Downloaded Mozilla Firefox Internet Browser Ask Permission To Continue
Dec 2, 2007
I downloaded Mozilla Firefox Internet Browser a short while ago and it was working fine. But then my Vista automatically updated and I think that was where the problem started. I think in the update it heightened the security on my computer, not necessarily a bad thing but annoying because every time I launch Firefox it has to ask my permission to continue.
I think this is because it is trying to access the internet and is not microsoft software. I have looked it up in windows help and have a slight suspicion that it might be to do with something called "user account control". It helps stop unauthorized changes to your computer. Is there any way to convince it that Firefox isn't harmful and make an exception for it?

i have so many problems with Windows Vista, i can't even tell you. i'm meeting with a friend soon to address many of them, but there's one i can't tolerate or figure out. i've looked everywhere, so as a last-ditch, i'm asking here.
Vista is crashing my browser, which happens to be Mozilla Firefox. however, from what i've read, it also crashes IE7, so it's an equal opportunity glitch. is there a patch i'm missing? it's getting worse & worse. it used to happen occasionally, & now it happens every time i browse.

Everytime I open them I get a little box that says "User account control" "A program needs your permission to continue". This is a real PIA. How do I eliminate this without turning UAC off?

I have a legit copy of CS4 Premiere Pro because several people have asked me that and not given me answers. Problem is that I click on the setup.exe icon and the "A Program Needs Your Permission to Continue" box pops up, I say 'continue' and the box goes away. From that point on, nothing happens AT ALL. Just that box, and that is it!

I just got vista 64bit and Mozilla Firefox keeps crashing on me.
I've heard there are some compatibility issues with Firefox and 64bit windows.
Is there a patch out, a windows tweak or an alternate version of Firefox out to solve this issue?
Another application I'm having trouble installing is Flash CS4, It keeps preparing the install files to a temp folder and then tells me that it needs to close and to check the destination drives disk space/ write protection settings.
(note the destination drive has over 400gb left on it!)

After yesterday's discovery of a serious security hole left open by Mozilla Firefox's new TraceMonkey JavaScript engine, the organization chose not to wait until next week -- as had been its plan on Tuesday -- to open up availability of its version 3.5.1 bug fix. Instead, the completed build showed up on Mozilla's FTP servers late Thursday morning, although access to that build through HTTP had been sporadic throughout the early afternoon. I've been using Firefox as my default browser and until today all the Favorites and links opened in Firefox. But for some reason IE now fires up and loads the website when I click on a link or favorite. Favorites used to have Firefox icon next to them but these have now changed to IE icon. I have tried "Make Firefox your default browser" in it options but this has no effect. I don't want to use IE if it can be helped but don't know what to do to go back to how things were.

In windows XP clicking this link activates mail client new message window (Outlook in my case), allowing user to fill in the email message and send it (address automatically filled in convieniently). The webpage containing the MailTo link remains displayed in browser (Firefox).
In Vista, clicking this link also activates mail client (Windows Mail) but just the mail client no new message window to actually type message into. However, it also loads MailTo:someone@xxxxxx into an IE7 browser address window, then generates message in browser window "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage". Of course it shouldn't even be trying to display a MailTo: as a webpage. This is seriously messing with my mind and i need to resolve it so i can happily click away on MailTo links to my hearts content without having to find then copy and paste the MailTo address every time

I'm new here with a problem that has popped up last night. Up until last night my web pages and everything was loading up in my Firefox browser pretty fast. Today things are loading up slow and with I go on to a news source to watch a video...the videos stop and go making the news video not worth watching. A couple of minutes I was looking at something on here where it said to use "cmd" command to get into something. It was set on "ultrarestrictive" and I changed it to "normal" but haven't seen much difference in how things are working. The other day I downloaded UTorrent on my computer but today I uninstalled it. Could UTorrent have messed something up?

I somehow fixed my problem before, but then I reformatted my laptop which I regret now. I've downloaded all the vista upgrades and even tried turning off my firewall. But no matter if I'm using Firefox or IE7 it takes waay too long to load a page. I googled this and I've tried doing the "netsh interface disable" command but that doesn't really work either.

This week, Net Applications released their January browser market share report. Their report shows that Internet Explorer 8 is not only the most popular browser on Windows with 27.9% usage share, but that it now has 25.6% of market share across all OS’s on a worldwide-weighted usage share basis (data provided by Net Applications). We launched just less than a year ago, so it’s both humbling and thrilling to see so many people choose our product so quickly – making it the most popular browser of choice worldwide.
There are many reasons people choose which browser to use. Most people want to know and trust the company behind their browser. And people are looking a browser that protects them – and their privacy online. In an August 13th, 2009 post on the IEBlog, we announced Internet Explorer 8’s SmartScreen Filter had hit over 80 million malware blocks. But that was back in August. As of today, Internet Explorer 8 has done over 350 million malware blocks. You can see Internet Explorer 8’s SmartScreen Filter in action in this blog post. Internet Explorer 8’s SmartScreen Filter blocks malware over 2 million times a day...........

Concerning the Internet Explorer - New Zero-Day exploit in-the-wild, besides applying the workarounds advised, I've also seen it recommended to maybe use an alternative browser until this has been fixed. I've only ever used IE7 and would like some advise please on which other browser I could use on Vista that would be the most secure. I've been looking at Opera, Firefox and maybe K-melon or Google Chrome, but from a security point of view, don't know which to choose.

I have been having more or less continuing problems with my HP OEM Vista Home Premium. Several times a day it has been hanging up whether I am using Firefox (preferred) or Internet Explorer. I have checked with every tool I can put my hands on but with no positive results. I am now looking at: Reinstalling Vista OEM (would loose all my data information, bookmarks, purchased tools, etc). Buying a copy of Vista Home Premium Upgrade for about $60 or so on Ebay. By doing this could I do a repair on Vista without loosing all my info? Buying Norton Internet Security or a version that hones in on Vista.

Every morning I wake up, I have to re-start my computer in order to get Firefox or Internet explorer to work. Have tried all below with both wired and wireless connection. All other functions, icons and various do-dads work, just connecting. If I happen to pass out and forget to logout of either Mozilla or IE, the screen I was on stays up but when I hit re-fresh(IE) or reload (mozilla) the problem pops up.
1. Wake up and touch mouse, desktop comes up, no problem
2. Check network connection, all seems good. Network icon shows full connection, you see the globe symbol, all good.
3. Try to access either Internet Explorer, or Mozilla Firefox.
4. I.E. says it cannot connect and Mozilla says, well it says nothing at all except for "done" in bottom left corner of screen, but leaves a blank screen.
5. Have checked my power settings, and have made sure that both plugged in and on battery that the computer is not set to sleep. Never sleep............

Having surveyed numerous similar posts I am at a loss as to how to resolve this issue, hence posting my specifics...all help greatly appreciated.
I am running Vista Home premium, IE8, Firefox 3.5.3, AVG free and Zonealarm. On starting the PC there is no problem connecting to the internet through either browser or updating email (Windows Mail).
Problem...
Loss of internet connection via IE and/or Firefox whilst Mail can still send/receive. I have tried clearing the cache etc but the only thing that works is re-booting the laptop (Dell XPS 1330).
I mainly browse with IE but downloaded Firefox in case IE was the problem. One or the other will lose connection first then the other will follow.
