Oct 18, 2008I'm new here with a problem that has popped up last night. Up until last night my web pages and everything was loading up in my Firefox browser pretty fast. Today things are loading up slow and with I go on to a news source to watch a video...the videos stop and go making the news video not worth watching. A couple of minutes I was looking at something on here where it said to use "cmd" command to get into something. It was set on "ultrarestrictive" and I changed it to "normal" but haven't seen much difference in how things are working. The other day I downloaded UTorrent on my computer but today I uninstalled it. Could UTorrent have messed something up?

Apr 21, 2008I somehow fixed my problem before, but then I reformatted my laptop which I regret now. I've downloaded all the vista upgrades and even tried turning off my firewall. But no matter if I'm using Firefox or IE7 it takes waay too long to load a page. I googled this and I've tried doing the "netsh interface disable" command but that doesn't really work either.

Alternative Browser: Concerning The Internet Explorer - New Zero-Day Exploit In-the-wild?
Dec 13, 2008Concerning the Internet Explorer - New Zero-Day exploit in-the-wild, besides applying the workarounds advised, I've also seen it recommended to maybe use an alternative browser until this has been fixed. I've only ever used IE7 and would like some advise please on which other browser I could use on Vista that would be the most secure. I've been looking at Opera, Firefox and maybe K-melon or Google Chrome, but from a security point of view, don't know which to choose.

I would like to be able to use the X32 bit version of IE as my default browser. How can I accomplish this? I have one game provider that runs only on X32 bit, and I would like to be able to download their games. I am running Windows Vista Home Premium Edition X64 bit SP2.

Dec 2, 2007I downloaded Mozilla Firefox Internet Browser a short while ago and it was working fine. But then my Vista automatically updated and I think that was where the problem started. I think in the update it heightened the security on my computer, not necessarily a bad thing but annoying because every time I launch Firefox it has to ask my permission to continue.
I think this is because it is trying to access the internet and is not microsoft software. I have looked it up in windows help and have a slight suspicion that it might be to do with something called "user account control". It helps stop unauthorized changes to your computer. Is there any way to convince it that Firefox isn't harmful and make an exception for it?
Fastest Update To SP2?
Oct 11, 2009I´ve got some (alot) Probs. with my Vista Home Premium x64. The latest is that Windows Installer don´t work anymore. I´ve tried repair, search for problem solutions, made sure it´s set to manual etc. etc. So now i´m facing a complete reinstall of my OS due to multiple errors lately.
Now to my Q: -My original Vista CD contains no service packs. The last time i reinstalled my OS it took about 1 week until automatic updates gave me the SP2. Is there a quicker way? Can i DL SP1 and SP2 and install them without using the automatic update? Or do i have to use it in order to get the updates in a specific order?

Nov 26, 2009I have Verizon DSL with their supplied DSL Modem. The computer can be connected to the moden via an Ethernet cable, USB or Wireless. It use to be in past years Ethernet was the fastest internet connection. Is that still true when compared to USB, and now USB 2 and Wireless?

I'd made my browser choices before downloading (I use IE, Chrome and sometimes Firefox), so I don't want to pick another one. Jul 19, 2009My daughter purchased a Dell PC that has Vista 64 bit loaded. We didn't realize it was the 64 bit version until recently. Her problem is with IE. She has broadband access, but as soon as she drills down more than two levels, her browser slows right down. For some reason, it worked well and fast for about a month, but she recently rebooted her PC and it's s-l-o-w again. Has any else experienced this problem? Is there any way or reason to go to the 32 bit version of Vista?

Apr 15, 2008i have so many problems with Windows Vista, i can't even tell you. i'm meeting with a friend soon to address many of them, but there's one i can't tolerate or figure out. i've looked everywhere, so as a last-ditch, i'm asking here.
Vista is crashing my browser, which happens to be Mozilla Firefox. however, from what i've read, it also crashes IE7, so it's an equal opportunity glitch. is there a patch i'm missing? it's getting worse & worse. it used to happen occasionally, & now it happens every time i browse.
