View 4 RepliesWhen Windows Vista changes from Windows Address book to Windows Contacts, I lost the ability to put my contacts in groups, which I use all the time. It says the Windows Contacts toolbar should have a "New Contact Group" button, but mine only has Organize, View and Burn. How do I fix this
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have been using WLM as default for some time. Today, I went to WM for experiment and tried to create a new contact group. When I clicked New Contact Group button, it blinked for a second, then stopped. No New Contact Group window opened. I switched WM as default, tried again, same result. I cannot create new contact group in WM

View 7 Replies View RelatedIn Windows Mail I have several large contact groups allowing me to send a message to everyone in each group. Occasionally I need to send an e-mail to a contact group but I need to eliminate or delete a contact name from the group, but I don't want to modify the group every time I have to do this. I'd like there to be a way to send the message to a contact group, but somehow display the members of the contact group inside the `To' window, then select one or more and delete them.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to send an email to a group I've set up with 60 contacts but mail won't let me send it. This is the error message I keep getting. The message could not be sent. The authentication setting might not be correct for your outgoing e-mail [SMTP] server. For help solving this problem, go to Help, search for "Troubleshoot Windows Mail", and read the "I'm having problems sending e-mail" section. If you need help determining the proper server settings, please contact your e-mail service provider.

I am unable to create a "new contact group" in windows mail. When I open the contacts file I am unable to locate any command to create a new group. I can create new contacts ok but not the group. I have createdgroups before but for some reason the "Create new Group" command has disappeared.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI just got an e-mail with probably 50 e-mail addresses in the To list. I'd like to use to this list to create my own Contact List but don't want to have to type in each name and e-mail address. in WM is there anyway to copy a long list of addresses (located in the `To' section of a mail one receives) and somehow paste all of that into a new contact group list that I want to create?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI'm very disappointed that windows mail doesn't support folders in the contact area. I hope some one from Microsoft see this and they reconsider putting a update to re add this feature. I just got this computer and already I want to send it back. I really need folders to keep my contacts sorted. Either add the option or let me download the old Outlook to install. And buying Office outlook is not a option.
View 9 Replies View RelatedWe are having trouble adding new groups in Windows Mail. For some reason, it no longer gives us the option of choosing to add a group instead of a single contact. I've clicked on "File" then "New" but "Contact Group" or "Group" is not an option, nor is there a group button on the toolbar. Is there a problem with our settings? We used to be able to add them and now we can't unless we copy an existing group.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm working with Vista (which sucks!) How do I add a contact to my contacts folder? There is no tool bar?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI need to have my contacts with first names first, but Vista Mail isn't working for me. Some of them are first name first, the rest are surname first. I've tried manually changing them around after double clicking on each name, but there's no way to save. They flip back as before as soon as I go back to the contact list.
View 9 Replies View RelatedSeveral days ago I posted a question concerning the inability of my Microsoft Fingerprint Reader to function. I did not receive answers from anyone in the discussion groups. I spent several hours over several days speaking to a Microsoft tech support supervisor trying to get it to work, to no avail, and the case was closed by Microsoft as having no solution available.
This was not acceptable to me, being the curious person I am. I decided, what the hell, I'll just uninstall my OS, reformat and do a clean install. During the install I installed each and every update and application one at a time, checking the function of my fingerprint reader after each update and application, rebooting after each one. I had many updates and applications to install so it took me two days to discover the problem..........
I get an unknown error has occurred and contact cannot be added.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am trying to figure out how to contact the OEX program author, Steven Cochran. The only thing I see is his snail-mail address.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI've just upgraded from XP and am new to Vista and this forum. My wife & I have seperate log-in accounts on vista ultimate in hopes that it would alow us to also have seperate email and contact lists. As of now we have sererate email accounts also but share a contact list between us and want to have our own, except that vista doesn't seem to allow us to do so. Is this something we'll have to live with or is there a fix somewhere?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI posted this in the mail forum and then found this group. Please excuse the double posting. hen i moved to vista windows mail from xp outlook express, I combined 3 identities address books. I made contact folders for each one. However, when I try to select recipients the total contact list appears. Is there a way to just bring up the contact folder I need when creating emails?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI am using Vista, Outlook Express. I need to add a contact to my address book but can't, for the life, of me, figure out how to do it. I've gone to the HELP function which tells me what to do, but the toolbar that is supposed to come up isn't there. When I click on CONTACTS the toolbar (reading across from left to right) says: ORGANIZE / VIEWS / PLAY ALL / BURN. Nowhere is there a feature that says NEW CONTACT.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm in the middle of my Vista deployment, I had a test KMS server runing on a Windows2003 SP1 box. It worked (I got events in the KMS event viewer) but because I did not reach my 25 Vista tests machines I left it runing until I started the real deployment. And now surprise. The clients do not talk to the KMS server (sysprep'd clients), the DNS records are correct, I tried to add manually the KMS server in the registry "KeyManagementServiceName" in WindowsNTCurrentVersionSL, I also tried slmgr -skms myserver.mydomain.com (I used my real server name of course) that resulted in error 800706BA "RPC not available" even if the port 1688 is open on the server - remember the KMS server was working before...
I also tried installing another KMS 1.1 on a Windows 2003 SP2 box without more success (the KMS setup runs smoothly) on the client side. I ran a packet capture and found that the Vista Client does not even try to connect to any server on port 1688, the only connection I can see is an http to microsoft.com that fails because of our authentication proxy. By the way the error I see in the event log on the clients is 8004FE33 (Proxy auth) as long as IE is configured with our proxy and if I remove the proxy config I get an 80072EFD unable to connect to server when I run slmgr -ato.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a (weird) problem with msn messenger. Most people know that it's possible to see wehter you have been removed from a contact's list in messenger. By going to options and then privacy, it's possible to see your blocked and accepted contacts. When right clicking a certain contact it either does or does not give the possibility to delete the contact. If the contact can be deleted, that contact has removed you from their list. If a contact can't be deleted, that contact still has you in their list.
Now, my problem concerns a contact, which I have regular chat sessions with. I KNOW that I am still in their list, yet messenger gives me the possibility of removing them (under options->privacy). Does anyone know what the reason might be and how I can fix this problem? There should be a way to update the acceptance list and make msn recognize that this contact has me in their list.....
I have imported my address list from xp on my old comp. to my new vista computer. When I go to send an email I click on TO: Problem is the contact list doesn't come up.
