I'm trying to import bookmarks (favorites) from Firefox into IE8. The option to import from another browser is grayed out, and when I try to import from a file, I only get the last few bookmarks.
WHAT COMPUTER SYSTEM AM I USING?: Windows Vista Home Premium with 64-bit Operating System. WHEN DID THINGS GO WRONG?:around the 1st October 2009. WHAT IS NOT ORKING?:my latest 32-bit version of Mozilla Firefox when connected to the internet. my latest 32-bit version of Internet Explorer when connected to the internet. my latest 32-bit version of Opera when connected to the internet. my Skype. WHAT IS WORKING?:my latest 32-bit version of Mozilla Firefox, Internet Explorer, and Opera when viewing a web page that is on my computer (html pages which I have made for example). my 64-bit version of Internet Explorer. my internet connection. here are pictures of what happens when these applications are not working:
My first post on here! I have just upgraded to Windows 7 on my (other) computer and for some reason I have connection to my broadbnd and can send and recieve my emails, but my web browser will not work at all!
I installed Chrome to give it a try and now when I set the default back to Firefox via: Start/Properties/StartMenu/Customize/Internet Link/Mozilla Firefox Chrome also pops up not Firefox. When I click on a web link from Windows Mail or Start/Favorites, the default web browser is still Chrome. How do I make my default browser Firefox again (Which is still installed as I never removed it)?
When I click links from a google search, my browser is redirected to other sites places like 'Ask' and 'Kelkoo' and other shopping and comparison sites.
I have spent HOURS running whole system scans using:
AVG (found nothing while scanning, but uncovered 3 'Trojans' while Defender was running)Windows Defender (This scan triggered the above 3)Spybot - twice (found 69 problems on the first run, then after reboot, no problems, apparently)
i use idm 5.18 to download flv from Internet.com and when i press the popup button "download this video " nothing happens and when i use the download by idm from the right click button it says erorr my web browser is mozilla firefox 3.5.3 idm 5.18
I am new to Vista Forum- feeling a little lost. I was looking for a Swedish to English translator on the Internet and Babylon looked promising. It didn't work out but I am stuck with their browser in my tool bar. It has become the default. I can click on it and it closes so that is good- I want to delete completely.
When I initially downloaded itunes, my cd drive disappeared. I found a link to a fix online, and it did fix it. Well I have installed an update to itunes, and now it shows it is there, but it will not import or rip cds. I have windows vista 32 bit.
I'm new here with a problem that has popped up last night. Up until last night my web pages and everything was loading up in my Firefox browser pretty fast. Today things are loading up slow and with I go on to a news source to watch a video...the videos stop and go making the news video not worth watching. A couple of minutes I was looking at something on here where it said to use "cmd" command to get into something. It was set on "ultrarestrictive" and I changed it to "normal" but haven't seen much difference in how things are working. The other day I downloaded UTorrent on my computer but today I uninstalled it. Could UTorrent have messed something up?
I stupidly downloaded the 'Browser Choice' update and can't get rid of it. I'd made my browser choices before downloading (I use IE, Chrome and sometimes Firefox), so I don't want to pick another one. But I can't get rid of the update: every time I reboot it comes up, with an annoying 'Certificate cannot be verified' message as well (from Windows????). I don't want ever to see this browser choice message again:
My daughter purchased a Dell PC that has Vista 64 bit loaded. We didn't realize it was the 64 bit version until recently. Her problem is with IE. She has broadband access, but as soon as she drills down more than two levels, her browser slows right down. For some reason, it worked well and fast for about a month, but she recently rebooted her PC and it's s-l-o-w again. Has any else experienced this problem? Is there any way or reason to go to the 32 bit version of Vista?
Just found this site that will let you test the version of your browser add-ons, to make sure they are up to date. Why not give it a try to make sure that you are current. A must do for security.
I somehow fixed my problem before, but then I reformatted my laptop which I regret now. I've downloaded all the vista upgrades and even tried turning off my firewall. But no matter if I'm using Firefox or IE7 it takes waay too long to load a page. I googled this and I've tried doing the "netsh interface disable" command but that doesn't really work either.
I have Windows Vista Home Premium Edition on my laptop. When I browse, using Internet Explorer, the pane successively becomes smaller. Every time I click, the lower border moves upwards a bit and after a while only a narrow stripe remains. Very annoying! Why does this happen? What can I do to get rid of this annoying behaviour?
when i checked the windows help and support to find help for something, i noticed that all the "links" that refer to the help articles next to them have a little box with a red X inside them. (like this box that appears in a web browser when a picture cant be displayed). another problem is that i have deleted all the restore points before taking aware of this situation and i cant do a system restore to try to fix it. i have tried the offline help, deleting temporary files, but i cant find a way to fix this it still has the same problem. i use windows vista 32bit with sp1 and all the updates.
I have a virus it seems to be a pretty bad one at that. I am unable to access my Google chrome browser but Luckily am able to use IE but If I try installing let's say AVG when I restart nothing works except MSN I can still chat to people. This all started when my Norton 360 ran out and I had to switch for a new antivirus.
Is it possible to import directly from an Outlook data file (.pst)? The wizard seems to only work if you have an active installation, which I do not after upgrading from XP to Vista 64 (along with a new motherboard, processor and memory). I had the older version of Office Home and Student that came with Outlook, but Office 2007 Home & Student does not.
My old PC had Outlook (or Outlook Express) and I saved off the emails by selecting them all and dragging them to a folder on my network. Doing this creates an msg file for each email. Now, like I've done many times in the past, I would like to import them into the emailprogram of a new laptop. So I dragged the msg files into Vista Windows Mail and instead of importing the messages it creates a brand new email with these msg files as attachments! The only reason I save email in this manner is because Microsoft really dropped the ball when it came to transferring email from one PC to another. I forget which it was but either Outlook or Outlook Express was so bad it was a disaster. This method always worked so this is what I've decided to do. Now it looks like Microsoft's found a way to f*** this up too.
I have a problem with Windows Movie Maker. I can import audio and pictures but somehow I can't import videos. I have the correct codecs. Here's a screenshot
Running Outlook 2003 on Vista Business. Have copied outlook express folder from old PC to C: on Vista. Import says "Cannot open mail folder". I imported into Windows Mail so it isn't a security problem, as the folder and all subfolders/files are owned by the user who has full control of the folder and files. What can the problem be? Is it because there is no email acount set up as yet?
I'm running Vista home premium 64bit. New computer, new operating system I wanted to import some pics from my camera (nikon D300) and noticed that there is no longer a "camera, photo, scanner wizard" like XP had. I decided to try and use the windows live photo gallery. I picked the groups I wanted to copy off of my camera. Gave them a name or tag. Went to import options and choose my writable drive to import them to. I get this box: options/import options: you cannot import to this folder. Choose another location. I have tried both a CD / DVD, and I know there is room. I went into windows explorer and manually copied the pics to the writable drive so I know its working. So my question is: Why wont Windows live photo gallery let me save my photo's off of my camera to my writable drive?
This problem happens in all browsers. I can't see Adbrite ads, for example. And some websites don't display correctly. Here's how my website displays Statcounter: To see how it should be displayed visit StatCounter Free invisible Web tracker, Hit counter and Web stats. I have Flash Player installed, so that shouldn't be the problem. I also have Java 32 bits SE installed.
i have so many problems with Windows Vista, i can't even tell you. i'm meeting with a friend soon to address many of them, but there's one i can't tolerate or figure out. i've looked everywhere, so as a last-ditch, i'm asking here.
Vista is crashing my browser, which happens to be Mozilla Firefox. however, from what i've read, it also crashes IE7, so it's an equal opportunity glitch. is there a patch i'm missing? it's getting worse & worse. it used to happen occasionally, & now it happens every time i browse.
