New Contact Group Not Working
Apr 30, 2009I have been using WLM as default for some time. Today, I went to WM for experiment and tried to create a new contact group. When I clicked New Contact Group button, it blinked for a second, then stopped. No New Contact Group window opened. I switched WM as default, tried again, same result. I cannot create new contact group in WM

Mar 25, 2009In Windows Mail I have several large contact groups allowing me to send a message to everyone in each group. Occasionally I need to send an e-mail to a contact group but I need to eliminate or delete a contact name from the group, but I don't want to modify the group every time I have to do this. I'd like there to be a way to send the message to a contact group, but somehow display the members of the contact group inside the `To' window, then select one or more and delete them.

I only found this "General" by accident. I certainly would NOT have come searching here for SP related issues had there not been so many here already.
I formally request that Microsoft create a group that is on topic and related to the Extremely problematic SP release for Vista.
I guess if this SP1 for Vista wasn't such a unique monster, I might not have requested this and would have accepted "Genera" as goodenough.

Apr 22, 2009Windows Vista, Windows Mail Whenever I change my addressbook view so that it will display "create group list", whene I startup my PC and open Windows Mail, my "create group list" is not displayed as it seems to revert back to the default of "picture or video" (in customize tab in address book). Can someone tell me how to set the default so "create group list"is also displayed when I open Address book?

May 31, 2008I'm very disappointed that windows mail doesn't support folders in the contact area. I hope some one from Microsoft see this and they reconsider putting a update to re add this feature. I just got this computer and already I want to send it back. I really need folders to keep my contacts sorted. Either add the option or let me download the old Outlook to install. Sep 13, 2009I am running Windows Vista Home Premium 32 (system specs: laptop 2.1 Ghz core 2 duo, 4 gb RAM, 500gb hd (about half full) nvidia 8400M GS, Avira Premium Security Suite). I have had the computer for about a year running fine with 1 main admin account. Now when I need to create an account for another user I cannot create one, either admin or standard. When I create it, using either the control panel or command prompt, it creates the user picture, making the account visible on the control panel user accounts screen, and on logon screen. However, when trying to log into the new account I am greeted with the error "User profile service failed on logon. User profile cannot be loaded." The standard fix for this from various forums is to edit the registry key of the account. However, on going to regedit I see that no key even exists for the account. On further investigation I discover that no user files have been created either. I attempted a system restore, but discovered that all my past restore points were gone, and intruigingly, the computer had stopped createing 24 hour checkpoints. I cannot say for definite whether it was this issue or another one that caused system restore to mess up, as I don't check my system restore all that often. Either way, system restore is not an option. There have been mentions of a full Vista reinstall, though if at all possible I would like to avoid this.

I spent several hours over several days speaking to a Microsoft tech support supervisor trying to get it to work, to no avail, and the case was closed by Microsoft as having no solution available.
This was not acceptable to me, being the curious person I am. I decided, what the hell, I'll just uninstall my OS, reformat and do a clean install. During the install I installed each and every update and application one at a time, checking the function of my fingerprint reader after each update and application, rebooting after each one. I had many updates and applications to install so it took me two days to discover the problem..........

My wife & I have seperate log-in accounts on vista ultimate in hopes that it would alow us to also have seperate email and contact lists. As of now we have sererate email accounts also but share a contact list between us and want to have our own, except that vista doesn't seem to allow us to do so. Is this something we'll have to live with or is there a fix somewhere?

Apr 6, 2008I'm in the middle of my Vista deployment, I had a test KMS server runing on a Windows2003 SP1 box. It worked (I got events in the KMS event viewer) but because I did not reach my 25 Vista tests machines I left it runing until I started the real deployment. And now surprise. The clients do not talk to the KMS server (sysprep'd clients), the DNS records are correct, I tried to add manually the KMS server in the registry "KeyManagementServiceName" in WindowsNTCurrentVersionSL, I also tried slmgr -skms myserver.mydomain.com (I used my real server name of course) that resulted in error 800706BA "RPC not available" even if the port 1688 is open on the server - remember the KMS server was working before...
I also tried installing another KMS 1.1 on a Windows 2003 SP2 box without more success (the KMS setup runs smoothly) on the client side. I ran a packet capture and found that the Vista Client does not even try to connect to any server on port 1688, the only connection I can see is an http to microsoft.com that fails because of our authentication proxy. By the way the error I see in the event log on the clients is 8004FE33 (Proxy auth) as long as IE is configured with our proxy and if I remove the proxy config I get an 80072EFD unable to connect to server when I run slmgr -ato.
Letter Of The Name, Contact Composition
Jun 23, 2009With XP once you entered the first or second letter of the a name in your contact group it displayed a whole name for you to choose. Vista doesn't seem to do this or am I missing something?
