere, but what is it?

One item I cant do without is my footer showing cthe usual "if you recieved this email in error" and all my business contact details including my VAT number. I have by mistake deleted it and want to create a new footer template so with 1 click i can go to it. I have spent hours trying to create a new stationary or edit an existing one. with no luck. The repetative warning message comes up "this file does not have an association with it to perform this action. Create an association in the set association control panel. Does anyone know where this is and how to set it.
